"The staff at The Ivy Berkeley was nice and professional. The rooms were very clean. The place was very new. I didn't have any issues with that. The patio looked nice and clean. They have rooftop access. We just quickly passed through the dining area because my mom was getting kind of tired, and it was a nice size. They had just finished with their lunch menu, and so the place wasn't clean, but the staff was working on it. There was a gate in the underground parking."

"My tour at Carlton Senior Living Pleasant Hill was fantastic. The person who gave me the tour was just wonderful. I liked the room, but I didn't like the way they divide a small space into a living room and a bedroom. I think a studio is a better idea. Other than that, I felt like the views were very nice. They had good activities and good food. I didn't taste the food, but I know that the staff eats their meals and they like the meals. The chef was from Napa. I was very impressed. I was excited because I thought my mom would love it. That was the first place she saw and she didn't like it. She didn't even go into the room. I know they had happy hour, a community garden, and probably the usual activities, but I don't remember. There was a couple that met there and had fallen in love. It just was very pleasant. I felt like the residents were happy. I felt like the staff interacted with the residents in a very nice and pleasant way. Many of the people that live there were volunteers. They sold their homes and lived there because they wanted to. They had cars and the parking lot was full of resident cars. I was impressed. It had a very homey feeling, but the room was so-so."

"Atria Park of Lafayette seemed very nice. The only thing was that they only had buses going to different places Monday to Thursday, and my husband goes to poker on Friday, so that was not going to work. They had bingo. They had large living areas and a library, but the rooms were small. "

"My husband has moved into Rose Cottage. They're very responsive to my needs. They take good care of my husband, and he seems to be doing well there. They keep up with everything. They make sure he has what he needs, medication-wise and food-wise. The least I like is the type of food. One reason why we chose it was the price. The staff was very friendly. They listen to what I say. They communicate with me if he needs something. The rooms are fine and meet our needs. He eats in his room, but they have a table if people want to eat out there in the dining area. He can get up, but they have to use a Hoyer lift, so they have that. They're very nice people. It's not the fanciest place, but it has a homey atmosphere. I'm happy there."

"Oakmont of Concord was very nice and very clean. The person during the tour was nice, answered all our questions, and was very helpful. The rooms were nice, but they weren't furnished. You had to supply your own bed and dresser. I did not eat there, but they showed the dining room to us and it looked very clean."

"The Point at Rockridge had a lot more staff than the other places we went to. The apartment was nice and they had very nice balconies. They also have tons of activities. They have art classes, outings to various places, TED talks, movies, game days, a happy hour every day (which I think was cool), and just so many things. They have a nice patio and a little bistro with a coffee bar, fresh fruits, and really good cookies."

"Had we chosen a facility, The Kensington would have been the place because that was the one we liked the most. But unfortunately, my uncle passed away last week. Overall, it was good. I liked it because it was not too big, and it had a community feel to it. My uncle was very active, and it seemed like they had enough activities for the residents. Everybody was very friendly. It looks like a place where they could live and do well and not a place they would go and die. There were a few that felt very different and that one didn't feel that way, and that's why I liked it."
