We toured the Plymouth Harbor on Sarasota Bay. They took us on the whole thing. It's a huge place. They've kept updating. Some beautiful artists come in there and all the walls have nice art on them. They have lots of activities, and take you to some places. That's why I like their location. They'll take you to St. Armands and that's a big shopping area that is by the beach. They've got it all there. The staff was very good. One gal took us and did one part and another one showed up. She did the other part, and then they gave us the booklet with the fees and all their activities.

Plymouth Harbor is a high rise. The lobby was really very nice. It's considered pretty upscale. I thought the apartments were nice enough, but they were a little cramped. They were furnished that way, but I didn't get a feeling of the apartments being truly spacious. The staff member took me into the apartments of two people who had granted permission, and they were furnished very nicely, but I felt they were just a little too small. They have a very nice gym. They have a very nice area where you can work in arts and crafts. They have a swimming pool. It's a very upscale place. The staff members were very, very nice, and it's very nice inside.

Plymouth Harbor was magnificent and beautiful, and the facilities were great. Everything was good, but they required a tremendous amount of upfront money to get in, so we were not interested. It was wonderful. My rating has got nothing to do with the facility itself; it's got to do with the amount of money they want upfront. I simply can't afford it.

What I like about Plymouth Harbor is that it is surrounded by water. Also Sarasota has ballet, opera, and theater which I'm interested in. They were totally redoing their nursing home, and I like it. However, Plymouth is an older facility. I questioned a couple of the people, and they were very happy.

MY MOM AND DAD MOVED THERE IN 1978. MY DAD PREDECEASED MY MOTHER, BUT AT THE TIME OF HER DEATH SHE WAS A 31 YEAR RESIDENT AND THE PERSON WHO HAD LIVED THERE THE LONGEST. MY PARENTS, MYSELF AND MY 4 CHILDREN LOVED EVERY DAY THEY LIVED THERE. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT AND PLAN ON MAKING PLYMOUTH HARBOR MY LAST HOME. I WOULD CONSIDER MYSELF BLESSED IF I COULD LIVE OUT MY LIFE AT PLYMOUTH HARBOR. NVONG

I think it's fabulous and obviously because I'm going to move there. The people there and everything about Plymouth Harbor is terrific. I chose it because of the views and number one reason is location. It's a walk to the beach; a walk to St. Armands Circle. You can walk to Sarasota if you want to over the Causeway. It’s a fabulous location, it’s a top door organization, and the views are out of this world.

It was on the water. They had buses to take you to churches and symphonies. The rooms were very spacious. The staff and food were fine.

I did a quick tour of Plymouth Harbor. It looked wonderful. The rooms were lovely and the staff was accommodating. I had lunch there, and the food was very good. They also offer a number of social activities and continuing care if you needed it.

I absolutely love that our good family friend is living at Plymouth Harbor because it is a wonderful and delightful assisted living facility that feels very independent, and less like an assisted living home. What our family friend loves most about Plymouth Harbor (she has been living in an apartment in the facility for over a decade) is how gorgeous the view from her apartment is! The entire condominium is located right on the bay, and you can't believe just how gorgeous the view really is. She has two walls of glass windows overlooking the crystal blue water that is so clear you can even see fish and coral! We love to have meals in her place instead of in the dining room (although the dining room is quite nice and the food is fine) because her view is simply the best.Another nice thing about this place is that there are guest apartments. This means that every time her family wants to visit her from out of town, they just rent out an apartment themselves and everyone is happy. Plymouth Harbor has the best location, which is on Lido Key, which has a gorgeous public beach right down the block that seems more like a private beach because it is so gorgeous (but it has lifeguards). St. Armands Circle is a big shopping/dining attraction area and is right down the street from Plymouth Harbour, which makes it easy for her to ask for a ride from the facilities and meet us out for dinner, even with her limited accessibility! It also has its own salon inside the building, activities, classes, and nurses who are always available. She loves it here.

The staff is incredibly friendly and knowledgeable - they know all of the residents (there are hundreds of them) by name, and remember personal information about them (family members' names, occupations, etc.). It is obvious that everybody at Plymouth Harbor (from the nurses to the waiters) care about the residents. One of the major negatives of the community is the lack of assisted living apartments. There are hundreds of serviced apartments in the community, as well as a nursing center, but there are actually very few (about ten) assisted living apartments. Plymouth Harbor has guaranteed that residents will be taken care of no matter what stage of medical assistance they need, however this isn't the case since there is at least a year-long waiting list for one of the assisted living apartments.

We visited Plymouth Harbor in Sarasota, while searching for a suitable assisted living facility for my friend's mother. Many of their family members live in the area, so this would be an ideal place for her to live. The outer grounds looked well-kept and pleasant. The staff greeted us and seemed very warm and friendly - which is the most important thing to my friend's family. They want their mother to be treated well in her new home. The foyer was nicely decorated with fresh flowers and seemed very homey, as did all of the communal rooms. The rooms were all clean, well-kept and conveniently designed. They take the time to personalize to each resident's tastes. The dining areas were nicely designed and warm. Residents may choose from a nice variety of deliciously prepared food that is also nutritious. The dietician and chef changes up the menu to keep it interesting and encourage residents to make suggestions. We liked that the staff encourages participation and tries to make everything interesting for its residents. They have outings to local libraries, events, culture, restaurants, shopping and even athletic activities. The activity calendar featured many healthy and stimulating activities. They also take suggestions to update the schedule as much as possible. The attentive and caring staff created a friendly vibe that was also safe for the seniors. We were very impressed with this living environment and all that it has to offer.
