"My mom is now in Brookdale Melbourne, which is a smaller community than the others I've toured. They had single and double-occupancy rooms, and they don't have kitchens in the rooms. They had a large dining area and an enclosed courtyard with a gazebo and a garden. They have a large living room area or TV room, they had a couple of activity rooms, a pool table, and an exercise bike. They do cards, bingo, puzzles, and they have a yard sale. My mom enjoys these activities. It was a little rocky at first, but now they have a new kitchen staff, so things have improved. I haven't tried the food but it looks OK. The staff members have all been very helpful."

"My uncle lives in Palm Cottages. They have calendars up in the hall and up in each cottage. Each cottage can hold eight people. They have movie nights and they have a small bus that takes them to the mall. They recently had a trip to the zoo. I like the cleanliness and the friendliness of the people there. There's never an odor when I walk through. The people are always out and about. They have a TV in the main cottage where the dining area is. It is more like family oriented dining and it looks like an oversized living room. He has a TV in his own room. They're more like rooms rather than apartments. There is a chef that comes and cooks breakfast, lunch, and dinner. It is a little expensive, but it is really nice."

"The thought of moving from Assisted LIving to Memory Care was daunting. However we could not have made a better choice. Alura and its staff provide a safe and secure environment for our loved one and offer amazing activities to engage them in fun, entertaining and enriching events. A recent planned afternoon visit by a hired Elvis impersonator had the entire unit hooting and clapping to the music. It was unbelievable how alive the residents in memory care became the moment the entertainer stepped in. Memory issues? Not that day, everyone was signing the words, lots of dancing (wheel chairs and all) and even a peanut butter and banana sandwich snack. Kudos to Mary and her team for putting this together and for making a very MEMORABLE experience for the residents and their families."

"We toured the Century Oaks for my mom. It's a little bit older building, but it was newly renovated. They were two-story buildings and it was a large facility. They had single-occupancy and double-occupancy rooms, and the kitchens had just a microwave and not a stove. I met the front desk person, the activities coordinator who was doing two jobs at once that day, so she gave us the tour but she also does the activities. The people all seemed happy and satisfied with their living conditions and being there. They allow small pets and I saw a couple of small dogs there. They keep the memory care separate from assisted living."

"My aunt is here. The place is very clean, bright and very light. What I like best is that the staff is excellent, honest, understanding and accommodating. We are able to work out a meal plan. Their food is good. They did the supervision of my aunt very well. She's in a two-bedroom apartment. They go out to see movies. They go out shopping. They have arts and crafts. They have sing-a-long. They have everything there. "

"Grand Villa of Palm Bay was pretty good. It was down on the water, which was very nice to look at. They had some activities, but I didn't get the right feeling from them. I only met two people, and they were OK. We talked a little bit about the accommodations and that was it. Not much information was shared. They had a little bit of hurricane damage that they still were working on, but other than that, it was OK."

"I moved into Cedar Creek Assisted Living. It's just very nice. The people are very nice here. I like it a lot. The ambiance was nice. The people are very attentive, which is good. I have a two-room suite with a living room, a bedroom, and a small kitchen area. We've been trying to get my bed here, and for some reason, there's been a delay along the way. So it's been three days without my bed, and they've been lending me one of their model bedrooms so I can sleep at night. They help me out. The food is very good. I like the way they run the restaurant. The only problem is getting to breakfast. They're very early, and I haven't been able to get here for breakfast. They have a sunroom. It's a pretty big place. They have a cook who has been here for eight years. The food is always served hot, which is amazing. The problem is getting from one area to another. It's a long walk."

"At first sight the building is beautiful. For the first month or two my friend was treated like a queen. What ever she needed she received. However once the nursing staff got comfortable around her, they no longer seemed to care about her. They stopped caring about her and how she was doing all together to be honest. She would call for assistance and none of the cna or rna would come and help her, the only ones that cared were the cooks. The food is average, but the cooks are amazing. They will cook anything she wants with out a single complaint. The wait staff is great, the kids are funny, smart, and seem to really care for the residents. I really wish the Nursing staff had the same gusto as the cooks and servers. The rooms are very nice, and well kept. The building offers activities, a nice swimming pool and amazing cooks. I would recommend this place only if the nursing staff was to change! "

"My mom will be moving into Chateau Madeleine. For memory care, there are 11 beds on the first floor and 11 beds on the second floor. I like very much that the rooms can be personalized to whatever the resident is comfortable with. You provide your own furniture, so you could make it your own to match your own personality. It doesn't look like a hospital or a nursing home. It looks very homelike. The staff was very friendly. I was introduced to the night nurse. She was very patient and answered every question that I had. I was allowed to speak to the residents on my tours. Some of them were very friendly, and some of them were very shy. I love that the residents are only in their beds at night. They keep them busy and visually stimulated. They play calming music in the background so that all their senses are stimulated. They eat all together in their own dining room. Memory care has a separate dining room as opposed to assisted living. It was a very small group. It seemed like this was such a very calm and warm atmosphere. I also love that they had an enclosed courtyard that had a covered area so they wouldn't be out in the sun. But if they wanted to go for a walk in the sunshine, they had that opportunity. They take them on outings as well. They have specialized vans, and they'll go to a restaurant or to a shop or take them to the beach with enough supervising staff that there's no danger whatsoever to the residents. I met four staff members all together in different capacities. I met the nurse, the director, the receptionist, and one of the CNAs who helps the residents during meal times."

"I moved my Mom into Sonata about six months ago and it's been one of the best experiences ever. From the sales department, to nursing to the food, everything has been top notch. It's like being on a cruise every day, always good food, always activities going on and friendly faces in every corner. "
