My husband is at The Farmstead at Dixon Senior Living. He has a studio that's very roomy. He can have his cats with him. And he has access to a courtyard from his room. The food is amazing. They have a restaurant, and they have a menu they can choose from. I can go and eat with him. They make food for older people, but it's different. My husband can choose from a hamburger or a pizza if he doesn't like whatever is on the menu. The staff is really nice. They're amazing. They have a little bus, they have activities over there, and they exercise every day. My husband doesn't join everything, but he can make himself busy all day long. They also take them out shopping if they want to. I can take him home, too, if I want to. I think the price is very reasonable.

The Farmstead at Dixon Senior Living is a fairly new facility. It was a little too pricey. However, they seemed to offer a lot of extras, like they had an ice cream bar. It just was a very homey experience. Walking in it was very comfortable. I was impressed with their activities and their facilities in general. It was nice. With regard to the staff though, I wouldn't buy a used car from them because they were sales staff. However, they had a lot of activities going on. The only things that were negative were the location and the price.

The Farmstead at Dixon Senior Living is family-owned. They have several other facilities. This one is brand new, and it recently opened. We felt it would be a better place for her because they would go ahead and start her in assisted living, and if they needed to move her into memory care, they also offered that, so that way we wouldn't have to continue to move her. We met the owner and the nursing staff. They had a grand opening and a Super Bowl party. They have a restaurant-type setting with a set menu. If you're not interested in the set menu, they have a secondary menu. The food was very good. And we liked the fact that there were options. They have several activities. The activities change daily, but they also have a movie theater. If you wanted to go watch a movie, you could do that. They have a little snack bar concession in there. They had a library, and they had a little computer section. There was just a wide variety to involve the residents.
