"My dad is a resident of Calvin Community for about two years now. He started on the skilled nursing floor and got better and then moved to assisted living. It is a Christian faith-based community which is fun because we are Jewish. My dad is the only Jewish resident, and they could not be nicer. They are wonderful, loving, and supportive. It has a coffee shop on the bottom floor that is staffed by a volunteer and when you go in there and have a cookie and a piece of cake you can't even pay for it; it is free. At Christmas time, it looks like Santa Claus is about to come in; it is magical and beautiful. They have activities all the time. It is a loving and wonderful place and good. He is in a very big single room which is nice. He participates in some of the activities and some of them he does not. The place has a courtyard, flowers, and a yard, too."

"My mother is in Bishop Drum Retirement Center. We chose it because it was convenient for my family to visit her there. Their prices are reasonable for the area, and it's an all-in-one place. They have independent living, senior living, and a nursing home, all in one facility. They have a good nursing staff. They have a nurse on duty all the time. They have a doctor on call at all times. It's an older facility, but it's well-kept and clean. I never had any issues with that."

"I like Bishop Drumm Retirement Center very much, especially their communications with me. They're very good about keeping in touch about everything. My father is getting much better care than he was getting at home. They tend to his every need. I just don't have many complaints at all. He has a private room and you can furnish your own room. They provide the bare necessities to supply the room like a closet, dresser, side table, and his hospital bed. They have activities for him. They could probably have more activities, but he can't go outside unless someone goes with him. I wish he had more individual care as far as entertainment goes. We had several meals with him. The guests can buy a meal ticket for $3. The service was really good when I first went there, but just when I was leaving, they had a couple people that were just not as good. They accepted my feedback. I reported a couple of people as needing more training. It improved a little bit after that. There's been quite a bit of turnover in the kitchen help."

"Facilities better than others in the area. Well trained staff, a great chef and delightful menus and food. Includes highly regarded Care Center and Assisted Living facilities. Deerfield is a Life Care Community with Friendly and Caring Residents. Located on 50 acres, with a lake and connected to the most beautiful walking trails in the area. You can view an active Eagles nest, Heron rookery, deer, and waterfowl to name a few in walking distance. We love it. "

"Wesley Acres was very nice, very clean, organized, and very friendly. I liked everything about it in general. They had activities and tours. "

"My father is in Kennybrook Village. We chose it because it had the availability. The food and activities all seem OK with him. "

"We really like Arbor Springs of West Des Moines and the people there. It's such a good experience. Mom always says she likes the food. We haven't had a problem with them at all. "

"The staff at University Park seemed very nice. The people who live there had a very good relationship, were very friendly, and seemed to know one another. It’s all suites since it used to be a hotel. The rooms were all of the same size and shape. It’s kind of small for the price, but I have visited others that were way more expensive. They offer three meals a day. "

"We had my brother in law at Union Park Health Services for rehab. The staff seemed to take care of him. I am not happy with the doctor's medication program. Other than that, I have not identified any problems with regards to the facility. "

"This is our 9th year at EW. Interactions with staff are close, informative, and caring. While there are some smaller apartments (with multiple rooms), the larger places are in the most demand. Post-pandemic, residents enjoy concerts, movies, special events (for American Asian Pacific Islander commemoration there was a hula dancer, singer with ukulele, and an ice sculpture. Amenities include beauty salon, massage, footsore, marketplace, 2 restaurants, full bar, cribbage & other games. We have a wonderful new chef."

"My sister-in-law moved into Trinity Center ay Luther Park. It was just right down the road from where we live, so it was just really handy. And we knew some people that had some family members there, and they were all really happy with it. So that was kind of why we went that way. I think she is getting really good care, and they are in contact with us constantly about things. She quit eating and everything, so they contacted us, and we just put her on hospice this morning. I really can't say anything bad except for COVID. They can't go back to their rooms because of COVID, but that's not their fault. We haven't run into anybody that we haven't liked. Anytime I'm there, the food smells wonderful. From what she has eaten, which is not much, she said it was good. The facility was clean and homey. It doesn't look like a nursing home. It was pretty presentable. I'm happy with it. The staff members that I've met were all very nice and very accommodating."

"Mom is in Fleur Heights Center For Wellness and Rehab. The people there had been pleasant, and mom is getting the attention that she needs. Mom is sharing a room with another resident. They have bingo. They watch movies. They have a creative director, and mom is interested in art so she enjoys doing that. "
