The Blake at Edgewater was so super nice. It was the top of the top. It was very nice. Our parents visited with us. It's just gorgeous. It's in a wonderful setting. It sits by a man-made lake. They have outdoor seating areas that are just beautiful. They have a walking trail right around the lake. The dining hall makes you feel like you're going to a four-star restaurant. They have fancy menus. They can eat outside in the courtyard. There were just so many beautiful things. They had vaulted ceilings. It was a beautiful community. They're some of the largest floor plans of all the places we reviewed, which was one of the reasons why we wanted to go visit them. They have three different sizes. We were only looking at mid-size or large. They're midsized with 650 square feet and their large two-bedroom apartment was 975 square feet. That is very hard to find in assisted living. They were very nice. They had pretty much full kitchens. They didn't have a stove, but a very large kitchen area with a full refrigerator. It made you feel like you're really in an apartment. They had a very nice activity room. When we were there, we viewed them playing bingo. There's shopping and restaurants nearby that they do field trips to. I spent so much time on the phone with the salesperson, and we spent quite a bit of time chatting with the lady who gave us the tour, following up with her, and then meeting the person at the front desk. I also talked to their health and wellness director as well on the phone. I rated them very high with customer service, answering questions, and being forthcoming with information. We did not try their food there, but we looked at their menu and they set it up like a four-star restaurant. They have these fancy menus. You come to the meal and you make your order then, rather than a lot of places have you fill it out a week in advance, and then you come to the meal and you never remember what you ordered, and you always want what the other person has. This one, you sit down like you're really at a restaurant. You order on the spot. They have a full-time chef. I was very, very impressed. We thought my parents might choose this one. This was the best of the best. The only reason my mom did not go this route is because it's a larger facility. We were concerned if my dad was ever not with my mom, he would never find his way back to his room. He's not quite where he can be left alone. He panics if she's not with him.

My father has moved into The Blake at Edgewater. I like the large rooms, the already set plans of activities for the residents that are there, the care that they get, and the security that's around the place, having to get in and out of the building. There's a great physical therapist that's helping my father get back on his feet, to hopefully get back on to a walker, and not having to be in a wheelchair. They encourage him to do things and he's getting things done where I couldn't, so that's been fabulous. They have a lot of family activities, too, and I've been to a couple. We had hamburgers one night, and there was a derby party for the Kentucky Derby and some other things. They try to get the family involved as well. The food is good, and Dad likes it. He loves breakfast. He loves the choices. You have a menu each day, so you can kind of pick and choose what you want and if you don't like any of it, you can always get a hotdog or a hamburger or chicken salad or just a salad. They give you lots of choices. They had little desserts that were fabulous. The facility is very nice. There's a lot of stuff going on every day. They have outings that you can go on and they plan events like whoever's birthday month it is, celebrity or whatever. They'll plan the entire month around that particular person. It's Jimmy Buffett month this month, so Cheeseburger in Paradise, and they had the place decorated up and all that sort of good stuff. Value for money is fair.

Our experience with The Blake at Edgewater was very good. Monica led the tour for us and answered most of our questions. The rooms were big, bright, and roomy. We saw the menu. We saw the activities room, the rehab room, and the movie theater. I saw residents making jewelry and doing puzzles. The atmosphere was very good. It's brand new.

My mother is a resident of The Blake at Edgewater for almost four years. Through my dad's journey with hospice, the love that they showed my parents and the compassion they showed my family was so incredible. I won't even consider moving my mother away from there even though it takes two hours for me to get there and come home. They're just great to her. I love that they get them up every morning and they're dressed for breakfast. People come into the community and do things with them, they'll play movies, music, or dance with them to keep them active. They try to keep them out of their rooms as much as possible to keep them engaged. My parents were in an apartment that we were able to furnish out of their home, and it was wonderful. Now, I'm in the process of moving mom to a smaller room since she doesn't need the large apartment any longer. Their laundry's taken care of and their rooms are clean. Everyone that works in memory care under the leadership of Magda, they are just incredible and I just can't say enough good things. The food is wonderful. The day my dad passed away, my mother suddenly started eating again, and dinner looks fantastic, it was meatloaf and green beans and they had dessert. They all sit in the dining room together that looks out over a courtyard that they have access to because there are no exits. I just can't say enough about them, they're great. And through the pandemic, my parents never got sick.

I like everything about The Blake at Edgewater. Mom has beginning stages of dementia, but the people there know exactly what they're doing. I was giving her meds, and they said those meds need to be 12 hours apart; nobody in the other place told me that. They know exactly how to handle everything, and it's a real nice facility. She's got a place to walk outside for approximately a mile and a half around the pond. It's set up really nice. She's in assisted living. She likes the food a lot better than where she was. The dining area is real nice. When you walk in the door of her apartment, there's a sitting area with a couch, TV and a recliner; a little bit further down is the bedroom and the bathroom. It's all in one room, but it has kind of a half wall to break it up a little bit. They do exercise and crafts. They go on trips. There's a lot of things they do. I was only there once. Every time I call, she's out of the room.
