Claiborne at West Lake

After my father passed away last year my 91 year old mom decided to finally move into an assisted living facility. I was in charge of going to all of the different places that offered the care she was looking for. After extensively researching several we felt that The Claiborne was by far the best and a nice bonus was that it was less expensive than the others. Everyone there is very attentive to her needs and her health has actually improved over the past year. That doesn’t mean they’re perfect, but any issues we’ve encountered have been addressed to our satisfaction. With the onset of the pandemic I must say that I felt a huge wave of relief knowing that she was in a safe place instead of home alone. The staff was steadfast on all safety concerns and there were no incidents like we heard about in other places in our area. They always keep me up to date by email or a phone call if needed. Any time I’ve called there to ask questions they have always answered them and communicated well. Mom is very happy there and has made many friends despite the lockdown. They have lot’s of activities to keep their residents busy. There are all the amenities you can think of and they all are run by excellent staff. One major difference I noticed myself is the ease everyone has of getting around compared to the other places I visited. Every other one I went to had narrow halls that forced anyone with a walker or wheelchair to have to move aside when someone was passing by. Claiborne has very large open spaces especially where the residents gather and in the main hallways. This may not seem like a big deal but I saw for myself how uncomfortable it was for the residents to move around elsewhere so I was impressed with that detail. Last but not least, with mom’s care plan there was a significant cost savings compared to ALL of the other choices in our area, which was surprising considering how beautiful the place is. I thought we made a good decision then and I still feel that way today. If you’re considering assisted living or memory care for yourself or your family do yourself a favor and take the time to visit. I have always been satisfied with the high level of professionalism that you get from the front desk all the way up to the manager. They’ve helped us the entire way through the adjustment and I couldn’t imagine myself or mom being treated any better anywhere. It’s a great place, you’ll see!

My mother has very much enjoyed living at the Claiborne since it’s opening. It is an inviting and beautiful facility. The size and design of her apartment is just right for her and the staff is attentive and so caring. She loves to participate in the variety of activities that are offered. Great care, positive interaction with staff and fellowship with other residents have given her a quality of life that not many other 99-year olds enjoy. It gives me great peace of mind knowing she is taken care of so well.

My mom has been a resident since December of 2018. Basically, she arrived just as The Claiborne was opening to the community. Our experience with The Claiborne has been amazing. The facility is clean, inviting and quite impressive. The staff is professional, friendly, attentive, caring and very accountable. I couldn’t ask for more! The building is in wonderful shape and appears like it did 2 years ago when I first visited. It still smells new. Two years in and my mom still has the same nurse, care takers and the administration is still in tact. Consistency is comforting for family members. It is essential for the aging residents. Most impressively my mom has been comfortable, engaged, and most importantly safe/healthy during a global pandemic. I rest easy with knowing mom is at The Claiborne.

The Staff is amazing, the facility is beautiful and my parents are really happy! Even though all the Covid mess, the Claiborne staff have kept my parents and the other residents safe and secure. I owe them a big thank you for all they do each and every day. Such a friendly environment at a very reasonable rate. We are lucky!!!

My family have just placed my father in the Memory Care facility at Clairborne West. We are so impressed with the amount of care and attention he's received in a week, and whenever we call or email with a question, we get a clear response. We feel hopeful that this level care will continue and feel grateful that we have found such a positive and caring environment!

The facility is fairly new (18-24 months), well kept. The staff is superb - attentive, engaged, responsive to both my mother and to the family as we visit, call, or check with the staff about her health concerns. Her time there has shown increased engagement with other residents, staff, and family when we visit. Activities are scheduled regularly and seem to be enjoyed by residents. The period of the pandemic has been difficult to see my mother, because the Claiborne has been very attentive to maintaining a healthy, risk-free environment. There has been less physical visiting, but more virtual visiting, and the staff have helped with that.

My father in law has lived at The Claiborne at West Lake in the Memory Care wing for over a year. We have been so pleased with the care he has received there from the minute he walked in the door. From the beginning, we have all been welcomed so warmly by all the staff members from the front desk receptionist, to the maintenance supervisor, to the nurse in Memory Care, to all the rehab assistants that work on the wing, to the people that work in the kitchen, to the activity coordinator. Each one of them takes special care to show interest in my father in law and in us as well. We have been extremely pleased with the cleanliness of the facility. Every time we have visited, it looks like it has just been cleaned and has a very clean smell throughout the facility. The activity schedule that they have has been outstanding and the way they encourage the residents to be part of the activities that they have has been fantastic as well. Precovid, they made many trips outside the facility which my father in law very much enjoyed. During COVID, they have made every effort to keep the residents involved in the unit and in communication with their families. They always bring any issue that my father in law is having to our attention and we could not be more pleased with the care he has received while he has been there. My father in law was resistant to move in but once he was there for a week or so, he began to think of it as home. It has so many personal touches and a standard of care that is outstanding. We have no complaints about The Claiborne and would highly recommend it for anyone looking for a memory care facility.

My Mom had a stroke in 2017. By 2019 she declined due to dementia and we needed to find her more care. In my research of assisted living and memory care facilities the Claiborne stood out. It was bright, fresh, and secure. The staff was friendly and helpful. They care, not only about her physical and mental health, but about her happiness. She's been a resident since April 2019 and really likes it, especially her caregivers. The residents matter to them, as do the families. I know she is safe and taken care of well. I value and appreciate the staff at Claiborne. Thanks!

The Claiborne is a beautiful place to live! There are outdoor courtyards, an indoor movie theatre and activity rooms, a library area, hair salon, and so much more. But even more than that, the staff who work there are amazing! They are knowledgeable, compassionate, and understanding and they truly care for the people they work with. That is such a comfort to me! My mother has been living there for 1 & 1/2 years and the staff know her and know what she likes to do and what makes her comfortable. They go the extra mile (especially during this pandemic when I haven't been able to visit the way I use to) and I always know what is happening. The Memory Care section of The Claiborne has their own designated activity person who is wonderful at creating and leading activities that meet the specific needs of the residents. Before the pandemic, there were regular excursions to places around our city - art museum, movie theatre, bus rides to get ice cream, restaurants, boat rides on the canal, etc. And there are always fun and creative planned events for all of the residents to participate in. It's a place that I trust and am thankful that my mother has the opportunity to live there.

From the very first day that my 87 year-old father began residing at the Claiborne approximately 18 months ago, the entire Claiborne staff has demonstrated immense care and responsiveness to ensure that Dad feels he is a beloved member of a thriving Senior Living Community. If questions or requests arise, the responses from the admin team are very prompt and helpful. Especially during this Covid time when access to in-person visits with Dad is extremely limited, our family's ongoing confidence in the staff and the services that are provided to Dad affords all of us immeasurable peace of mind. Each and every staff member is committed to allowing my father to maintain his personal dignity and a feeling of independence. We are so thankful for the wonderful Staff at the Claiborne!
