"My cousin will be moving into The Meridian at Carolina Lakes. It is very new, very upscale, and very bright. It looks more like a hotel instead of an assisted living facility. It's got a pool 24/7. It is very, very nice, and it's way cheaper. It's close to me, that's why I picked it. The staff was very helpful and very friendly, yet professional. They were very caring. They took their time. They invited us to have lunch to check out the food. The chef came out and introduced herself to us, and we hadn't even signed in yet. The service was exceptional, and it was a very pleasant experience. The food was excellent. The rooms are beautiful, white, bright, and have a little bit of a kitchenette with a microwave. They even have a washing machine in the room and a little refrigerator. They were very nice and very spacious. They have a bathroom and a closet."

"My friend has been at Sunflower Springs at Indian Land. I think it's an amazing community. It has been a godsend. It's in assisted living, but it's more like a family. The people that are living there have issues and things of that nature, and they help them with whatever they need done. It's more of a nursing home, yet it's not. They have their own lives, and they can do whatever they want to do and go wherever they want to go. It's just an amazing place. They go over and above what they have to do. Everyone just works together, and it's just a beautiful community. I've never been around in assisted living before, but this is the top. Even when you walk in the place it's a sunny and happy place. My friend is one who is very particular about her food, and everywhere she goes she says, "I hate the food," but she really likes the food there. It's a brand-new building. They have different activities that go on throughout the week. On Saturdays and Sundays families can come and visit the residents. They also have people that come in and sing. When they need to go to the doctor's office they take them to the doctor or whatever appointments that they have. It really takes the burden off of me because she's in a wheelchair."

"My dad moved to The Blake at Edgewater. It was the one where I felt like it had more of a homey feel. It's very well-kept. They have been very nice and accommodating. It's very close to where I live, so it's a short drive for me to check on him, and it's been a good experience. I don't have any complaints about anything. They're very personable. I have personal cell phone numbers, and I can call and speak to them if I need to. He complains about the food every day, though. He is in a large one-bedroom apartment, and everything is up-to-date as far as the aesthetics of it. The bathroom is nice, large, and handicapped-accessible. He has a large closet. It's not a walk-in closet, but he can fit his wheelchair in it. Then he's got a kitchenette area. So, it's nice. They have great activities. My dad just chooses not to participate, but they take them out on trips, like go shopping or to other places like parks and things like that when the weather is nice. They do a lot of arts and crafts. They have people come in to do music performances. I've seen some kids and other people there singing and playing instruments. So, they seemed to have a good variety of activities. Their medications are just expensive."

"The first thing that we liked about Rock Hill Grove Senior Living was the area where it was located. As soon as you turn off the road and you go down a driveway, there's that beautiful complex there. I liked the happiness of the residents and the cleanliness of the entire complex. The apartments were very nice and the bathrooms were very thought out with the grab bars and seats in the showers and walk-in showers. Laura was great. She took care of us, showed us around, and explained everything to us. The greatest amenity was the food, the room size, and the closets. The friendliness of the place was awesome, from the residents to the people working there. They do exercises, they have a room where they do activities (from cooking to arts and crafts), and they also do other activities that we liked. This month, they're supposed to have a ball where they dress the residents up in ball gowns and they'll have a little dance to make them feel a part of. It's wonderful. It was just a great experience."

"I toured Brookdale Ebenezer Road. It was just the whole atmosphere. We liked them and we liked the security of the place as well. And all the people from the residents to the staff, everybody was cool. They really enjoy being there. We looked at a one bedroom that's got a little living room area. The studio was nice too. We just figured the one-bedroom would be better for Dad, just because when we go to visit him we could just sit in his living room area, or go outside. The layout, we love the way it's like a circle, so it's not like you're locked into one specific area or anything. It's more open and inviting. Damon gave us a tour, he was great, informative, and gave us any information. And even the staff that we met, a couple of the therapists, and they would talk about different cognitive therapy, physical therapy, and speech therapy. They do a lot of different therapies there and that was a great thing too, because it was about doing different cognitive things that might help Pops with the memory stuff."

"My mother has been resident of The Blake at Baxter Village since March 2023. After recovery from a surgery, the family realized that due to cognitive decline, that she could no longer care for herself in her condo in New York. After doing some research into home health assistance or facilities in NY we decided to move her closer to family in South Carolina. After one tour of The Blake, I was confident that the location, apartment layout and services would be a good fit. The staff who work directly with residents from the dining room servers, Med Techs and Personal Assistants are all amazing! There is a wide range of social activities available, from group exercise classes, coveted BINGO and my mother’s favorite “social hour on Wednesdays”. They go on shopping trips, partake in local Baxter events and go visit many of the fun places in York County like orchards and parks."

"The Post At Providence has been a Godsend for our parent and our family. Yes, the home is beautiful, comfortable and clean. But it's the caring staff, the friendly residents and their family members who make this a Five Star facility. Since our parent has been there, the journey has been less stressful and more meaningful because of this group of wonderful people. Thanks to all of you. "

"My mom moved into Brookdale South Charlotte. At first, she was very upset that she was there because she doesn't like being away from home, but she seems to be adjusting well. We've been very impressed with the staff there. They have all been very willing to answer our questions and take our calls because we've called a lot to check on my mom. We got to see her sitting there talking to people and laughing, so it was a good experience. My mom's room is fantastic. She got one of those rooms that are much larger than the regular room. The facility looks fantastic. You can tell it's been recently renovated and updated. They said my mom is eating, so the food must not be too bad, or she wouldn't eat. The dining area is very open with small tables for small groups. It had a homey feel. They have six activities every day, and they transition those around."

"Brookdale Weddington Park was an absolutely lovely place. The young lady there that I talked to was just phenomenal. I didn't get to talk to anyone in-depth, but I saw them interacting with the residents. I liked the interaction between the residents and the staff. The only thing about that particular place was there were so many women. I was trying to look for a place with a kind of healthy balance of men and women because I needed my dad to be somewhere where he can kind of relate. The facility was very beautiful and they had very good-sized rooms. When I was leaving, they had a man come. He had his guitar and all the residents came out, the ones that wanted to come out and listen to him play music. The lady who was giving me the tour said that he comes every week, and I like that about it. They had a lot of activities listed; that's one of the things that stood out."

"The Pines on Carmel was very clean and very handicap accessible. I went to see an area where people could go out and just sit. I would have had to take my wheelchair for something like that instead of walking, but that was perfect. The woman who assisted me was very professional and very caring. She wanted to help me, but it was out of her jurisdiction to help me with my finances. She said she would have to have somebody else call me about that part, but I never got a follow-up call about that. So, I'm assuming that for what I needed, they just couldn't help me. I wasn't stressing over it, though. I was OK with everything. The visit was perfect."

"The one I liked the most was the Brookdale Carriage Club Providence. Eva, the girl that showed us around, was so nice and wanted to try to fit the place to us, as to what we're looking for. It's a large place, and it covers all types of care. You can go in as an independent, and then if you need help, you can switch over and get assisted living right in the same place. Then, if you need memory care, they also have that available. That appealed to me because as you get older, you change, and I wouldn't want to move again. It had everything you could want. They have at least three meals a day, and on Sunday, they give you brunch. I didn't taste their food. I was invited back to taste it, but I never got back because of my fall. They were generous-sized and well-appointed rooms. They had a full kitchen with a stove, a microwave, a refrigerator, a dishwasher, and a washer and dryer. It had everything. It was spotless and very well done."

"It was more homey for my mother-in-law. The people were more welcoming. The residents that were there were very friendly. It's an older building. It's a little less expensive because you're not paying for all the modern looks. They have activities and meals. There are three floors, and each floor has four caregivers, so if one of the patients needs something, they're right there. They have all the appliances. The staff member was fantastic. There wasn't a question that we asked her that she didn't answer. She was very upfront and helpful. Their activity room was kind of in disarray. They're doing some kind of Disney feature, so it was a wreck. If it didn't have the sign out front, you would think it was an apartment building."

"I really like the people at Spring Oak York, and it seems more like a retirement home than it does a nursing home type facility. I really like the way it's laid out and so forth. It was extremely nice as far as appearances go, and the rooms were large enough to accommodate a small apartment-type kitchenette, a bathroom, and so forth. I just like the fact that it was really more of a hotel-type environment. It was just very pleasant for me. The staff member who took me on a tour was extremely pleasant. She called back several times to see how my progress is going towards surgery, and she seems to be very caring and concerned. One of the things I like is that they have a rehab facility that you could use with the staff. They have a doctor who would visit twice a week to check up on you. The facility was extremely pleasant. There was a very nice dining room. It was extremely clean. I met a couple of the owners briefly to say hello. It was just a very pleasant experience."
