Assisted Living Communities in Lexington, SC

"My mother-in-law is here. It's a new building so it's very up-to-date and very nice. Her room is also the same. The staff is very caring and attentive to her needs. She doesn't usually join in the activities. There's a beauty salon, they have a nail place, and then there's a pool. I'm visiting her in her room. Their chef prepares the meals and they're very good meals."

"The Blake at Woodcreek Farms was a very nice facility but the rooms are in a hallway like a hotel. I also thought that the common area was a little sterile for the memory care patients. They also had a nursery for baby dolls, which I know can be comforting for some but I found it just a little creepy. While we're down there, I like the lady named Gail. She's a wonderful person and I cannot say enough good things about her. The facility is older though. It was built in the 80s, it had window units inside the rooms, underneath the windows, like a hotel, which I didn't like. The rooms were rather small for the price that you're paying. Even though I know that they have a lower ratio of patients to staff and I like the homeyness of it, it was dated and that was a kind of a turn-off for the money that you were spending there. I thought the staff and Gail were just outstanding. The room that I would have picked for my mother was very nice. It had a lot of separation between it and it had a sitting room. They also had smaller rooms but I thought the room itself was the nicest. If I had to pick something, I would have picked them if I was forced to pick something, even though I didn't like the nursery part. It's one of the most expensive places and also a gated community. It had enough security and homeyness there and the staff and patient ratio are just outstanding. They're in the process of updating some of their parts too but it was hard for me to justify a $2,000 difference between where my mother was and putting her in a much older facility, even though I like the staff better. That's a hard decision for me."

"Oakleaf Village of Lexington was excellent, and the staff was very pretty. It had two stories and a basement. They had a lot of activities. They take them to places, they have church services on Sunday, and they have a TV room. It's just a really good place. "

"My mom has been at Wellmore of Lexington for over a month now. It has been a very good experience. It's just really nice and clean, and the people are very friendly. The staff has been wonderful. I haven't met anyone that wasn't great. The food is delicious. They have a chef there and they have a fancy dining room. They even have a pub in their restaurant where the residents can have a glass of wine. The layout of the facility is nice, but it's kind of a long walk down the halls. The rooms are very nice, much like your own home bedroom would be. The whole facility is very well maintained inside and outside. They have a lot of activities. They have an activity room and exercise rooms."

"New Light Community Care is a small facility. The people are very nice and very caring. They want to make sure that my dad has a good, comfortable place to stay. He seems to be happy, and he enjoys the food. They have a very good cook. They help my dad with medicine and stuff like that. They have outdoor space. The rooms are pretty large. They have a TV and a couch in their room. They have a common area. They have their own bathroom. It is recommended by the VA."

"I like it, but at that point I wasn’t sure that’s what I wanted to do. The rooms, and the people were very nice. They have exercises, some of the people were playing Wii games, and a couple were working on puzzles."

"My mother is at Presbyterian Home, and her care is very good. The staff is friendly and caring. They have a gym and a church right on the campus. They have all kinds of activities for them all the time, and they have a bus that takes them somewhere. Their rooms are beautiful and so is the dining room where they do most of their socializing. They even have a walking path down to the river. It’s just a beautiful campus. It’s really good for somebody that wants to leave their home and go there. It’s not the same as home, but it’s beautiful, the residents love it, and the people are very friendly. They have lots of other friends to mingle with. "

"The layout of this assisted living facility was beautiful. The staff took excellent care of my grandmother while she was there and did their best to look after the needs of the residents. My grandmother was a resident there for about 2 years. During this time, she was able to meet many new friends. The facilities were clean and well kept. The only complaint I ever heard her make was that the food was not particularly good, but my grandmother was an amazing cook with very high standards. Their individual apartments were very nice. Her living quarters were rather spacious, with plenty of room for much of her furniture. My grandmother often complimented the staff. Trips off the campus were organized for residents who needed to run errands. They also had a more intensive care facility for residents who were injured or who required more supervision. My experience with this facility was less positive, but most of this had to do with my grandmother's progressing illness than the care she received. "

"My mother moved in. She was warmly received there, and we really like the room. The staff seems to be doing an excellent job. Everybody is very friendly and very caring. She has only been there a couple of weeks, but we are feeling very good about it. "

"Jenni Lynn has been such a blessing. The care and love they show my mother and I has been amazing. The staff are so patient and understanding they are angels."

"Fairforest Grove Senior Living was a very nice and friendly place. The atmosphere was just something that I would like for my mom to be. I felt like I won't have to worry about her and the care she would receive, because of the friendly staff and its environment. I met all the staff. The person who did the tour introduced me to everyone. I even met some of the relatives that had been there visiting and everybody's been so friendly. They have a lot of activities for them to do every day. They take them outside to different places like the zoo or go shopping, and stuff like that. So, they're not just keeping them inside all the time. They always have something for them to do. They also have a nice courtyard that's close to a lake where she can sit down and watch the water and the ducks and stuff. I just loved their environment."

"My ex-husband is at Harbison Hall for only a day, so I don't really have a basis to judge. But it's very nice. It is definitely affordable, too. The staff is nice and they provide him with normal care, like assistance with bathing. They have activities for their residents. They have music, games and different people come in. The apartments were not great, they were just okay. "

"About 10 years ago I had to put my father into an assisted living center. He quickly went from assisted living to a nursing home and passed away quickly. So, when a friend asked me to stop in and see her elderly mother when she moved into an assisted living facility, I was reluctant, but went anyway. Much to my suprise I saw men and women who were pretty active. When I arrived they were all doing the hokey pokey! This wasn't anything like what went on where my father was years ago. Before I knew what happened, I was doing the hokey pokey too. After asking many questions I found out that they employ somebody to have fun activities for the residents. They go to the grocery store, and the mall, and to doctor appointments. It's all very well orchastrated. I was VERY impressed. "

"My father is currently at Rapha and I am so impressed with the staff. They are warm caring and understanding. They take the time to update me when I ask questions. It is obvious that my Dad is loved and cared for at Rapha. I am comfortable that while it is not the newest or the fanciest place it is definitely provides the very best care. "
