"My mother is with Aldersly. They offer many activities for residents and provide services. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. It's a totally different living environment than what I'm used to, but the room sizes were plenty for my mother. They have workout areas for the retirement community. Of course, they're very different from the workout gyms that people my age would use. Their dining facilities are very nice, and they have excellent cooks. I think it provides good service and good living facilities for the money, so we're satisfied. We have no complaints about the financial situation."

"I saw Heritage on the Marina for the fourth time now. It’s a three-tiered community with independent living, assisted living, and skilled nursing. I like the cleanliness, the friendliness, the knowledgeability, the quality, and the payment structure of the whole place. They don’t have any rooms to be seen available right now because they are refurbishing. "

"Waters Edge Lodge is a wonderful residence for seniors who are mobile. It is close to a small shopping centre and along a beautiful waterway. The staff is exceptional and there are many activities that residents can participate in. The fees are reasonable. My father was here for 8 years and was well cared for. "

We saw several rooms. The place was clean, neat, and well-lit. It looked safe for the residents to be in. I would describe the staff as caring, thoughtful, and non-invasive."

"It was nice. The lady was very knowledgeable and nice. It's a nice location. The grounds were nice. There's a lot of greenery. It's close to the highway. The first studio that was shown was the lowest price. It was extremely small, smaller than a hospital room, so I didn't care for that. The bigger size studios were nice, but a little small as well. Other than that, it was nice. The dining area was nice. They had group tables. When I was there, most people were in the dining room eating."

"I've been to the Belmont Village Albany. We were shown the independent living. Although I know where the assisted living was, we did not go into that area. The woman who gave us the tour was very good. I thought she covered all the bases. We sat down before the tour and she explained everything very well. In our situation where my cousin is very touchy about her dementia, she never referred to her, but she just talked about the care offered to seniors in such a way that normalized the whole situation of "your memory is not quite what it was." She didn't say it the way I say it, but she just made that all sound very normal and that was just part of life there. I thought they did an excellent job. The staff was always friendly. We were introduced to the librarian and some care assistants. They were sitting in a breakroom and everyone was quite friendly. I like that they had fresh flowers on the table. It was a very beautiful arrangement. I liked that kind of attention to detail and that kind of life. It's an apartment-like facility, but it had several verandas. It had an outdoor space for people who wanted to garden. There was an outdoor eating area off of the dining hall. They had a casual eating area. They had a small gym and also an exercise room where someone did classes. It was a beautiful facility."

"The person I've been talking to at Marymount Villa is a very pleasant person. The place seems to be very clean. The rates are on the high side, but it's not a bad facility at all."

"We were able to visit The Vincent. It was not a building that was converted, so I liked that it was built originally for seniors. The walls are soundproof. The food was excellent. The amenities are great. The staff members that we met were knowledgeable. They train their caregivers there at the facility. It's not a corporate facility, but they have everything a person could want. We actually left a deposit to hold a room, but the only problem with them is that the room is on the third floor. My friend has mobility issues, and so he is afraid of being on any floor in case there is an earthquake or a fire. He is afraid that he would not be able to get out of the building, and that's his only hesitation. I was going to call back to see if there was any chance that they would have a resident that wanted to move up to the third floor, and so my friend is definitely looking for a ground floor. They offer a discount on the community fee. The building had a very warm and natural feeling. The grab bars looked like chair molding around the walls. They had linen tablecloths and a full table setting service. Everything was just top-notch and clean. There is a library, and they have what's running in the theater now in their movie facility, so it's not old movies. At The Vincent, it was like eating in a restaurant. It was pizza day the day that we were there, and they had their own brick pizza oven to cook pizzas. To order from the menu, everything was fresh, and nothing frozen. It was a totally different experience."

"Drake Terrace was a very nice place. It would probably be our second choice for the waiting list. It is a little farther from the area we wanted to be in, but it is very nice. We like this place. They have a small coffee area/library, an exercise room, and a cafeteria. The dining area looked very nice. The whole place seemed very nice. Everybody was very friendly. It was very welcoming. They had nice apartments too."
