"Belmont Village is brand new, so there were a lot of people during open house. It was kind of hectic and crazy, but my questions were answered. It's a bit pricey, but it looked beautiful. The rooms looked comfortable. The person who showed me around was informative. The dining area looked very nice."

"Came in for a tour of the facility to see if it would be a match for my grandma. It was so welcoming. When we arrived, it literally smelled like chocolate chip cookies. The residents were so nice and engaging. My grandma isn't ready to move yet, but she knows Waters Edge is her first choice. "

"We have recently signed in with Cadence Millbrae. We just completed the paperwork this this week, so my mom won't be moving in until 2022. The pricing was very good. They are newly remodeled. The community director and the sales director were very friendly. The staff that we met, they all seemed very pleasant. From what we saw, everything looked very clean. They're still remodeling, so some common areas are still from the old facility. All the new ones are very updated and modern. We only went to the model room and the dining area. We saw the arts and crafts room, and that's all new. They have arts and crafts, games, and puzzles. There was an ice cream social going on when we visited. There were also movies."

"I visited. It was wonderful and seemed absolutely fabulous. I started to fantasize in my mind that I could afford it; then, I came down to reality and realized that my retirement would not be enough. They were very efficient and set up an appointment for me. There was a guy who called us and did a follow-up. They were great and really tried to make us feel so welcome. I wished I had a lot of money so I could go there. There were two bathrooms, one fitted-out for a disabled person. There weren't any stairs, so we would not have to walk up and down. There was a separate living quarters for independent living across the street from the facility. It was much nicer than it had to be and roomy. The buses were taking people here and there. There was a rose garden to sit in. Everybody was kind. The food and all-inclusive meals looked great."

"Ernie from Marymount Villa was very accommodating and very friendly. He took us around the building and showed us the room type that they have, whether it was shared or private. The rooms were great and big enough for either a shared or private tenancy. The drawback for us is the physical location. It is a five-story building. They have a balcony or a terrace on the second floor and that was nice, but it was just limited to that. I like their dining area. It's nice and wide and it's an open space. They have a salon and a small courtyard within the compound. The one plus thing that I do like about Marymount Villa is that it's a gated building. It gives us security and confidence of safety."

"It is modern and new. It's like a very nice motel. They have a lot of amenities. It was comfortable. They have a nice dining room, a social area where they have various activities, and a very nice theater in the lower level with a big screen and comfortable chairs. The place had fire doors that closed automatically when there was a fire alarm. The staff that I met seemed very organized and experienced. I did meet with one of the residents. She showed me her apartment, and she seemed very comfortable there. They have a morning and evening walking group."

"My father and his wife moved to Drake's Terrace two years ago, and it's fantastic for them on many levels. Convenience: no need to shop for groceries, cook, or clean Social: built in new friendships with other interesting people; regular comraderie at meals, And more. Stimulating: all sorts of intellectual, arts, and music activities offered daily Health: exercise classes including walks, stretching and tai chi Safety I can't imagine a more down to earth and pleasant environment that offers safety, convenience, social outlets and much more. As a concerned and loving daughter, I'm very pleased my Dad and his wife reside here. "

"My wife and I are current residents of Landmark Villa. It's a nice facility. Its environment is fine. Residents here are great. We have a two-bedroom apartment with a kitchen. Our apartment is just fine. This facility offers different activities. The activity director would try to get us out of our room. However, we just don't participate in any of their activities. I looked around and a lot of people don't participate because they're kind of like not into it. Food is okay. However, because I'm diabetic with high blood pressure, there's a lot of things I can't eat in this place. The caregivers in this facility are superb; however, they don't have enough people. They try to make do with what they have. They're stretching everybody out; they can only spend little time with the residents. What they promised, they can't produce with the people that they have. They don't have enough people to manage this facility. I'm 78 years old and I don't want to move anymore. I'm tired of moving. I'm okay with this facility but my wife is not happy here. She is not used to this type of thing. "

"Bethesda is a lovely place to live! The majestic redwood trees towers over this facility. As I walk down an isle in the garden that blooms with colorful roses, a bench in the garden to sit and enjoy the outdoors. Some residents there can plant their own vegetable garden or flower garden. On special occasions there are picnics outdoors. During Christmas time the trees are decorated with festive lights. Inside I've seen the residents there paint, play bingo, participate in singing activities. The residents there are content, and eat well. They are happy! There are pets allowed to roam around the facility, such as: birds, cats, and a fish tank. Occasionally the home will provide a large dog with its owner for a visit for the residents for social activities. Bethesda is fun and has a supportive environment. "

"This facility is located right off of Tice Valley Boulevard, which is a nice and central part of Walnut Creek. Originally, Byron Park offered only independent living, but last year, added assisted living, too. This has been a very welcome development for residents already there, since now there are more options for them to stay and age in place. There is no dedicated memory care. Visitors encounter one strange detail at first: There's no parking right outside in front"”although there's valet set-up so people can be dropped off near the front door. The parking is next to the building, and it's not clear how to get in. This could be a drawback for those who are not able to ambulate easily. There's a courtyard with a big yard that's nicely landscaped. The building is distinctive, as it looks kind of like a castle; some of the rooms even have turrets. It looks small from the outside, but that's a mirage. In the back, it opens up onto a courtyard, with many buildings for housing. There are 17 different kinds of floor plans for residents to choose from: studios to two-bedroom, two-bath units. The living spaces are quite spacious and well-designed. Once inside the main building, there's a reception desk with mandatory sign-in, overseen by a friendly and personable staff member. There is no grand foyer, but a room of more intimate scale that feels more like a regular apartment building. Throughout, the place is clean and elegant, but not ostentatious or overwhelming huge"”although it does have a spacious feel and open feeling. The common spaces include a family room, living room and dining rooms, with menus that allow residents to pick and choose a combination of foods daily. The hallways are a bit narrower than most newer buildings, so sometimes, there is a bit of traffic congestion when several residents with walkers are getting to the dining room at the same time. Best of all, the residents seem happy"”and many of them are out and about, going to meals, talking with one another. There seem to be more active individuals here than at many other such facilities. The staff is attentive. In independent living, they contract out with an agency to provide in-home service, which residents can buy at an additional cost; that helps many people bridge the gap between independent and assisted living. This facility may be an especially good fit for couples who are still active. Byron Park maintains a good website, which provides lots of information including costs of care and housing, which starts at $3,165 for a studio and $4,970 for a two-bedroom, two-bath unit. "
