The staff for dementia care receives the same standards of training as every staff, yet the training is specifically geared for how to communicate, care for, and uplift our residents within Memory Care. All staff also has been trained through the Virtual Dementia Tour to allow for every staff member to get a hands-on training of exactly how dementia residents process information and function. This training is invaluable to our staff to have compassion for our residents with dementia and exactly how to love on them to uplift and encourage positive growth for them.

Our population ranges from 60 to 100 years young! We have a positive community culture focused to preserve personal dignity and to nourish the human spirit. We offer physical therapy and occupational therapy through Legacy Healthcare Services inside our facility. Our residents have multiple sources of activities designed to engage their strengths and encourage growth in their weaknesses. We strive to uplift our residents to have the best quality of life. We also have an in-house beauty salon for our residents to spoil themselves on occasion. As well, we work with Augusta Medical Center to provide in-house physician visits if needed for our residents.

Chef Eubanks and his staff has years of experience in the Culinary Arts Industry at a variety of high end restaurants and country clubs. Chef Eubanks focuses on fresh, local ingredients to cook up meals for our residents to provide essential nutrition for our residents. We are also heavily focused on our Southern Culture and provide a menu designed around Southern Cuisine while maintain the resident's needs from various diets. Chef Eubanks signature dish is his Candied Pork Belly served with Smoked Gouda Mac and Cheese and local fresh vegetables. Do not forget to look out for the variety of cheesecakes he loves to cook up.

Augusta Gardens is structured for safety and security first. We have a 24/7 fully secured facility that focuses on keeping residents safe and allow for visitors to spend time with their family when needed. Our Memory Care unit, "The Brook", has its own designed set of security, specialized to provide safety for residents with Dementia or Alzheimer's. We also constantly train our staff on emergency preparedness and how to respond to critical situations, when needed.

We focus on updating families through social media, email newsletters, and calling families as needed. We work to build a partnership with families to provide care for their loved ones. We host multiple care plan meetings within the year to specially design a plan of care for each individual resident.
What is the care staff-to-resident ratio at Augusta Gardens during daytime and nighttime hours?
We follow the State of Georgia's recommendation for care staff-to-resident ratios. We offer more care staff for The Brook, our Memory Care, to make sure that we provide all supervision and care our residents need on a daily basis.
If Augusta Gardens accepts dogs or cats, what indoor/outdoor areas can they enjoy?
We do allow for household pets, if the resident can fully take care of the animal by themselves. We have a wonderful garden for them to spend time outside as well as plenty of surrounding land for long walks.
What ongoing senior care training does the staff receive?
We focus on Staff In-Service training every two weeks and all staff must have an additional 16 hours of training designed to constantly provide the tools they need to provide the best care possible for our residents. We also offer safety training classes to all of our staff for CPR/First Aid, Fire Safety, and Emergency Precautions.
How many staffers are on duty in the daytime and overnight?
We maintain a full staff 24/7 to maintain the standards of care set by the State of Georgia. Each staff member is set to certain area's every day for coverage and the management team is here on duty with the staff as well.

Our facility remains locked at all times. With a monitoring system, secure doors, secure entry points, and trained staff, we can help redirect wondering resident's and keep them safe and secure within our facility.

Our staff is trained to communicate and redirect residents to help them regardless of the situations presented with residents' long-term memories. We are trained in compassion and are able to handle each resident on a personal level with their memories. We strive to adapt and learn about our residents so that we may love on them whenever possible. Our Activities Director and Memory Care Director are trained Occupational Therapist that have a series of therapeutic activities to help encourage positive growth in our residents.
Who assesses residents' health and cognitive functioning? How often is that assessment repeated?
Every resident must have a health and cognitive assessment upon admission. We then design a personal care plan for each resident based off their needs. This assessment is repeated quarterly and we adjust their care plans as needed.

We utilize visual stimulation and social cues to encourage our residents to eat during mealtimes. Some residents require that we are hands on to assist with mealtimes, in which we do. Each meal for memory care is designed to be enticing and engaging for residents to eat, such as finger foods, or some of their childhood favorites that they request.
How does Augusta Gardens keep residents' families informed about their loved ones' health?
We stay in contact with our residents' families with all levels of the care plan for each resident. We work in partnership to constantly keep in communication with each residents physician and pharmacies to maintain physician orders for each resident. We then work in communication with families periodically, to update them on changes, concerns, and just general progression reports.

Augusta Gardens is located in a business district with mostly local restaurants, shopping centers, and medical facilities. We are located close to the interstate and easily accessible from just about any location in Augusta.

Augusta Gardens utilizes our location to Doctor's Hospital for additional care for our residents, in case of emergency. We also partner with Augusta Medical Center for an in-house physician, Legacy Healthcare Services for outpatient therapy, and local Home Health or Hospice companies as those services are needed.
