"We're going to choose Carlton Senior Living Concord for my dad because of the price value for the services offered and the location. Their rooms were bright with plenty of natural light, and they were the average size. The staff is helpful, informative, and friendly. They provide meals. They also provide bus services to banks, grocery stores, and doctors. They also have activities and tours to wineries and the surrounding area. It is an older building, and they are in the process of fixing things up. They are well on their way. For what they do, they are providing great service and a nice atmosphere. Everybody that I met was friendly."

"We settled on Redwood Retirement Residence, and it’s working out well. My mom has been there sinceJuly, the community is very friendly, and it’s in a wonderful location in downtown Napa. It’s actually pretty convenient. The rooms are a little bit small if you have a studio, so it’s not like you expect a lot. When somebody is in a studio, you’d expect them to have a big closet, so I would say the closet is the problem. The bathroom is large, and because of the earthquake they are doing a whole remodel. She is happy there. The community really bonded together; it was great. They bonded together and help each other through it, and they kept cooking the whole time and feeding everybody. My mom said they had a wonderful beef stew that night for dinner, and she was impressed that they were able to pull it all off. The staff is super nice; my mom actually has had some health issues, and they help me like checking the room making sure she is OK. They have been super helpful and supportive, and they are going to keep an eye on my mom. We also liked it here because this company owns 300 other residences, and she can travel to any of them for free and eat there for free which is kind of a nice little perk if you are on the younger end. They go on trips to wineries and places to San Francisco and stuff like that. "

"My aunt will be moving to The Springs of Napa on the 24th. The staff was very welcoming when I went there. The place is independent, but they also have caregivers onsite. It's the only reason we could move her there. The clients there seemed happy, and the place was very spacious. There's a lot of light there too; it was not dark. They have bingo, card games, and walking groups. They also have a shuttle for shopping, book clubs, and a library for book discussions."

"Chateau III is new about 2 years old. It's a very nice building, and it's beautifully appointed. The dining room was very nice. We did sample the food as they asked us to stay for lunch, and it was very good. The wait staff was very attentive, and the staff was very nice too. "

"We like that it is set up kind of like a resort. It's very open and has friendly people. It doesn't feel like the kind of place that my mom wouldn't like. It looked like the people living there were very active. Even their memory care seemed to have a lot of programs. I think that it's a place that my family will like going to see my mother. The accommodations, the room, and everything looked really good. The staff is professional and friendly too. I tried the food on the day we went to tour it and it was good."

"I came across it when I was looking for a place for mom. The facility seems great and I really liked that the people looked happy. The workers seemed to really care and the people there were just really wonderful. The only thing I had a problem with is that it’s a little big for my mom with 150 apartments but other than that, I liked everything about it. I know they had church services, parties, and different kinds of entertainment. I didn’t try the food, but I loved the rooms as they have decor in them, which is an important thing for my mom. They had an outdoor space that seemed bigger than some of the other places I visited. The place stood out to me as it is very important to mom for the place to have an outdoor space and it overlooked a beautiful garden. "

"Belmont Village is brand new, so there were a lot of people during open house. It was kind of hectic and crazy, but my questions were answered. It's a bit pricey, but it looked beautiful. The rooms looked comfortable. The person who showed me around was informative. The dining area looked very nice."

"Sonoma is the one I would move to if I decided to move. It was excellent. They're very attentive. I was also very impressed that our server was knowledgeable about the wine that was served. The head of their sales and marketing was extremely helpful. After I did the tour and really contemplated the possibility of moving in, I called and asked if they had a floorplan that showed the actual dimensions and that was promptly furnished. I'm very favorably impressed with it. The dining area was excellent and the food was outstanding. The apartments were nicely done. I would have liked it if they have college level classes for continuing education, but that would be the only significant deficit that I could point to. It was not a huge issue; I could manage to attend some such classes elsewhere. Overall, I am very favorably impressed."

"My husband and I have been interviewing various local establishments for ourselves and this is the latest of our visits. This is a very impressive set of buildings in a garden setting, within 4 to 6 blocks of downtown Walnut Creek, CA. The rooms were clean, nicely thought out, with full (if small) kitchens and laundry (in room). The food was tasty, using fresh vegetables and herbs from their own gardens. Common spaces available for movies, crafts, games, swimming pool and gardening. We were impressed, and plan a second visit later in the year. "

"Walnut Creek Care Home seemed nice. The staff was nice, too. My sister will have her own room with a wall and a sliding door to the outside. It's small, but it's a nice room and they allow cats. They only have six beds, so they don't have a lot of activities. Cleanliness seemed OK."

"We went to The Vincent. We just took a quick tour. The building is in beautiful shape, but then it's brand new. They just built it last year. The rooms were pretty. They were a little higher end. They had crown molding. They had central air instead of air conditioners in the wall. They had rounded corners on the sheetrock and arches instead of square. It was a little higher end. I thought it was a little pretentious, though. When you walked into the main room, it was huge. The ceilings were 20 feet high. It was nice for some people, but it didn't feel cozy to me. I thought it felt kind of cold. I didn't like it, and it was way more expensive. The only person that we talked to there was the salesperson, and she was great. She was very informative and really easy to talk to. They showed us their exercise room, and it was this long skinny room that had two older pieces of gear, and that was it, there was nothing to it, and I thought, 'This is terrible.'"

"My father-in-law was at Byron Park. He was in the assisted care, but he had full time care. The food was not that good, but the staff was excellent. The facility was nice. The rooms were nice, and you had a choice of different sizes. It was clean. They had a pool and nice outdoor grounds. It was on a busy street, but it had grounds at the back. They needed to improve on the food, but I thought they were working on it. "

"This is a well-run facility with a family feeling. It has about 150 people, excellent food, exercise classes with planned visits ( no cost)to stores, rstaurants doctors etc. There is a weekly ride in the bus to see places in Marin County and San Francisco. The staff is amazingly kind, helpful and understands the disabilities of the clients. There are frequent special programs and nightly game night, movies night or bingo. It is a very pleasant place to llve--and the San Rafael climate can't be beat/ (Take it from someone who grew up in the east!) "

"It's been a month since I moved in at Deer Park. I think it's a great place. My room is very spacious and clean, and I have a beautiful view out my windows; it’s very nice. There is at least one thing going on every day. They have a movie theater that shows movies four or five times a week. There are also outings every Wednesday where we get on a bus and go into a city to see a play. Most days, there's about five or six things to do. "
