"I visited Brookdale Harbison. It was a really nice facility, but it did not accommodate some of the things that I needed for my mother. The staff was very nice. The room was also very nice with a nice view out of the window. The amenities were nice. "

"My dad has moved into Harbison Shores. It is like a home away from home. He is well adapted. He is in the memory care unit. The staff is wonderful, professional, and caring. They have daily arts and crafts, there is a lady who comes in and plays the piano, and they have sing-alongs and interactive activities. They have separate rooms for showering and bathing, and the patients' rooms just have toilets and sinks. With my dad's current condition, we were afraid that if he just got in the shower by himself, he might fall or injure himself, so I went with them because they have separate shower areas that they call "spas," and also because they have nursing assistance. Those were the only reasons for going that way."

"Spring Oak Lexington seemed like a good place, but that wasn't going to suit our needs at the time. Everything looked pretty clean and up-to-date, and it looked like they had a good facility there for the memory care unit. Everything looked fine. I didn't get into the staff other than the person who was showing us around. She was professional. We were able to see the rooms, and they were spacious. One thing that did catch me off guard was that you're expected to provide your own furniture, but it didn't turn out to be an issue. I liked the location, and I liked the cleanliness of the facility."

"It was very nice. The rooms were a good size. They have several different activities, like Bingo, puzzles, chess, and socialization. The staff was very helpful. The food was very nice, it was good."

"It was a fairly big area, and everything was good there. The eating area was nice, and they had a lot of security. The staff during the tour was very good, very knowledgeable, and showed us all around the place. They had weight rooms, exercise rooms, and tours."

"Wildewood Downs was a very nice facility, and they had a lot of amenities. I thought it was well worth looking at. The rooms were excellent. However, it was too spread out for my mother, but it was very nice. "

"I had a couple of elderly friends that were in Life Care Center Columbia. We went out there once a week for five years with my friend and seemed to be well taken care of. They did have activities and a social worker that did that, but neither of my friends participated in it. They had two people in one room. We went out there for the Thanksgiving dinner that they had, and the food was good. The place is clean. We got to know some of the people there, like the aides, the nurses, and they seemed to be doing a very good job. "

"My mother so far seems to be okay with NHC HealthCare Parklane. She had no real complaints other than the quarantine, but in a few days, she'll be moving in with the general population and will start with actual rehab in the physical therapy rooms. The staff was good. They had a conference call last week with all of the caregivers, the doctors, physical therapist, occupational therapist, nurse, and the social worker. They were pretty engaging as far as any questions we've come with."

"I did a tour of The Palmettos of Parklane. The guy that took me around was very nice and very pleasant. The closets in that place are beautiful, you can move into the closet. Their closets were better than most of the rooms I have seen. But the rooms were okay. They were kind of, funky as far as the angles. It was a weird floor plan because if you look at the floor plan, it looked kind of good. But then when you saw it, it's like messed up. The staff was very nice and knowledgeable; he called back and asked me how I liked it. It is in a better area than the other facility, but still not in the greatest area in the world. It just wasn't my cup of tea. The tour itself was fine, they don't have anything to do with the rooms, they're just showing me what's already there. The layout is like all the rest of the places. You walk in, you have a little area and a dining room. The rooms are so bad, I would give the rooms a one, but I would rate the closet a ten."

"We had a short visit at Rice Estate. The place is very nice and clean. The staff seemed to be really nice. They did have a lot of activities, and the place is a little pricey. The residents that we saw seemed to be happy and well cared for. "

"My wife has been there now for 4 months. Family atmosphere exists. I visit on a very regular basis and have no complaints whatsoever. "

"I went to Merrill Gardens at Columbia. It was lovely; it was brand new. It's a super facility. The employees were excellent. It would be a second choice to the other one except that it's on the second floor. I thought it would be better to be on the first floor and be able to go straight out onto the yard, and have a safe place for them to go to without having to get on an elevator. At that time, you couldn't go into the actual section where the residents were. They showed me the rest of the rooms that were not necessarily memory care but part of that same facility. It's quite large. It's a beautiful place. They showed me some of the menus. One thing they do that others didn't, they have no meal time. You are able to eat whenever it suits you. Like if you don't get up until 10, you can still go down and get what you want. It was more like a restaurant where you order when you want it. That would be convenient for those who have different schedules that they like to carry on. The staff did a fine job. It felt like they were open. They showed me other places that were just for residents who want to live there that are not incapacitated or anything, and they were lovely. It was more like a commercial building because it's new and modern instead of homey. It didn't have a little bit of a homey feel to it when you walk into the entrance and then go up to the memory care. It was all glass and all open areas, and so you could have a feeling of being outside and not closed up."
