"The Oaks at Evans has an extremely friendly environment. Everywhere we walked, the staff introduced themselves. They knew their names. They introduced me to almost every patient that we saw walking around. They just couldn't have been any more inviting. A lot of the places we walked through, they wouldn't even talk to the associates while they were walking. But this one, they talked to every associate and introduced me to every one of them. Even the patients told me they wanted to recommend the place. They had an open space where they were having little activities going on while I was there with the patients. They have a calendar with all their events coming up for the patients to see. They could all go out front and sit on the front porch."

"I toured Brandon Wilde. It was astronomically priced. However, I liked that you didn't have to bring a bed or a chair. Their chairs are reasonably clean, so they wouldn't hold urine or anything, which is quite nice. The place was very clean. The dining room was nice. There was no smell. The staff was nice. She answered all my questions."

"Camellia Walk of Evans was a very good facility. They answered all our questions. It seemed to meet the needs of what we were looking for. The staff was very knowledgeable. They gave us additional information that we hadn't thought of. It was all very clean and very neat. There were no urine smells. It was decorated friendly, not dark and drab and all that."

"My husband had respite care at Sodalis Martinez for two weeks and then he came back home. The staff was caring; I liked that. I also really liked the fact that it was bright and clean. Everything was up to date, and I appreciated that. My husband didn't enjoy the food, but I'm a gourmet cook, so I think he just missed my cooking. The room was very good; it was an apartment. The only thing is the bed, it was low. My husband is six feet and four inches tall, and he used to jump out of airplanes, so his spine and everything is not that great, so that low bed was not that great. Other than that, I was very confident about leaving him there. I was very confident in Nurse Channing. She was very good. She checked in with me, which I appreciated because I needed the rest. I'm my husband's only caregiver, so I appreciate it for keeping those channels open. I thought the staff were excellent."

"My mother is staying in Benton House of Augusta and I'm very happy with it. The staff is great, they take very good care of her, and the food is good. In our situation, my mother has been the problem with her falling a lot, so the management there offered that as a fix for the problem. They recommended private sitters at certain times during the day when she's more agitated. She's in a private room, which is like a large bedroom, and it's very conveniently located. They had a bar type setup in the middle of the memory care facility, and the living area is in front of the bar, with the dining facility and living area with the TV, and the residents' rooms are circular around that area. So there are no hallways and the residents step out into the living area. It's a really good setup for a memory care unit. They have all kinds of stuff that she's not capable of doing, so they will do things like Rollerball for her and have her kick it. She has a baby doll, so they spend a lot of time with her and her baby doll getting her to do things with her doll. I love the staff, they're very loving. There's not one person that I walked in and thought, "This one's just here making money." They all really seem to enjoy working with the residents. Their dining area is very homey, it's incorporated into their living space, and nothing is institutionalized about it. I haven't eaten the food myself, but it looks really good and my mother eats it."

"Brookdale North Augusta was very attractive. It was a very small group, and it's set back off the road, so it would be quiet. I liked it a lot. The staff was very informative, friendly, and thorough. The facility was perfect. It looked very comfortable, bright, and very clean. It's hands down my favorite, but my mother didn't like the location because it's in South Carolina."

"We've toured Hammond Square. It's been excellent. The staff here is just phenomenal. They're very kind, very, very solicitous, very helpful, and informative. They have gone out of their way to make this transition as painless as I could imagine. The facility here is beautiful. The room that my mother is going in is set up very well. It's just been a great experience. Triple A. Couldn't ask for better. They've got activities every day of the week. Apparently, the favorite for the residents is bingo, but they can hold all sorts of different activities. The activities coordinator has met with us. The medical people have met with us. It's been wonderful. My mom is moving in today."

"There are lots of things that I liked about At Home Senior Living of Thomson. First of all, it was a nice new facility. They had assisted living on one side and then Alzheimer's care on the other side. So, if the person progressed from assisted living to needing more care, they wouldn't have to move to another facility, but simply go on the other side. That was, to me, an advantage. The other thing was they didn't have too many people there. And it was very nicely arranged. They had their own separate rooms. They weren't put like two to a room. Everybody had his own private little room like a tiny little apartment, which was nice. They did have a community room where they could get together and do crafts and things like that. The staff all seemed to be very nice. I was impressed. The only thing was they don't take veterans and they don't take any kind of Medicare/Medicaid insurance. The only kind of insurance they take is if you have personal long-term care insurance. To me, it was like a spa-like area. It was so nice, like a high-end hotel or something that you could live in, and have all your things taken care of. This was a really high-end place where they seem to be dedicated to doing the best they could."

"My father has moved into Silver Bluff Grove Senior Living. It is a very nice facility. They're very professional and very compassionate. They have a lot of different amenities for the seniors. They appear to be very organized. The facility is clean. It is like the perfect facility for him. Although he's independent, they have nurses who administer medications. They will make sure that his laundry is washed. They have a salon and a barbershop there. They have several dining rooms. They go on different field trips. They have a little putty activity area in the back. I can eat with him. I would just let them know ahead of time. It was immaculate. Usually, care homes smell, but I did not smell an odor or anything. They're very nice and very modern. My dad loves to paint, so they have activities where they go downtown in the community and advertise their paintings and things of that nature."

"My mom will move into Oaks at Aiken, and I liked everything about it. It'd be perfect for her. She's 90 years old. They have several people that are about her age. They have some stuff in common with her. We went there three times before we made up our minds. Three apartments came up, so we took one of them. The staff was outstanding and knowledgeable and answered every question I had, as well as my wife's and my daughter's. They have a menu every day. If you don't like what's on the menu, you can get hamburgers, baked potatoes, and stuff like that off the menu. The facility was brand new and immaculate."

"Claiborne at West Lake was impressive and spacious. They have pleasant staff. The upstairs is pretty much the same. It's large. I like it. The dining area looked as if it would be suitable. This dining area looked large, but it is a large place. We looked at the menu, and it was impressive. They seem to comply with a healthy plate. The staff member who toured us around was a very nice, helpful, and encouraging lady. She was very knowledgeable of the facility. It was close to lunchtime and most of the residents were having lunch, but I saw someone in PT at the exercise room, and the others were in the game room."

"Thrive at Augusta is surprisingly larger than I'd thought from the street. There's a lot of space. The staff was over-accommodating, as well as pleasant and encouraging, so was the person who took us around to different parts of the facility. It's a very nice place. I've tasted their apple pie and it's wonderful. In terms of activities, there were some games going on. There seemed to be a lot of interactions between the staff and residents."
