Memory Care Communities in Lake Wylie, SC

"I thought morning side was a good match for my aunt. The interior was fine and comfortable. They have a secured courtyard where my aunt could walk the dog. The dog wouldn't be able to escape the premises because if something like that happened to her dog, it would be a big problem for my aunt. There was a person that had followed up with me, we do communicate on a regular basis and I liked that. They had activities, but I don't know much about them. "

"I liked the professionalism of the people. I would recommend them to anybody. They were very friendly and very helpful. The clients all seemed very happy, friendly, and seemed to be enjoying themselves. The place was clean. It was great; it was beautiful. My mother has problems with carpal tunnel and arthritis in her right hand and she has problems with her hip. She would not be able to get herself to and from the cafeteria with any ease; however, by state law, they can't serve the meals in the room."

"My husband will move into The Haven. The residents seemed happy, and it was very clean. It did not have long hallways, and the common areas were very open and sunny. The food was very good. The memory care unit was a separate unit all on one floor. The outdoor areas were secured and accessible for the residents. The residents' rooms were adjacent to the common areas, so they could walk around in the evenings if they wanted to, and it's like a small town. Like they've got a hairdressing salon and an ice cream shop. It's all set up on the inside like a small town, so it feels like a little village on the inside. The staff was lovely."

"I toured here. I saw the assisted living and the memory care facility. It's beautiful, spotless, clean, and a very personable staff. I didn't get to see a lot of the activities because they were getting ready to have a Valentine's party. As far as the room, I saw a couple of rooms that were furnished, and they're the basic rooms. The patients did have their own furniture and pictures in their rooms. With memory care, they did not have bathrooms or showers there inside. They're very nice rooms. They're good for what they need. I didn't get to see a room over at the assisted living because I was more looking at the memory care. I did get to see the lobby and some of that like their dining room and things like that. They have a salon. I did see their TV room, which is where they do arts and crafts over the memory care side. It was clean, and it didn't smell like pee. The staff were all very nice."

"It was very nice. The room was very nice, very bright, and it seemed bigger than some of the other ones. It was a smaller community, not as many residents, but the age of the population was older than what we were looking for. My husband is only 53, so we were looking for something that had some people that were either in their 50's or early 60's. It just wasn't the right fit for us. It had a very good feel; it seemed that everybody there enjoyed being there and working there. The day that we visited, they were having staff appreciation, and they had a red-carpet theme, so they had the red-carpet and snacks -- just kind of a lot going on. You are like pleasantly surprised from what the outside looks like when you go in. The inside is just totally different than what you see; "you can't read a book by its cover" is the best way to describe this one. It was lovely inside, and the people were lovely. "

"I liked CoHomes Boutique Senior Living. My mom was there for respite care and it was a good experience. The community was great. I liked the staff. They washed and folded her clothes. She had a large room with twin beds and a nice closet. They had cameras in, so I felt safe having my mom there. They had activities such as painting and playing games. They talked to her and engaged her, which was what she needed, and the place was clean. The dining room was nice. If I ever wanted to to put her in a senior building permanently, I would want her to go there. It was a great value for my money."

"We toured Brookdale South Park. It's a smaller unit, but it's all memory care. We were much more pleased with their memory care situation looking at it compared to the other place. They have very friendly staff, and the residents are very engaged (if they want to be). They had an activity program going on at the time so we could actually watch them in action in the activity room area where they had a table set-up. The people who were in there were having a good time. One of the residents came out and said, 'You haven't introduced me.' They filled us in about her a little later, and it was just interesting hearing what her background was. You could tell that the people enjoyed what they were involved in and what was going on (the social part of it especially). Of course, they weren't forced to go do this. There were residents who were in their rooms watching TV, resting, or whatever; they didn't want to go and participate in that that day. The rooms were nice. This facility also had outdoor space that was enclosed. They have safe areas, where residents could be outside for a while and could enjoy being out in the sunshine or out of the building for a little bit. Everything was in a secure area, so they couldn't wander off or anything like that. To me, it seems a little bit like an older facility. It was nice enough that there wasn't anything wrong with it, but it wasn't going to blow you away when you walked in. However, all the staff are very good and very friendly. Even when we were leaving walking through the parking lot, somebody who we hadn't even met spoke to us. He was a very friendly staff."

"I went over to Charlotte Square, but they're not doing tours over there. I didn't know that until I was there. The lady came out and spoke with me. She said they're not doing any tours due to COVID. After I spoke with her I decided that was not the place I wanted my dad to be anyway. The grounds were nice and well kept. The staff was informative and friendly. The grasses were cut, and everything was trimmed. It was almost immaculate. There wasn't any trash around. It was very clean. She gave a short description about what they do and the pricing, and basically saying that they do memory care. It was very short. I only talked to her maybe for five minutes."

"We chose Brighton Gardens because they had availability, and the age population was the right fit for my husband. He's only been there about two weeks, and so far so good. I am impressed with their location, and I just had a good feel of the place. You just kind of walk-in, and it has a good feel; it doesn't feel like it is institutional. "

"It's convenient to our home and they have small assisted living rooms. My mother-in-law has been in Summit Place of South Park for three years now. The staff is fine as well as the dining setup. She has limited funding and I personally think this is the best for what she could afford and it's conveniently located to us and that's the reason we chose it. "

"I visited the Blake at Edgewater. It’s very nice, well-decorated, and with very nice apartments. There were not enough staff members to provide the care we need, but it was a very nice place. They have physical therapy rooms, but no one was there, and I did not see anyone doing activities."

"Brookdale South Charlotte had new apartments, and they have been redone. The person who assisted us was very nice, knowledgeable, and courteous. They had an exercise and art class going on, and they have a main activity in the afternoon. They had everything there. The dining area was fine, they had a chef, and the menu was satisfactory. "

"Brookdale Carriage Club Providence was too spread out for me and my husband. He was with me then and he could barely walk. It was just too spread out to get to the dining room and whatever you're doing. It was not a level that he would have been able to manage. They had very nice rooms. The staff was very nice. Everything is in one big recreation center, the meals are there, the swimming pool is in the back, and they have a lower level that has a gym with classes. If you really are able bodied and can walk, then it's the place for you, but if you have trouble getting around, I don't know, unless you pay extra to be in one of the homes that are nearer the recreation center. They have a golf cart, but you have to call for them to come and pick you up. We ate lunch there."

"I liked Sunrise on Providence. We toured both the memory care, which is downstairs, and the regular residence. I like the fact that if something happens to my father, if he falls or something, they are still able to take care of him, and he doesn't have to go to another facility. For amenities, they have food, medication reminders, they have activities for them to get them out and move around. I just like the fact that he could have his own space, or he can share it with someone appropriate for him to be with, and normally he used to be by himself. So I like the fact that he had different options. The rooms were very nice, she showed where you share, or he can have his own private area. We went over price and everything. I'm concerned about the screened doors that they have. Someone escaped once before, but they say if somebody goes out those screened doors, the alarms would go off. They're right there on Providence Road, and that's a very busy road. Everyone's pretty friendly, and the person who gave the tour, she was new, she came from another Sunrise, but she's really good. The residents were all taking their time, they were being very patient."
