"I am the daughter of a patient in memory care. Because I live out of state, I am very grateful for the caring staff who has shown real concern for my mother. The facility is old, and not fancy, but my mother's happiness is of paramount importance, and she is happy and content there most of the time. The main challenge is that the phone system needs work, and it's hard to get someone to answer the phone at times. Over the 5 years my mother has been there, I have learned to trust the level of her care. My mother often sings and dances in their musical evening events."

"My husband was in Shadelands Post-Acute for two weeks, for rehab. I liked it for its cleanliness and space, and it didn't have locked doors. They have a system there where they have a certain amount of portable cell phones, just like a regular phone. And they give you this chart and certain room numbers, and so you can call that and they will bring a phone to the resident. The staff was okay, but it was hard to get information from them. The place does not smell of urine. It's immaculate. The bathrooms are immaculate. It's incredible. The rooms are on each side of a central hall, but the hall is large and airy, and that's where they have some tables for people to sit outside, or visit. They have physical therapy there. This place is like walking into a hotel. It's amazing for what it is."

"I was in the need of a nursing home inbetween my stays at the hospitals. I had the pleasure of staying at Bayberry. Not only did they take care of my medical needs but they handled the emotional needs of a young woman who had lost her mobility. The food was excellent, the therapy I recieved was good and the employees went out of their way to help me with my daily tasks that I found difficult. Although I depended on the nurses so much, some how through their kindness and understanding I kept my dignity. "

"There are activities every morning in the dining room ranging from morning exercises, balloon toss, residents would play with a parachute, they would bake, etc. I observed the nurses to be prudent in their care, but I have witnessed some breeches in protocol. Small things involving meds and treatments, but nothing too significant. The facility itself is relatively clean. I would see the help mopping the floors daily. The patio/ backyard area is very well maintained. Beautiful greenery around the walkway which lead to some benches around some flower bushes. The CNA's are generally loving and friendly with the patients. I see them joking and actively conversing with the patients throughout their morning care. One thing i noticed to be a recurring thing is that call lights tend to be unanswered for awhile. This may be due to low census for the day or the busyness of the staff, but there are times where patient's have to wait a couple minutes before a light is answered. "

"My mother was at Tampico Terrace for 3 weeks. I give them very high marks. First, everyone I interacted with was really friendly and supportive. Second, they were very informative. If I asked a question of a nurse or therapist, they responded with clear information that had been entered into their system. Their responses were clear and data-driven. Finally, the administrative staff was incredibly helpful and informative regarding insurance and other coverage questions. They really made things easier on my father and me. "

"Windsor Manor was really good, and they seem to do really well for my mother. There was a mix up at one point wherein they said she can stay there until a certain date. It was like the left arm didn't know what the right arm was doing. They said she has to be off on Friday, but they told me I had another week, so they ended up having to give her another week at no charge. It is hard for me to deal with any of the senior places. But they were good to her, and they really rehab her very well at Windsor Manor. The rehab people were really good. The place was clean, and every time I saw the food, it was very nice. She wouldn't do the other stuff they had going on. The only thing she had to do was wait for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and her rehab. She treated it kind of like a spa. It was fine, and the place is good. I have no complaints about the place. "

"I stayed at ManorCare, and it was excellent as it had more machines and more things to do in the therapy department. It was clean, and the rooms were nice. The food was OK. "

"This is a very large skilled nursing facility located near Rossmoor, a large senior adult community. Overall, I've had a pretty positive impression of the place. They offer extraordinarily good rehab: OT, PT, and ST. But it's all group therapy, and some of my clients haven't liked that. That's rare, though. Most people feel encouraged by the group. Therapy is offered two times a day and on Saturday, if needed. That's unusual and a real plus. Also, if a patient is in the John Muir Medical System, a physician from John Muir is there 8 hours a day. That's really extraordinary and a real plus. Another plus: They have a beautiful garden courtyard, with roses and shade trees, that's amazing, just stunning. One negative: The food isn't good. It's mediocre at best, very institutional. The only other negative is that parking can be difficult. "

"Right now my friend is at Stonebrook and it's a good nursing home. They were great. I love the staff there. I have no complaints about this facility, they are fantastic. The nurses are very friendly and very caring. "

"My wife is now at Manorcare at Tice Valley. Sometimes the staff members get stretched a little thin but for the most part, it is a 5-star place. The place is very clean. The staff members are very nice. They have been trained to smile at everybody. I have eaten a few guest meals there and the food is excellent. The grounds are nice. There are fresh linens in the dining room, and they do a nice job about group disabilities. They keep the people together so that means that the care can become more consistent. Although my wife doesn't participate in activities, they appear to be very extensive everything from ice cream social, to bingo, and to zumba. The staff members are very pleasant. They're always there to help. If residents are struggling with something like opening a door or pushing a wheelchair, the staff members immediately come to your assistance."

"Rooms are clean, and decent sized. Staff is always helpful and polite. Residents do have things to do if capable. Bingo,movies , coloring. They do have TV in rooms . There is a cable fee that the resident pays. Which is pretty much the norm for most the places in the area."

"I liked Orinda Care Center. The rooms were small and could use some updating. It looked like they had some activities that the people were engaged in. There wasn't much grounds; it was all parking. I liked the feel of it. I am upset that my husband is not able to get in there; unfortunately, they are not taking him at this time. The layout is nice. I wish that they would have more outdoor areas because there aren't any outdoor areas for them now. I think that would be very important for them to be able to go outside. I only saw one room, and it looked well kept. The staff person was very nice. "
