Angel Care at Vero Beach was a small assisted living facility. It's a 10-bed facility. It's unbelievable what's going on over there. On the outside, it looks like a very small, humble, homey place because it's a converted home, but the owner that runs everything there, Yoli, had some controlling issues to the degree that the residents were fed so little (we could not bring them any food, too). They state that they have 24-hour staff and they do not. The owner goes to sleep in the building next to it, but the monitors that they have in the rooms do not wake her up. She was extremely manipulative and retaliatory and my loved one was afraid to ask for anything or to stand up for his rights at all and he got so frail. They didn't talk to him or interact with him and did not give him any normal interactions. I had to call him every day to talk to him. The inside was clean, but the yard on the outside was pretty rundown, and they had a porch that was very dingy and small. The staff were untrained. There were people working there that had no business working there. Some of them were kind, but they were all under the thumb of the management, which was highly retaliatory. They will leave residents out if they are mad at them and will not allow them to bring their grievances to the management. For instance, if they bring their grievances to the management for improvement, they are retaliated against and threatened to be evicted.

My father is a resident of Angel Care at Vero Beach. What I loved the most is that it's a small community. They only have up to ten residents at any time, and they're able to handle the one-on-one very well. It's a very loving community. I tried their food, it was an excellent, full meal. It was just delicious. He has a single, private room, and it's large with a built-in desk. It has large windows that overlooks the gardens, it's light, airy, and beautiful. My dad participates in dancing, but they had to get him up in these dances. They always send me videos on my phone with him dancing. He's got to have a lot of help, but they do get him up and he dances.
