I want to put in a great word for Cozy Family Care in Hercules. It is now under new ownership, but I continue to be very happy with my 96 y.o. mom's placement last year. Her caregiver, Celia has been there for 9 years now and is a true blessing. She knows all, and communicates immediately by text when I have any questions or when she has any concerns. The rollercoaster transition in the beginning was challenging as I expected it would be but the addition of having such GREAT communication with the facility made things much more manageable especially compared to our expensive large memory care experience. The bright and sunny home setting add such a sense of calm and caring. Board and care facilities are definitely an underrated resource. Everyone's journey is different but I know my mom is in the right place at this time in her life. Cozy Family Care is a jewel among board & cares in the East Bay.

My mother is in Cozy Family Care. They have visits by nurses; although, they don't have an onsite nurse. The tour was very positive. They are not only friendly and very supportive to me and other visitors from my family, but they have taken very good care of my mom. She is comfortable and happy there, which is kind of a hard thing to achieve. The staff is very friendly, very helpful, and skilled enough to do their jobs. They are not medically trained professionals, but they go through certification training every year. They seem to be entirely on top of what they do. The room she is in is a good size. It is a medium-size, very clean, and attractive. It comes with a little bit of furniture, in addition to her bed. It has a nice view of the yard. They have a dining area, but my mother can't use it because she's bedridden. Overall, the living atmosphere is very good. Even though my mom can't participate in a lot of the stuff, every time I'm there I talk with other residents. They seem friendly, happy, and engaged (not only with me, but with each other). It seems like a good social environment. I wish their visiting hours were a little wider for those of us who are working or have constricted schedules. It's difficult to visit as often as I'd like because of their very limited visiting hours. They are not only very clean and well-maintained, but they are a new site. They are not worn down. It's a little more than what I wanted to spend, but it's also a lot less than some people charge.
