I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

After another option we were able to get mom into Libby Bortz. It is clean, rooms are adequate, food is good. We feel she is safe our biggest concern. We are actively involved and feel it was the best decision we made. Some small issues, however, it is a great place.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

Libby Bortz does not listen to the residence. . They complained about the food and nothing was done. Two years of complaining and the food is still horrible. The other problem is the dining room is way too cold. My friend tells me she needs to wear a coat in order to eat in the dining room. Many times, she leaves the food there uneaten because it tastes so bad and is poorly cooked. The facility is beautiful and clean. However, I wish they would pay attention to the residence living there. The director, Marcy, is very cold and unfriendly to the residence. She will walk right by them without saying hello.

I visited this facility

You have to be very independent to live at Libby Bortz. It was not a locked place, and you just have to be extremely independent to live there, so it would not be suitable if the person had a high level of cognitive difficulties, and it’s for low income. The staff was fine. They were pretty hands-off. They had activities but they don’t get people. If you want to go, you go. They don’t come after you, so you’re very independent if you live there. You may have some memory loss, and if you pay a little extra they will dispense your medication. It was very clean. The rooms may be fine for some people, but they are small.

I visited this facility

I really liked Libby Bortz. It was a wonderful place. I liked the way it was painted; the colors were very comforting to me. The dining area looked really nice. I was impressed at how friendly the people were and how they all seemed happy. However, I was not accepted there.

I visited this facility

We visited Libby Bortz. It was really nice and clean, but they do not encourage people with wheelchairs, and we were afraid that my mother-in-law might be in a wheelchair within a year or two. I was really impressed with it. We were given two wonderful tours. It was the cleanest of all by far. It was spotless because they wipe up all of the time. I would say the accommodations were not as luxurious as some, but the facility was very clean, and there were lots of activities. I like the location too because people there could walk places. They encourage people to go out and walk to the senior center or sign up for a class. The community is right near downtown Littleton and is definitely for moderate to low income.

I am a friend or relative of resident

I will admit, my friend, whom is at the facility, has said the place is extremely clean and it looks like and feels like a hotel. However, and this is a big However, The food is terrible. At one time the food was great. However, , the chef was fired. Since he left, the food has gone down hill. The chicken is dry the meals are uneatable, for instance, one day they had corn beef and they weren't able to cut it with a knife. When the residents complained, they were told over and over we are working on it. I even called the director and spoke with her several months ago and still no improvement in the meals. I feel extremely frustrated because there is not much I can do. It's not like the resident can go to another location to eat. For many of these people, the only thing they have to look forward to is having a nice meal. Unfortunately, this is not the case at Libby Bortz Assisted Living. Here is an example of their choices Cheese Enchiladas with Spanish Rice and Refried Beans or Italian Seasoned Pork with Rice Pilaf and Snap Peas. It may sound good but the taste has a lot to be desired. My hope in writing this review, is that someone there will listen and start improving the quality of food.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

I actually drove past and went in at Libby Bortz. The staff was very kind, organized, and they seemed to have a real understanding of the elderly and their needs. It’s a small facility, and the place is kept very clean. The food is good, and they offer a variety of services. They have games, three pianos, movies on two floors, a variety of sitting areas, and they do painting and bingo once a week. The rooms are adequate, you could have a bedroom, a private bath, and a large closet.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

My uncle was in Libby Bortz before he needed more care and was transferred to another place. It was fantastic. It was old fashioned but was very comfortable and nice for my uncle. He was there for a long time and we didn’t have any bad experiences. His room was lovely but it didn’t feel spacious and wasn't easy to get around. My uncle liked Libby Bortz.

I am/was a resident of this facility

I have been here 2 years and most functions are satisfactory. An exception is medication administration;if the prospective residence requires this aid, they should look for a facility that has documented verification of every step in the medication administration function.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

After visiting numerous assisted living centers for our loved-one to live in, the first thing we noticed about Libby Bortz when we walked in was a lack of offensive odors. Nearly every other place we visited smelled strongly of either urine or mildew. Libby Bortz is a center that is clean, beautifully decorated and well kept. In fact, when we first visited they were redecorating an area that they deemed "out-dated" in décor. Libby Bortz takes special care to give its residents a beautiful environment that feels like home. Our loved-one has lived there now for four years. The staff is always friendly toward non-residents when we visit. They provide activities for their residents that go above and beyond normal activities provided at nearly any center. For example, we've enjoyed a very nice Mother's Day tea every year complete with special entertainment. Just recently, they put on a pageant for the residents where those who wanted to participate were dressed in beautiful gowns, got their make-up and hair done for free and were able to walk the "cat-walk." Our loved-one raved about how enjoyable this was for her and other residents. When we visit, we regularly see the residents playing cards or games in the common areas, reading or enjoying social time and visiting on the many couches and seating areas scattered throughout the center. We have often witnessed residents playing the piano and others gathering around to listen or to join in an impromptu sing-along. Residents appear happy. They are free to participate in as little or as many planned activities as they desire. The only negative is how warm the center can sometimes feel. Individual A/C units were installed in upper level rooms to remedy the problem. This has quelled resident complaints about hot rooms. However, hallways can still be very warm.

Friend or relative of resident

I was really impressed with Libby Bortz. My mother had a small room for privacy, and was able to go to the common larger areas if she wanted to. These common areas were very comfortable and looked like large living rooms. There was a kitchen on her floor that she could use if she wanted to. There are also balconies off the common areas so the residence can sit outside. The place was always immaculate inside and outside. The staff was very friendly. They had a movie night and other activities for residents who were interested. I thought that overall it was a very nice place.
