"It was a small, clean, and a quiet community. It had an activity room, and it had outside entertainment that they bring in from time to time. The residents are also able to go outside as long as they don't have dementia. They do exercises outside to get some fresh air. They serve 3 meals a day. "

"The Pines on Carmel was very clean and very handicap accessible. I went to see an area where people could go out and just sit. I would have had to take my wheelchair for something like that instead of walking, but that was perfect. The woman who assisted me was very professional and very caring. She wanted to help me, but it was out of her jurisdiction to help me with my finances. She said she would have to have somebody else call me about that part, but I never got a follow-up call about that. So, I'm assuming that for what I needed, they just couldn't help me. I wasn't stressing over it, though. I was OK with everything. The visit was perfect."

"My mom moved into Brookdale South Charlotte. At first, she was very upset that she was there because she doesn't like being away from home, but she seems to be adjusting well. We've been very impressed with the staff there. They have all been very willing to answer our questions and take our calls because we've called a lot to check on my mom. We got to see her sitting there talking to people and laughing, so it was a good experience. My mom's room is fantastic. She got one of those rooms that are much larger than the regular room. The facility looks fantastic. You can tell it's been recently renovated and updated. They said my mom is eating, so the food must not be too bad, or she wouldn't eat. The dining area is very open with small tables for small groups. It had a homey feel. They have six activities every day, and they transition those around."

"My cousin will be moving into The Meridian at Carolina Lakes. It is very new, very upscale, and very bright. It looks more like a hotel instead of an assisted living facility. It's got a pool 24/7. It is very, very nice, and it's way cheaper. It's close to me, that's why I picked it. The staff was very helpful and very friendly, yet professional. They were very caring. They took their time. They invited us to have lunch to check out the food. The chef came out and introduced herself to us, and we hadn't even signed in yet. The service was exceptional, and it was a very pleasant experience. The food was excellent. The rooms are beautiful, white, bright, and have a little bit of a kitchenette with a microwave. They even have a washing machine in the room and a little refrigerator. They were very nice and very spacious. They have a bathroom and a closet."

"My mom will be moving into Chandler Place Assisted Living and Memory Care. The sales and marketing director, Kelly, is fantastic at her job. They have long-term care here. She was able to navigate that with me a lot better than anyone else. She asks better questions on intake, very thought-provoking questions about Mom's long-term care, and how we initially get started. I can't say enough good things about Kelly. The facility was clean. Everything just gave me a really warm and pleasant feeling. I met the chef and he was very personable. He was interested in fine-tuning meals. The facility smells very pleasant. The residents all look very happy. They have a library and a room where they watch TV. I saw the shuttle services bring in people from an outing where they went to a local pizzeria. I was able to see that they could have all different levels of activities for their residents."

"The Post At Providence has been a Godsend for our parent and our family. Yes, the home is beautiful, comfortable and clean. But it's the caring staff, the friendly residents and their family members who make this a Five Star facility. Since our parent has been there, the journey has been less stressful and more meaningful because of this group of wonderful people. Thanks to all of you. "

"I toured Brighton Gardens of Charlotte. They offered a lot in everything that we were looking for, but it was way above our budget for what they could do. I loved everything about them. It was a very nice facility, and the lady who gave the tour was good."

"My mother just moved into Brookdale South Park. What made me move there was its close proximity to where mom was. She's in memory care and they were very helpful in getting us what we needed to move in. The staff seems very friendly and accommodating. She does not articulate really well, but she seems to be eating and she seems happy. The place is laid out to accommodate each person in their location. It is kind of set up like a wagon wheel and each area is labeled, so if you are able to comprehend where you are, then you will know where you need to go. It appears very clean. She is getting her value's worth for being there for such a short time. It is close to a hospital."

"The one I liked the most was the Brookdale Carriage Club Providence. Eva, the girl that showed us around, was so nice and wanted to try to fit the place to us, as to what we're looking for. It's a large place, and it covers all types of care. You can go in as an independent, and then if you need help, you can switch over and get assisted living right in the same place. Then, if you need memory care, they also have that available. That appealed to me because as you get older, you change, and I wouldn't want to move again. It had everything you could want. They have at least three meals a day, and on Sunday, they give you brunch. I didn't taste their food. I was invited back to taste it, but I never got back because of my fall. They were generous-sized and well-appointed rooms. They had a full kitchen with a stove, a microwave, a refrigerator, a dishwasher, and a washer and dryer. It had everything. It was spotless and very well done."

"My mother-in-law was a resident of Summit Place of South Park. She has passed on now, but she stayed there. She started out in assisted living, and went all the way through to hospice. She was in assisted living first, then they moved her to memory care, and then she went to hospice. They were wonderful. Everything about that place was wonderful. They took great care of her, and the rooms were nice. We really liked it, and the staff was wonderful. The food was very good. They had a gym where she could go and work out. They had personal trainers that would come. Of course, we had to pay extra to schedule those. They had a beauty salon and a nail salon, a nice dining hall, a theater room where they could watch movies, and a game room where they could play cards or bingo. They had an entertainment room where they had piano players come and play piano for them and sing. They had a lot of activities for them. They also had a little courtyard as well. They don't have as big of a courtyard as another community I toured; it was a very small area."

"It was more homey for my mother-in-law. The people were more welcoming. The residents that were there were very friendly. It's an older building. It's a little less expensive because you're not paying for all the modern looks. They have activities and meals. There are three floors, and each floor has four caregivers, so if one of the patients needs something, they're right there. They have all the appliances. The staff member was fantastic. There wasn't a question that we asked her that she didn't answer. She was very upfront and helpful. Their activity room was kind of in disarray. They're doing some kind of Disney feature, so it was a wreck. If it didn't have the sign out front, you would think it was an apartment building."

"I fell in love with Sunrise on Providence. I liked everything about it. It seemed at home. It was just beautiful: the whole place, the layout, and the furniture. The rooms were handicap accessible. It was perfect. They were very professional and very caring. They listened to me and I'm a talker. They listened to my every word, but when they told me their pricing, I just couldn't afford it. It wasn't in my budget."
