"Came in for a tour of the facility to see if it would be a match for my grandma. It was so welcoming. When we arrived, it literally smelled like chocolate chip cookies. The residents were so nice and engaging. My grandma isn't ready to move yet, but she knows Waters Edge is her first choice. "

"I visited. It was wonderful and seemed absolutely fabulous. I started to fantasize in my mind that I could afford it; then, I came down to reality and realized that my retirement would not be enough. They were very efficient and set up an appointment for me. There was a guy who called us and did a follow-up. They were great and really tried to make us feel so welcome. I wished I had a lot of money so I could go there. There were two bathrooms, one fitted-out for a disabled person. There weren't any stairs, so we would not have to walk up and down. There was a separate living quarters for independent living across the street from the facility. It was much nicer than it had to be and roomy. The buses were taking people here and there. There was a rose garden to sit in. Everybody was kind. The food and all-inclusive meals looked great."

"It was one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen in my life. It was immaculate. The staff was pleasant and kind. I was there around Halloween time, so they were getting ready for a Halloween party. It was rich-looking. It was off the water, you could see the boats, and it had a nice view. Everything was just unbelievably breathtaking. The landscaping was very well-manicured. Everything was just in place, everything was beautiful. They had a garden area. The front of the building almost looked like a 5-star hotel. In the middle of the facility was the garden with beautiful flowers, plants, and trees where you could sit, with sun visors. The staff who assisted me with the tour was pleasant. She was in a rush to get the party started, but she was very professional. She had a beautiful smile and she was dressed properly."

"Our experience was very good. The staff seemed to be interested in introducing the place to me. They knew what they wanted and they were courteous to me. I could only see the rooms that were not being used, and of course they've cleaned them up, so they were clean."

"When I could no longer care for my husband alone we moved to Byron Park. We chose an appartment that has 1 Bedroom one bath and a Den. The appartmen in Assisted Living had just recently been renovated and is very comfortable. We have a new Executive Chef and the food is great. There activities all day long, as well as outings for shopping, dining out and entertainment and bus/van service to appointments. There is also a heated swimming pool and a great hot tub. My husband received excellent care from the Assisted Living Staff. Since he passed away I have had loving support from the staff and the many friends I have made here. I plan on staying here and highly recommend to you and/or you loved ones. "

"We toured Atria at Foster Square, it was comparable to the other places I toured in the area. They have activities like swimming and card games. Their rooms were the same size as the other community I saw, but overall, they're more affordable. I met one staff member who took us around on the tour and he was knowledgeable."

"Positives: Excellent food, enough for 2 meals. Wonderful amenities, activities, clubs, trips. One of the very few locations offering 3 bedroom apartments. Parking is tight, but they did get us a spot and small storage bin. Good location very close to downtown. Absolutely beautiful area. Nice library. Needs improvement: When packages delivered, they would not accept them and hold for 2 days while she was in the hospital so she could pick them up. When there was smoke in the hallway from a roof construction incident, no one at the front desk would call 911. They said they "needed authorization" first. Assisted living not possible, only choice is outside help. Area was not designed for assisted living- toilets were low, stairs were everywhere, long way around to avoid them."

"I found Emeritus to be a delightful location. I liked that it was in Fremont, and it was located in a very central area. It was very close to shopping, public transportation, parks, and recreation. It was far less expensive than the other places I've checked out. They don't have a buy-in; they just had a monthly fee. They offer independent, assisted, and full care, but you had to go in independently and not assisted living initially. The staff was really helpful and went out of their way to let me ask questions. They were very polite, and they seemed to care. They allowed me to share a lunch with them. The supply three meals a day, and the food was in small portions but tasty. They have a menu that they post for the month, and they also have a salad bar. They had studio, one, and two-bedrooms. All the rooms had balconies, which was a nice touch, with a refrigerator, burner, and string that you could pull to call for help. They had a heater and air-conditioner. They had activities, and when I was there, they were doing a form of tai chi. They had trips all the time too, going everywhere. They had free trips locally like to museums and parks. They had trips to gambling places, to San Francisco, and to other countries. They also took them shopping two times a week. They had an indoor pool, which was nice, but it would be better if it were bigger. "

"It was great. Michael was the guy who gave me a tour, and then he gave my mom a tour the next day. They had a dining area, a living area, a computer area, an activity room, a lounging room, and a beauty salon, and everything was established, so I would highly recommend it to someone. When my mom is ready, I certainly would be using Carlton. I looked at a one-bedroom and one of the two-bedrooms, and they could be a little bigger, but for one person, the bedroom area was OK. The kitchen area was kind of small, but then they are not doing any cooking because all the cooking is done for them in the dining area. "

"I've been to the Belmont Village Albany. We were shown the independent living. Although I know where the assisted living was, we did not go into that area. The woman who gave us the tour was very good. I thought she covered all the bases. We sat down before the tour and she explained everything very well. In our situation where my cousin is very touchy about her dementia, she never referred to her, but she just talked about the care offered to seniors in such a way that normalized the whole situation of "your memory is not quite what it was." She didn't say it the way I say it, but she just made that all sound very normal and that was just part of life there. I thought they did an excellent job. The staff was always friendly. We were introduced to the librarian and some care assistants. They were sitting in a breakroom and everyone was quite friendly. I like that they had fresh flowers on the table. It was a very beautiful arrangement. I liked that kind of attention to detail and that kind of life. It's an apartment-like facility, but it had several verandas. It had an outdoor space for people who wanted to garden. There was an outdoor eating area off of the dining hall. They had a casual eating area. They had a small gym and also an exercise room where someone did classes. It was a beautiful facility."

"Aldersly Garden has lovely surroundings, and when you go out your door, there are gardens. I like the staff. They are very courteous. I visited a one-bedroom apartment, and it is nice and big -- very adequate. They have three dining areas; one is for active seniors, one is for assisted seniors, and the last one is the nursing unit. The meal hours are quite extended, they are very generous with the time, there are about two choices every day, and they put out the list ahead of time so you can make your choice. They have a bus that takes you various places if you want to go out. They have card games, a nice library with quite a lot of books, physical activity, a gym, and an instructor, so you have a class, which is very nice. "

"We loved it. It was an older facility, but it was very nicely appointed. It was very warm from the minute you walked in. Everyone was very friendly. The dining area had just been remodeled, and it was very nice. We had lunch there, and the food was great. They had crab night once a week, which was really out of the ordinary. I liked that it was very oriented to the people who lived there. They had wonderful amenities and great activities. "

"Cadence Millbrae has been good for my mother-in-law. She enjoys it there and they take care of her well. They have good service. Everything's fine and they're going to remodel it. They have music, bingo, and readings. Their staff is competent, and the food is excellent."
