"We are going to choose Brookdale Charlotte East because he liked the facility, the area, and the list they provided. The staff who gave the tour was very informative and very pleasant. I like that the facility would provide everything that we require. They have transportation, meals, housekeeping, and lots of activities."

"Sun City Carolina Lakes is a wonderful retirement community/ assisted living facility. My grandparents currently live here and have had nothing but positive experiences. They love that they can drive around on all the wooded paths in their golf cart. They also enjoy all the group activities and movie nights. It is in a great location and close to everything. MY grandfather suffers from Alzheimer's so it is important that they have constant care, yet my grandmother still feels as if she's in a house. The floorplan is spacious and the patio has a great view of the lake. They like that they are able to keep pets. Their neighbors and friendly and the staff is great. It is gated with a guard on duty so they feel safe. The streets are a little hard to navigate if you don't know your way around, but overall they are extremely happy. I would recommend sun city to anyone based upon their positive experience. "

"There was nothing I didn't like about Ambriant at Avondale. Everything was great. It had a very nice movie theater, and the facility was just recently built. The staff who assisted me with the tour was very informative, very helpful, and accommodating."

"Brightmore is a little isolated. You can't walk anywhere from there. I met one staff member, and she showed me around. The rooms were very nice with enough space, but none of the rooms I saw were furnished. "

"At Balmore at Ballantyne, you pay for your own electricity, but the water and trash are included with your rent. They have amenities like a community room and they have a fitness area. Other than that, you're pretty much on your own and in your apartment. I like that it's in my price range. The building is secure. I will get a card or something to scan. They have laundry facilities in the building. It's also close to a grocery store. So, I look forward to living there. The conversation I had with the staff was great. They sent me the application online. We filled it out that night and went the next day. I took that, plus everything else that I needed with me. I got on the list and once I'm approved, I got a unit. The unit I am getting is nice. It's not huge, but it's big enough for one person. It's brand new."

"The Bungalows at Indian Land was not in a high rise. It's one floor and it has a garage. It's a rental and not a buy in. So, it's just what we would need. The apartments were very nice. It's two bedrooms and two baths. They're large and they have plantation shutters. They have a restaurant that you can go to if you want, but you have to pay for that. The place was very clean. I liked it a lot. It's neat, tidy, and we could take our dogs."

"The one that I visited was called Waltonwood at Providence. It was a brand new and a lovely facility. Everything was very nice. However, I do not think they had any availability right now. I thought they filed up early. It was convenient to my house, and I had gone to see them with the idea perhaps of placing my father there. I saw the rooms, the amenities, the dining hall area, and the courtyard, and they were very nice. The director was very engaging and helpful. The place was very nice and clean. If I was going to place my dad there, and if I could afford it, I would probably do it. "

"My experience is good, and I like living here at Traditions at Fort Mill. I have an apartment and a patio that goes right outside, so I can take my dog out easily. This is a good place to live. The staff is nice and helpful, and they plan things for us. If something happens, the maintenance people are right there, and they have excellent cleaning ladies. I'm in a very nice 2-bedroom, two-bath home which I like a lot. It has lots of storage and two big closets. There's a saltwater swimming pool here that opens at the end of May and closes at the end of September. It's very nice and is open all day. Once a month they prepare a little party for us, too. There aren't that many planned activities because they don't have an activity director, but we played cards every day and just had a Super Bowl party. We also had a Christmas party and a New Year's Eve party. For Valentine's Day, we are having a continental breakfast party. I don't know what they'll have in March, but they always have something that involves food once a month. It's wonderful, but it's just once a month."

"We visited Highpoint at Fort Mill. It was an open house so they had lots of food, which was good. It's a beautiful facility, very pretty. The apartments are very nice, but there's no outdoor space. We asked about walking on trails, and they said there's only a walking club and they walk on the sidewalks around the place. To be fair, it's only a year old. They're building across the street, probably stores and stuff like that, so the people who live there will be able to get out and shop on foot, and maybe they will have some outdoor spaces in the future. There was a tiny little two-chair thing out the front but it overlooks the parking lot. It just wasn't anything you wanted to do. I wouldn't be adverse to going back there and seeing it again, because the facilities and the apartments have this open feeling. The apartments were beautiful, very light and bright and I liked that. We saw independent living but they have graduated care if you need it. If you don't, you can spend the rest of your days in independent living. They also have cottages there which I think are not as pretty as the apartments, but I think there's hope for that in the future. I wouldn't go there now, but I would go back because it was pretty and bright. There was an outdoor patio where they had happy hours every night. They did not have a lot of activities yet. They have two movies a day, and the movie theater is beautiful. They had some exercise classes every morning, but I was looking for craft groups, book clubs, and discussion groups. I was looking for a community. That's very important as you get older. They had so much food. We only tasted a little bit but whatever we had was delicious. It looked wonderful and the people there looked happy. You pay one month's rent which is very reasonable. It's like an apartment that you pay month to month, which means if they don't fulfill their end of the bargain, you can just leave."

"I chose to live at Highland Park Mill Senior Center because it was close to the doctor's offices and to everything else since it was in town. The facility is a good size and the rooms were decent in size as well. They got different activities like bingo on Thursday nights. There was no dining area since it was an independent living facility. The staff were very helpful and nice to us. It would be better if they lowered the rent. But I would still recommend others to stay here. "

"We moved into Windsor Run Senior Living Community. We like it, they serve two meals, and they have all the buildings interconnected so you don't have to walk outside in bad weather if you like going out. They have one big gameroom, and some other game rooms, two dining areas, they have an indoor pool, and they have a doctor on the premises. It's just a very nice place, they treat you nicely, and the people here are very lucky. There are two reasons we chose this. One, my wife's brother is about six minutes away in drive time, and the other one is that everything is close. We are minutes away from shopping, hospitals, doctors, dentists, haircuts, and that's very important for older people, because if you need anything you don't need to drive long distances, and if you need some kind of help, you don't want to have to go on long trips in an ambulance, you want everything convenient and close, and that's what makes this area special. They also provide travel vehicles several days a week to people."

"Ambriant at Austin Village has the most pros and the least cons among all the places we visited. We will be staying in a one-story duplex, and it's very nice. It's a two-bedroom with one car garage and screened-in porch. They don't have a pool, but they have a game room, a workout room, a little movie theater, and crafts activities There's a lot of things to do. The employees were all very nice and very helpful."
