"Atria is beautiful, the area is very nice, and they have a wonderful dining area. The rooms are well-spaced according to the needs of somebody who is going to stay there. The people were very nice. The only setback was it was too expensive. My husband didn’t want to go to the facility all by himself, so it would have been the two of us. The food was very good. The people seemed to be happy, and we had a little interaction with the residents. Everybody said "Come and stay here, it’s a nice place." "

"Carlton Senior Living Pleasant Hill was wonderful. It's a beautiful facility. They're very pleasant and they gave us an amazing tour. It's just too expensive. The dining room looked beautiful. There was so much going on. They were playing card games and checkers, and they also have painting and puzzles. We came just before happy hour."

"The Point is a very friendly, compassionate, and well managed community. The activities are excellent. There is an on-site gym, and an on-site physical therapist, Tom, who runs classes and gives individual attention. The staff is terrific. The nurse, Rob, is knowledgable and dedicated. He's always available to answer questions. The facility is well maintained and always looks good. The rooms are really nice. There is a lot of light. The dining experience is great. Besides serving good food, a sense of community is fostered."

"The staff at The Ivy Berkeley was nice and professional. The rooms were very clean. The place was very new. I didn't have any issues with that. The patio looked nice and clean. They have rooftop access. We just quickly passed through the dining area because my mom was getting kind of tired, and it was a nice size. They had just finished with their lunch menu, and so the place wasn't clean, but the staff was working on it. There was a gate in the underground parking."

"Lake Park in Oakland has a vibrant independent living component. I like the physical layout quite a lot. The rooms were larger than some places I've visited. It's an older facility, but it has been renovated a lot. It's a large building, too. The staff members are very positive and very helpful. I tried the food, but it was not the highlight of the community. They have a limited menu, and they aren't making as big a deal out of it as some places do. There were a lot of large and small rooms that you could use for different things, whether you were doing crossword puzzles, you were sitting in their library, you were having your friends over, or you were watching films. There were lots of spaces and different options, and you could reserve those for what you wanted to do."

"My mother moved into Carlton Senior Living San Leandro. It's a very nice place aesthetically, the people are very nice, the food is good, they have a beautiful outdoor patio, and that is important for mom to be able to go outside and sit. Ultimately, I am happy with their care. The staff is very nice, communication between them is a little bit spotty, kinda hard to know who I say what to, but ultimately they're very compassionate people, they care about my mom, and that's what really counts. She is in a beautiful one-bedroom apartment with a nice view, it's quiet, and it's very nice. All through this they've been able to do indoor dining in the dining room if you want to eat your meals. Of course everybody is spread out, that's not the typical experience of eating together. They do have lots of books and games available, they have a game room, they have movies, exercise classes, bingo, that has all been going on throughout this pandemic. Of course a lot of the excursions have been cancelled, and big gatherings of the residents, so everything is socially distanced. Everybody wears masks when they're out of their rooms. They do have a beauty salon, and that has been opened throughout all this."

"The staff was very nice and their food was good. They had a good cook. They had a lot of activities that were going on there. They had different groups that visit, which I appreciate, and people who brought in comfort dogs (I love dogs). As you go into the main entrance, they have a coffee shop area where they could curate their meals. They've got a nice big fireplace with chairs and couches around it. It was very comfortable."

"We're considering it because it's a 10-minute walk from where we live. The overall experience with my tour was very good. We got a lot of information and we saw the facility. It was good. We saw several rooms. The place was clean, neat, and well-lit. It looked safe for the residents to be in. I would describe the staff as caring, thoughtful, and non-invasive."
