I toured Bloomingdale Horizon. It's a very nice place. I would love to have the opportunity to live there. The apartment was spacious and clean, and Judy was very friendly.

I was a resident of Bloomingdale Horizon. It's all independent living there, but they have caregivers come in and help people out. With that being said, if you can't take care of yourself, it pushes you out the door. When I first moved there, it was nice, and I was able to go out, and we could barbecue and stuff. I could smoke a cigar on my balcony and have friends over. And then, as the years went by, they started tightening up and cracking the whip. They made it a nonsmoking community, which meant that you couldn't even smoke in the parking lot. I wasn't happy living there, and that was for over a year. Judy is a nice lady, and she's been very nice to me, but she pushed me out the door. On the one hand, she was trying to be nice to me, and on the other hand, she was going by what they were telling her to do. So, it's very hard. They don't serve food, but they have pizza parties and events, and the village supplies the food at little to no cost to the residents. And those are okay, but the pizza parties and stuff like that are too much politics; you have to be involved. You just can't go there and mind your own business because everybody else wants to know about you.
