"Oakmont of Mariner Point was a very pleasant and elegant but quite a small community. The food and the staff were very good. They had a second community right next door they're associated with that facilities that the people at Oakmont could use. They had more activities than we would possibly take part in and do all day."

"The staff was very nice, very helpful, and explained everything about the prices and what services they offer. The rooms were fine and had a window, so there's some light coming in, which my mother would like. They had standard entrees every day, and if you don't want to eat what they have, you can pick from their a la carte menu. They had trips they can go out on and services to take you to the doctor. Everybody's very nice."

"Dimond Care seemed a little dark to me. It's just one floor, so I saw everything. The staff I met was very friendly, showed me different things, and let me tour the kitchen (which is kind of different). They're very helpful and answered all my questions. I also saw their common area, and it seemed clean and well-kept. It was just kind of dark to me. It's also a smaller assisted living facility. I saw a TV room. I think it's the common area, where I think they eat as well. They also had a few parking spaces. It's just a very small place."

"Bellaken Garden offer both assisted living and skilled nursing. I've referred three residents there, and it's been a good fit. One of the things I like about them is that they have hospice on site. That can be a good thing, since moving can be painful and traumatic. Bellaken Garden is in Oakland, close to the Oakland Hills. It's a serene area--secluded, on a hillside, very parklike, with views of the foothills. It's beautiful but not close to shopping. The have apartments for assisted living and room for skilled nursing. The apartments come in four floor plans. The facility itself is older but well kept up, and the ground are beautiful. They have 58 beds for assisted living. It's a gated community, and they have gardens and flowers like you wouldn't believe. The staff is exceptional. There's little turnover, and they well trained. The activities program is okay -- not the best but adequate. it's 7 days a week, from about 9 am to 4 pm, and they have a social worker assigned to each resident. The residents I've referred there all say the food is very good. They don't offer a lot of choice, but they have three meals a day. "

"Elders Inn was small and not organized facility. It doesn’t have the newness that the other facility we visited does. They have the amenities of service, healthy meals, and socialization. They have an interior garden, which is lovely. "

"Aldersly Garden has lovely surroundings, and when you go out your door, there are gardens. I like the staff. They are very courteous. I visited a one-bedroom apartment, and it is nice and big -- very adequate. They have three dining areas; one is for active seniors, one is for assisted seniors, and the last one is the nursing unit. The meal hours are quite extended, they are very generous with the time, there are about two choices every day, and they put out the list ahead of time so you can make your choice. They have a bus that takes you various places if you want to go out. They have card games, a nice library with quite a lot of books, physical activity, a gym, and an instructor, so you have a class, which is very nice. "

"I like where it's located. So I did looked at different places, but I'm not at the point where it would have to be a decision that is needed to be made right away. The only place that really matched for what I wanted was this facility. The staff is fine. I talked to them on the phone and they answered some of the questions I had. They also sent me the information I needed. I talked to a couple of people who know the place; it has a positive reputation. So based on that, I thought of all the places this is the one that I could see myself at. I think they're excellent, they have a lot of compassion, and there are more positive things than negative things compared to other continuing care retirement community. A lot of what I looked at was the location, reputation, and if I could see myself there. That's why I went to visit the place. "

"Ivy Park at Cathedral Hill was nice. All the people there were nice. They explained what it would involve getting my mom in, all the all the legal work and paperwork. They then gave me a tour of the facility, the kitchen area, and the rooms. They showed us both types of rooms. This facility is top-notch. Even though it's in the city, it was nice once you go inside. It has an open patio area. The personnel there were really good, and everybody there looked happy. The only thing was, the price was quite a bit more, so we didn't go for that one. Although the price was higher there, but it wasn't out of the world. Also, it would be kind of hard to park there. Otherwise, the facility was great. It looked nice; I was impressed by it. That was probably the best one we went into. They were informative, and they kept up contact."

"My mom has Alzheimer's-related dementia and has been living in the Coterie memory care ward since April 2023. Throughout her stay, the ward supervisor "Christina" and the rest of the memory care staff have done an exceptional job caring for her, while providing daily entertainment and activities designed to physically and mentally stimulate this challenging population."

"The Carlisle is an extremely upscale condominium for seniors and is great for elders who still want all the fabulous amenities. It is located in Lower Pac Heights in a quiet, but convenient location. At Post and Gough, it is just a few blocks away from Japantown, Fillmore St, Polk St, Whole Foods, and Safeway. "

"The staff was very nice and their food was good. They had a good cook. They had a lot of activities that were going on there. They had different groups that visit, which I appreciate, and people who brought in comfort dogs (I love dogs). As you go into the main entrance, they have a coffee shop area where they could curate their meals. They've got a nice big fireplace with chairs and couches around it. It was very comfortable."

"Sagebrook Senior Living is beautiful. I love it. It's just a bit too steep. They want $6,800 without the care, and that's kind of a bit too much for our income. The community is great. The view was fantastic. The accommodations were great. The staff was very nice and very helpful. The dining area was lovely. It had a piano and everything. It was really nice. I have nothing bad to say about it. We had lunch, and it was good. It looked like their families were there, so they were chatting and associating with their families, and then they went outside. It is old, and they're still doing construction."
