"It was an excellent facility. There was nothing I didn't like about it. It was absolutely beautiful and top-notch. Everything was nice there. It was like a resort. The apartments were nice. The food and all the amenities were top-notch. They have five different things that you can order on a menu. You don't have to eat what they normally serve. You can drive your vehicle if you want to. They take you to the mall and to your appointments and stuff like that. They have a game night and they do all kinds of activities with the residents there. Their dining area was like a very upscale restaurant. They were very friendly."

"The Blake at Woodcreek Farms was a very nice facility but the rooms are in a hallway like a hotel. I also thought that the common area was a little sterile for the memory care patients. They also had a nursery for baby dolls, which I know can be comforting for some but I found it just a little creepy. While we're down there, I like the lady named Gail. She's a wonderful person and I cannot say enough good things about her. The facility is older though. It was built in the 80s, it had window units inside the rooms, underneath the windows, like a hotel, which I didn't like. The rooms were rather small for the price that you're paying. Even though I know that they have a lower ratio of patients to staff and I like the homeyness of it, it was dated and that was a kind of a turn-off for the money that you were spending there. I thought the staff and Gail were just outstanding. The room that I would have picked for my mother was very nice. It had a lot of separation between it and it had a sitting room. They also had smaller rooms but I thought the room itself was the nicest. If I had to pick something, I would have picked them if I was forced to pick something, even though I didn't like the nursery part. It's one of the most expensive places and also a gated community. It had enough security and homeyness there and the staff and patient ratio are just outstanding. They're in the process of updating some of their parts too but it was hard for me to justify a $2,000 difference between where my mother was and putting her in a much older facility, even though I like the staff better. That's a hard decision for me."

"I went to Jenni-Lynn Senior Living. They go from level one through four, but they don't do the most serious senior needs. They only offer very low assistance up to pretty high levels of assistance. It was very positive. The people were very nice and kind. The people that lived there seemed very happy. They had a cafeteria, an activity room, a physical therapy room, a veranda, and a place where people could go out. They had porches and things like that, and everything was clean. It was very neat and well-maintained, and it had a lot of foliage and gardens around. They had a variety of rooms at different prices. And they all were nice sized for what my brother would need. The rooms were nice with amenities for the handicapped and things like that. It seemed like a nice and friendly place."

"I visited this facility with my Mother's church to sing Christmas Carols and have a little Christmas party a few weeks before Christmas.We brought quite a lot of cookies and soft drinks, which were cumbersome. The staff was very helpful, showing us where to park and the easiest way to get things into the social hall. I recognized a few people that I knew which was a nice surprise. But what impressed me the most was that all the residents seemed happy, were clean and well dressed and really seemed to get involved. It really made me feel good to be there.When I was in nursing school I worked as a nursing assistant in several homes for the elderly. There always seemed to be a pervasive odor of urine. This place smelled clean. Not perfumed. Just clean.I know of one man who moved in there after his wife died. His children lived out of state and my Mother was the local contact for him. He had Alzheimer's, but she took him to Church and out for lunch regularly. When he died The facility allowed his kids to stay in his room a night or two while they disposed of his possessions. That was a kindness not often seen "

"My dad is at Lexington Place right now. His personal transition has been tough, but in terms of the facility itself, they're fine, and attractively clean. They take COVID-19 extremely seriously, and the protocols for entering and exiting are very high. The staff seems extremely caring too, not only with the residents, but with the family members as well. They're extremely patient and tolerant of all our questions and concerns, especially when we had to enter his belongings. They pay attention to the tiniest of concerns. They also have courtyards so people can go outside. I also saw people playing bingo and putting puzzles together. We spoke with the activities director, and she was very nice, and very enthusiastic about her job. It was a very positive experience. I guess the only concern I had was its proximity to the highway, but my father is almost 100 years old, and I don't think he cares about it. So far it's an excellent place, and an excellent choice for us."

"Moved my dad to the memory care unit aT Presbyterian Home in Columbia a year ago. We could. Not be more satisfied with the care and services. My dad is so happy and content. His room is lovey and the environment is very homey. The staff are compassion, caring and professional. Residents don't sit around as there is always something f scheduled for them to do. It's a clean facility and the bery best in my opinion. "

"My parents have moved into Merrill Gardens at Columbia. It's newer, nice, clean, and had more to offer. They have washers and dryers in their units. Mom has a full kitchen, and her unit was nice and clean. The staff was very friendly, and very nice. All the residents that we spoke to were extremely friendly. If they decide the food is good, then that's a good thing because they are hard to please that way. They have senior activities, physical therapy, a beauty salon, and a media center. They have lots of different activities rooms, and three meals a day. The assisted living residents get a hot breakfast. They do offer some transportation, and they have cable internet. In terms of value for the money, it was very reasonable compared to the ones that we looked at."

"My ex-husband is at Harbison Hall for only a day, so I don't really have a basis to judge. But it's very nice. It is definitely affordable, too. The staff is nice and they provide him with normal care, like assistance with bathing. They have activities for their residents. They have music, games and different people come in. The apartments were not great, they were just okay. "

"It was very friendly and clean. It was not what I was expecting as far as the rooms because the room was altogether and was just one big room with a bathroom. It’s close to where we live, and it’s on a lake so as far as the location, it’s great. The lake has a path that walks all the way around it. The dining room looked very nice. Each week they change the menu. They have a standard if they want the same thing, but it looked like they had some good food choices. They were doing a game in the front lobby area with a group of residents. "

"I stayed in Wellmore of Lexington for rehab. The community was beautiful. It's a five-star community. The people were very nice, very gracious. I didn't have any problems with anybody. And anything you needed or wanted, they got for you. My room was probably 10 by 10 with a hallway to the bathroom, which is very fine. It was clean, it had great people, and I was very pleased there. The food was OK. You had the regular menu. Then, they had a menu you could order from if you needed something. I got double protein, and I also got a chef salad, and they were very good. It was fine, but I was missing something. I was working on a quilt while there, and it disappeared."

"Oakhaven is the Alzheimer unit at Oakleaf Village. My sister and I began visiting there when our other 55 year old sister was diagnosed with Alzheimer Disease. We continued to visit for reassurance that when we needed space that it would be available. A trip to the hospital and directive from the doctor that it was time, and they made ready for her. She began in the Assisted living area and was there almost 2 years before she could no longer remain there even with the highest level of assistance. The move to Oakhaven was done quite smoothly about 8 months ago. Her decline is coming more and more rapidly. Though she is quite physically able to walk, run, etc. her mind is shutting down more each day. The staff at this facility is unbelievable. They are knowledgeable, willing and most importantly, caring. Never have we seen a better staff. Never a raised voice; never an attitude of exasperation; always a joy at bringing care to those who so desperately need it. Of the 27 residents in Oakhaven, no two are alike. Our sister has been a true challenge to them due to her mobility and cognitive level. This is not a performance that they put on just when we are there. I live only 3 blocks from the facility and drop in at weird times. The facility is beautiful, someone from the administrative staff is always available, the care staff is well trained and pleasant. We are most happy that we found Oakleaf Village and Oakhaven Alzheimer's Unit to care for our "little sister." "

"New Light Community Care is a small facility. The people are very nice and very caring. They want to make sure that my dad has a good, comfortable place to stay. He seems to be happy, and he enjoys the food. They have a very good cook. They help my dad with medicine and stuff like that. They have outdoor space. The rooms are pretty large. They have a TV and a couch in their room. They have a common area. They have their own bathroom. It is recommended by the VA."
