"I visited this facility with a friend who was seeking care for her elderly father. It's a really pretty facility, located in a gorgeous and convenient part of Charlotte. The atmosphere upon entering the facility was great. It was neat and clean, without odors. The reception staff and admissions staff we spoke with were extremely friendly and several members of nursing smiled and said hello as we walked through. The atmosphere of this facility was further enhanced by some lovely piano music and I also saw several residents participating in a group activity. The grounds were also lovely and well manicured, with plenty of outdoor space for residents to enjoy. My friend and I toured the memory unit and really liked that, though it was a locked and secure unit, it didn't feel like a locked and secure unit. The hallways were in an atrium like setting, allowing for plenty of natural sunlight and giving almost an outdoor feel to the area. I did see a couple of residents wandering the halls but they looked happy and not lost. I also saw one staff assist a resident in a very respectable way when she appeared to be looking for her room. It was nice to see the staff offer assistance but still respect the resident at that individual's greatest level of independence. That is something I think is lacking in some other memory units. Ultimately, I would have to say that I would highly recommend this facility. It has a great atmosphere, friendly staff, and good amenities to allow for a more home like feel. "

"We have chosen Spring Arbor of Steele Creek, and it was for assisted living. It's for both my parents, so they needed to have a suite-apartment style option, and they have that available there. The staff was very friendly. The facility itself was bright and sunny. The rooms were bright and funny, too. They had several activities and opportunities for my parents to socialize and meet other neighbors that are there in the community. It was in a lovely, suburban type setting. It was also very close to major medical facilities. My parents could easily get to doctors' appointments, and dental appointments, and things like that, which would accept their medical supplementary insurance. So that was also really an advantage. They had a hair salon, a media room, and a library. Each floor was set up where there were places for people to sit down and have conversations. They have sofas, club chairs, tables, and stuff so that you could mingle throughout your day. Their kitchen area was like a multi-purpose area for larger group events. I like the fact that every day they had something planned that my parents would enjoy, whether it was Bible study, arts and crafts, or movies and things like that, so there was a variety of options throughout the week. They also had the opportunity to go out to eat or go on planned excursions for the community. So that also factored into my decision."

"This facility was very nice compared to others that I have visited. It was a very nice building and seemed lively (as opposed to the extremely bland facilities that I had seen in the past), the grounds were very nice as well so that was a definite plus for anyone who wanted to go get some fresh air. The staff was very nice and helped me find my grandmothers room along with giving me a little tour of the facilities. Overall, it seemed like a very good place for my grandmother to be - she seems to be enjoying herself with the freedom she has and only complained that she didn't have as many choices on things to eat! "

"Watercrest Fort Mill - Indian Land was a beautiful building. They still have a ways to go to fill it up, and there wasn't quite as much in the way of facilities as the other place. The residents, especially, were not quite as friendly. They seemed more standoffish. I don't know if that's because they may have had more money (because the place is more expensive), but it was very nice. The one-bedroom wasn't big enough, although that's what we were prepared for financially. The two-bedroom was big enough, but it's more expensive than what we want to spend. The menu looked good. They had a bar, which wasn't open when we were there. They didn't have a lot of meeting-type activities like clubs and things like that. It didn't seem like there was as much to do during the day. It was very beautiful, but it didn't seem to meet our needs. They also have memory care."

"It is very nice. We wanted to continue seeing it, so it has a very nice lobby. The staff was very nice, very helpful, and gave all the information that we possibly need. That was the big thing because the apartment is small. The size would be good for a single person, but for us it would be kind of small. We did look around, and they have rooms for all kinds of activities for crafts and reading. It is good because they seem to have a lot of rooms. We went to the dining room, and it has a nice dining area. It is very bright and pleasant. "

"The Post At Providence has been a Godsend for our parent and our family. Yes, the home is beautiful, comfortable and clean. But it's the caring staff, the friendly residents and their family members who make this a Five Star facility. Since our parent has been there, the journey has been less stressful and more meaningful because of this group of wonderful people. Thanks to all of you. "

"The staff at Brighton Gardens of Charlotte was very professional. I was impressed with the whole facility and the cleanliness of it. That would've been a nice place for my sister to be. We were shown several rooms, and they were all nice. There was a smaller one and then a two-bedroom that she probably would've been in. It looked like they had a lot of things planned for the residents there. Everybody was just very friendly, even some of the residents that I talked to. When we were touring, they were finishing up with lunch. It smelled wonderful. I think they had chicken potpie. It was a real good experience."

"Emeritus South Park is dedicated completely to memory care, which was what mom needed. The staff there was extremely helpful, very nice, and caring. The food was very good. It's very nice place. Mom has her own room, own closet, her own bathroom, and we were allowed to decorate her room for her. "

"I was very impressed with Brookdale Carriage Club Providence. I felt like it was a beautiful campus. The connectivity of the buildings was great. They have a great new gym. Everybody that I saw there was smiling and seemed to be doing well. Eva, who gave me the tour, was wonderful. She was not pushy or anything. She was very good at listening to me and also giving me a lot of good information. She was great. The place is beautiful. The walking path there is something that my aunt would love. She wants to be out walking, and they have great walking paths that would still keep her within the complex that would be safe, so that was great. They have a lot of opportunities for people. They have a pool, they're doing water aerobics, and they've got a gardening area that has beautiful zinnias and vegetables growing. I've been trying to also get my parents to look at one of these places (they're 95 and 92), and I could see my parents at this place, too. They have like a little patio or balcony off each room which takes you outside, and it is nice. I looked at the independent living and then the staff also took me to the assisted living because I wanted to look at that. The good thing about that is that with assisted living, it's still very close. You can still go over there and use all the other amenities and things over at the independent living clubhouse area. It's all just sort of right there altogether. That was nice. There were options to have a place that was connected indoors to where they would go to eat, where the library was, and where all the activities were. That's the whole clubhouse, so you wouldn't have to go outside to get to them. If it was a bad day outside weather-wise, you could just do your walking inside on these long quarters. There's one big, long corridor that connects one big building to the main clubhouse. I liked my tour. I saw a lot of positive things there. They have redone some stuff recently, and that was good. I went over my time with the tour staff, but she was very gracious, and she said she had plenty of time and she just continued to take me around the place."

"Summit Place of Southpark looked really good. I went on a Saturday afternoon and the substitute team did their best to show me around. It looked beautiful. I arrived at lunchtime, and it smelled very good. The dining room was cheerful."

"It was more homey for my mother-in-law. The people were more welcoming. The residents that were there were very friendly. It's an older building. It's a little less expensive because you're not paying for all the modern looks. They have activities and meals. There are three floors, and each floor has four caregivers, so if one of the patients needs something, they're right there. They have all the appliances. The staff member was fantastic. There wasn't a question that we asked her that she didn't answer. She was very upfront and helpful. Their activity room was kind of in disarray. They're doing some kind of Disney feature, so it was a wreck. If it didn't have the sign out front, you would think it was an apartment building."

"Sunrise on Providence was a very clean place with adequate activities. I saw a nice single room and a double room. It was one of the places that I liked more than the others, and their price was OK. I saw a sitting room where they can watch TV and a game room."
