"My mom was a resident of Magnolia Court. It was excellent, but my mom has since passed. But Magnolia was magnificent. I give it a ten-plus rating. The nurses were very efficient, the other care workers were just nice. My mom felt at home and safe. I would recommend them highly. She was in assisted living, but she was very sick and took a lot of medication. She had breathing problems and they took care of everything. I ate there the first day with my mother, and it was excellent. I had my grandson with me, and he said he's never had better food and he's nine years old. He said, "this food is amazing." And my mom loves it. She never had a bad meal. It felt like home. Right when you walk in the door, it was just cozy. And that's what my mom needed, something that felt just like home. Her bedroom was set up just perfectly. I could put everything in, from her bedroom and her TV, everything fit perfectly. In the other places, it didn't seem like I had the room perfectly like that. I checked out the sizes of the rooms and it just was the fit. She did the activities. I even have videos that the staff sent me of my mother involved in the activities, which is a memory I have now. They have so many. They have bingo and puzzles. They have a library where my mom spent time. She played three of the games and she enjoyed all of them. She got active. They had Follow the Leader and my mom was the leader at the time. And I have a video of that, too. The price was a bargain for the care my mom needed. She needed a nurse so many times a day, five times just for breathing sessions where she had to use a nebulizer. And it was done like clockwork. She took 15 medications a day, and that's beside the breathing treatments. And everything was spot on. My mom felt at home and people were so friendly that the people that served her food in the eating area knew her name. And that's a big thing. They don't wear name tags there. The people just remember your name all the time. And that's what made her feel at home."

"My mother-in-law has moved into the Carlton Senior Living Davis. She's in their assisted living, and it's just been excellent. Everybody's been very helpful, kind, and pleasant. The place is just immaculate and beautiful. They have lots of activities and have good food. We chose it because of just everything that we saw. The staff was very nice, presentable, and very helpful. The place just looks beautiful. The activity list was good, and we heard that the chef is really excellent. They have a beauty parlor on-site, too."

"My grandma was a resident of the community about 10yrs ago. She was so happy there. I only remember great things from visiting her. So now that it is time for my mom to look into a retirement community I of course wanted to re discover The Californian. I am so happy i did. It is still owned and managed by the same great family. Some employees i even recognized & they recognized me too! I was so warm & inviting. The building has only gotten better with age just like my mom. Everything is updated and modern but its still the same great food, great fun & happy people. Both the people who live there and employees were smiling and inviting us to join them for happy hour snacks. The young woman who took us around was so informative, caring and bubbley. She has worked in elder care all her adult life. It is so nice to know that the people who work there honestly care for the people they take care of. It makes this hard decision just a little less stressful having that piece of mind. I could even have her come out to our house to meet and evaluate my mom! Now that's service! i am so pleased and impressed by the facility i know we will be making the correct decision to place my mom here. "

"My mom stayed in Comforts of Home - Riverside for a few days. I met all the staff, they were all very nice, and I liked them all very well. The food was good. It looked nutritious, and it's well balanced. I also loved the layout. It was great, and I just liked that it was open and people in wheelchairs or walkers could get around easily. My mom wasn't able to do any activities, but I would imagine just based on everything else that they were very good. They had a really nice backyard with a nice deck, so when the weather's nice, they could go out and sit out there. It's a great place."

"I've been to Woodland Gardens Senior Living a couple of times to look at their assisted living facility for my brother. The intake person was very helpful, answered all my questions, and was very personable. The facility itself was clean, and the residents seemed to be happy there. Their apartments were a pretty good size. The only complaint I would have is that one of the rooms, I don't know if it was freshly painted or not, had a little bit of an odor to it. They gave me a sheet of their activities, and I think they offer bingo and have ice cream socials. I can't remember what else they have, but I would say they have a nice variety of activities for the residents. My brother is a veteran, and one of his friends from high school, who is also a veteran, lives there. Another gentleman veteran was also there, the second time I visited. I just thought my brother might feel more comfortable in a place where there are other veterans."

"My mom's at Grand River Care Center-West and she's pretty happy where she is at. I've gotten to know the staff and the manager there. She has fallen a couple of times and they have dealt with it quickly, they've contacted me quickly, and they've taken care of her afterwards. They keep her comfortable and clean, they do her laundry, and they give her food. She's starting to show dementia and the staff and the manager have helped me with that. It's easy to talk to them. She has friends there. There's a sense of community. They have music, church services on Sunday, and bingo. I wish that they had more activities going on. The people know her and take care of her. Also, the pharmacy delivers her medications to her. This place is not that expensive and she has her own room. They don't have snacks in the afternoon or fresh fruit as often as I would like to see. It's not fancy, but it is clean. She moved there because her husband was there for five years."
