"Waters Edge Lodge was a great place and working with the people there has been great. It's a great location. The rooms were above average and nice. The only thing I would say that I was a little disappointed with was that there's no air-conditioning in the rooms. There's air-conditioning in the hallways, but that was the only thing that took me back a little bit. They have exercise classes, outings, a walkway around the property by a lagoon, and a small game room that's near the front of the facilities. They have a pretty large dining room. They have an activity room and a patio area. The staff was very attentive and friendly."

"I visited Marymount Villa, and they were excellent. They were very clean, well organized, and they seemed like to have quite a few activities for the seniors; like bingo and music. They had a list of activities. The rooms were pretty spacious, and well maintained. I did not taste the food, but they had a full-menu available. The director helped me tour the property, and he answered all my questions. Overall, it was good. "

"Bethesda is a lovely place to live! The majestic redwood trees towers over this facility. As I walk down an isle in the garden that blooms with colorful roses, a bench in the garden to sit and enjoy the outdoors. Some residents there can plant their own vegetable garden or flower garden. On special occasions there are picnics outdoors. During Christmas time the trees are decorated with festive lights. Inside I've seen the residents there paint, play bingo, participate in singing activities. The residents there are content, and eat well. They are happy! There are pets allowed to roam around the facility, such as: birds, cats, and a fish tank. Occasionally the home will provide a large dog with its owner for a visit for the residents for social activities. Bethesda is fun and has a supportive environment. "

"I went to see Bridgepoint at Los Altos, which is a totally different type of place. It's not in good condition, and the rooms are very small. It's a very different atmosphere, and it's not elegant. I think the activity there is feeding you. You go down to breakfast, lunch, and dinner. There are no reservations. You just mingle. I think it's an older group and a less affluent group. You still pay the high cost of care, and it isn't much different than all the other places. It's a monthly thing you put down. It is a hundred dollars down to put you on the list, but you get that back. You're only paying monthly. You go from regular living to assisted living; then I think beyond that, you'd have to go someplace else if you had memory issues or anything. I toured the independent living, and the young man there was delightful. The place is not divided though, and you don't change rooms for all these cares. The care comes to your room. It's not at all like a hotel. You don't make reservations for dinner and anything. It might meet my temporary needs better than the others, but it isn't a five-star in terms of anything like beauty or size of rooms. I had a friend there. She and her husband moved in for a month. She said it has wonderful food. It just seemed like an older group. Her husband couldn't find anyone to talk to because the residents were so old, and they both like going out. You don't have to put any money down. It can go from $7,000 to maybe even up to $12,000 a month, depending on how much care you need. That is sort of in line with other places. You wouldn't get a nice room and you wouldn't have a hotel experience, but it seemed like a friendlier place when I walked in. More people were moving around and talking to each other. I don't know about the activities, but it seems like more people were interacting there because they all had to come down to meals. All three meals were provided. I think if somebody needed a temporary place and were going somewhere else, it wouldn't be a bad place."

"It was beautiful and very clean. They had very nice people, and it would be perfect for my friend. She would love it. The staff was very helpful, very nice and very informative. We did have some lemon water. The facilities were beautiful and looked brand new. We didn't get to see the whole building though. We kind of ran out of time because we had a lot to talk about and she had some more people coming in, but she said she was going to try to fax my friend's doctor and find out what her status was if she had dementia or not. The facility was very nice, very spacious, and very clean. We saw a sitting area, and there's a bunch of couches and chairs and very comfortable furniture there."

"Aldersly Retirement was light and airy. The apartments were garden-style, not in a high-rise building. The garden area was first class. The food was very good. I sat with five other men, who love it there."

"Coterie Cathedral Hill Memory Care was the perfect place for my sister. My highest praise goes to the director Christina and to each member of the staff for their skillful and competent care for each resident as an individual. Daily I observed how much they truly cared for not only the residents but also their families. My family and I learned to understand better what was happening with my sister who was diagnosed with dementia and learned how to better respond to her. Monthly support group provided helpful advice and experience sharing. Daily activities were carefully planned to be fun, engaging and appropriate. Meals were delicious and inviting. I will always be grateful to everyone at Coterie Memory Care for making my sister happy and most of all for making her feel at home.."

"We have chosen Carlton Senior Living Fremont for my mother-in-law. The staff was really nice and helpful; I was impressed with the staff. The facility itself is very nice, it's very clean, and all the COVID protocols were in place, which was impressive. My mother-in-law has had some trouble adjusting. Other than that it's close by, and we can keep close tabs on her. She's only been there for a little under two weeks now. She's in a small studio apartment. It has plenty of room for what she needs. It has a sink, a refrigerator, and a large pantry. The bathroom is large enough that she can move around in her walker, and the shower is a walk-in, which is a large shower for her. They have shuttles for taking residents to doctors' appointments and to the shopping center. They have a game room, a library, and a beautiful courtyard. They put out a monthly newsletter with all the activities that are coming up. She's up on the third floor, and it may be difficult for her to get around without any assistance. I see a lot of residents roaming around, visiting, and they're just starting to open up some of their activities."

"I saw Heritage on the Marina for the fourth time now. It’s a three-tiered community with independent living, assisted living, and skilled nursing. I like the cleanliness, the friendliness, the knowledgeability, the quality, and the payment structure of the whole place. They don’t have any rooms to be seen available right now because they are refurbishing. "
