"Holland Farms Senior Living was nice. It was almost brand-new. It was only there for two years or so. The staff members were all nice. They were great. The building overlooked a nice little park in the back with a big pond in the middle. It was good that you are not staring at buildings. They also had walking paths that pass the park. They provide transportation if they want to go to church or somewhere. They also had a library that was connected to the Norwalk Public Library. It looks like somebody from there would bring books in and stuff if you requested them, like once a week or once every couple of weeks. They had rooms to do activities, they had a puzzle room where they could do puzzles and stuff, and play cards if they wanted to. We saw a suite and a 1-bedroom, they were a decent size and they had full size in their rooms too. There's plenty of closet space in the suite, they could have a nice big closet."

"The interior decorating at the common areas of Bickford of West Des Moines was very nice. The memory care's billing amount was much clearer than the assisted living. It was nice that they had handicap bathrooms and temperature control. It seemed like a very homey area. I liked the memory care unit. The dining room was a very comfortable-looking place. "

"We visited the independent living community. The facility itself was great, and the apartment that we were looking at actually had a nice balcony, which would have been nice. For activities, they combined independent living with assisted living. They're a very beautiful place to go to, but just a little further away from all of our kids when I want to see them, so we decided to go somewhere else. They have a one-on-one exercise area and underground parking. They're also newer, and the staff members were always very lovely."

"We have visited Story Point several times over the last year as we have friends who reside there. We have been impressed with the cleanliness and quality of help at this facility. They always have fun activities scheduled and we have sampled numerous food items that were excellent. We got to tour the rooms when they first opened and they were of sufficient size and designed with warmth and comfort in mind."

"We like MorningStar Assisted Living & Memory Care at Jordan Creek. It was well-appointed and bright, and the atmosphere was good. The staff knew everyone that we met. They were getting ready for a bus ride. MorningStar at Jordan Creek is one of our favorites. There were more staff around. They do movie night, they were doing a popcorn thing when we were there, and it was friendly. The rooms were a good size and decent depending on how much money you wanted to spend, but for the smallest one, it was a decent size. The menu looked really good. The heavy menu is at noon and then they do it lighter menu at night for the memory care to try to get them settled down. The level of care seemed good. The nurses seemed to know their patients."

"My aunt was in the assisted living facility. It has a lot of activities, which I was happy to see. We got to eat lunch with her there, and it had an area that you could walk around outside without having the doors locked because it was kind of in a circle. She liked that really well. One of the activities she did with them was planting some roses in their garden. She stayed there about three months, and the staff was really good. They always came in and reminded her of who they were and what function they had there. Their food was really nice, too. She was also able to sit at different tables that she wanted to. She liked not being assigned a place, but sitting down where she wanted to talk with people. She made a little circle of friends there."

"I visited a person in 3801 Grand. It seemed like a clean place and was easy to get to. The room was clean, nice, and spacious. They had a meeting room for group get-togethers. "

"We went to Rock Creek Senior Living twice and we had a wonderful experience visiting it. The staff was very helpful, answered all of our questions, and followed up many times. It's very clean. We looked at a few different room options and sizes and mom found that she would prefer a bedroom unit. She liked it. It would be plenty for what she would need. We had a meal there and it was delicious. They served meals pretty much in the dining room, but you can also come down at any time during the day or night if you're hungry and get something off of an ala carte area. They had daily activities, indoor and outdoor. They had a gardening area, game rooms, and a movie area. They would also take their residents shopping, to movies, or bowling. So, there were all kinds of activities. She liked the atmosphere there and she thought that it was someplace she would like to be."

"Everyone was so kind & easy to work with....from the admissions coordinator to the nursing staff to the Maintenance team...and, of course, the other residents! The facility itself is top-notch. My Uncle was so proud to call it home when he lived there! He didn't want to move, but financially, it was in his best interest, although it was a tough decision for him to make. The Assisted Living apartment he lived in was simple, spacious & beautiful. He loved being able to stay in his apartment and have his alone time or go mingle with others in the commons area. And he loved venturing out to various places in Waukee on his scooter, especially since the facility was so close to the bike trail that he used to ride on when he rode a bicycle. He really liked interacting with the staff, too, because they became like family to him. The admissions coordinator even gave him a flower bouquet with a "Welcome Home" card in it when he moved in & that made him feel so very special...it still warms my heart when I think of what that small but kind gesture meant to my Uncle. "

"I have lived at StoryPoint Kettlestone for over a year. We were just bought by this company. We used to be Edencrest at Kettlestone. Everything has gone downhill. The food is horrible. We used to have a menu we could order from if we wanted something else besides what the regular menu was. Now you get a choice of three which are not good. So if you don’t want any of those you have nothing. Because they are not aloud to make you breakfast because it’s not breakfast time. Another thing maintenance Travis he talks to people more than he does his job! Many people wait months to get him to do anything for them. Most of the RA’s don’t know what they are doing. I believe they get them right off the street and invite them in to work. Another item is people go without medication for 2 weeks and one ended up going to the hospital. Good news we are moving on the 13th to another facility. They seem to be more organized and more stability there."
