"Deerfield was wonderful. My mother wanted to go back there, but they had no availability. They had a lot of activities. The nurses and assistants were very attentive. I really liked it. They had a huge dining hall. I was very impressed with it. She had a private room. It was very nice and homey. "

"We were looking for facilities within a certain radius, and with all the amenities and the price, Edgewater was the best fit. The staff are very positive and encouraging and understanding of the situation. My father is in an Alzheimer's unit, and his room is wonderful -- new carpet, new painting, very clean. The food is very good. They have people playing bingo, crafts, working on the computer, and I've seen concerts; they have people come in playing piano and groups singing. They are quite active. It is a locked facility, and it is very secure; he is not able to wander. "

"My mom is staying in Karen Acres Health Care Center. They have several different wings for different care types. They've got one big community room where everybody gathers for their meals, or for any of the activities that they have. They do have a section that's kind of set off to the end that's more of a quiet section. There's sofas and they can sit by the windows. The employees are all very attentive. They're very caring, very personable, and they keep in touch with me as to what's going on with her, and how she's doing. It's a small facility, so they're very well staffed, and everybody is so friendly. Mom participates in some of the activities. She enjoys playing bingo with them. Some of the other activities, she just likes to sit and watch, and compliment everything everybody else is doing."

"The first thing that I can say is "Wow." UHCC has a great staff and right after walking in through the front doors, it is very opening and welcoming and home like. I visited for my grandfather and while he did not go to this facility for distance reasons, I know he would have been happy. They offer a diverse menu, several activities and lots of lounging areas so families can come and visit as much and whenever they would like to. I am disappointed that he could not go as Urbandale Health Care Center would have been the closet thing to home with all of the amenities and caring staff to be there to help him 24/7. "

"My dad is a resident of Calvin Community for about two years now. He started on the skilled nursing floor and got better and then moved to assisted living. It is a Christian faith-based community which is fun because we are Jewish. My dad is the only Jewish resident, and they could not be nicer. They are wonderful, loving, and supportive. It has a coffee shop on the bottom floor that is staffed by a volunteer and when you go in there and have a cookie and a piece of cake you can't even pay for it; it is free. At Christmas time, it looks like Santa Claus is about to come in; it is magical and beautiful. They have activities all the time. It is a loving and wonderful place and good. He is in a very big single room which is nice. He participates in some of the activities and some of them he does not. The place has a courtyard, flowers, and a yard, too."

"I had an in-person tour of Wesley on Grand. It's hard to find anything you don't like about the place. It has a very nice structure and was recently remodeled. It's a Tudor-style setting. They also had a nice, heated pool area. My mom likes to swim, so knowing that was important. It had exercise equipment and ramps. They had different kinds of treadmills and bicycles. The grounds are quite stunning. They had a lot of nice restaurants. The staff we met was very nice. The facility was very clean, and it smelled fresh. They had nice rooms. They do a lot with theater and music groups. They have a fountain in front with a large seating area. It just looks very dignified. The people seemed to be very responsive and happy. It's also expensive. They even have a bar and a pub. They have rooms for family members that you can rent on-site."

"My parents will move into Bishop Drumm Retirement Center. The apartment building that they're moving into is not ready yet. It was a faith-based decision. We have dealt directly with one staff member, she's apparently in-charge of bringing in people, and she was amazing. The room has got nice, big windows, very bright, it's a lot smaller than what they have been used to, but that's to be expected. They have a maintenance staff who will spruce things up, and whatever they want to do in terms of putting things on the wall, mounting a television, they can do any of that. The staff will add additional outlets if they need them, so they're very accommodating."

"After my life altering accident, the cnas, nurses and staff were caring and have put me on a great road to recovery. They created a comfortable, healing environment & helped me set up my room and electronics to feel as close to home as possible. Thank you all so much! This place has an outstanding therapy dept. They have given me the most wonderful gift of teaching me to walk again! Thank you everyone!"

"Mom is in Fleur Heights Center For Wellness and Rehab. The people there had been pleasant, and mom is getting the attention that she needs. Mom is sharing a room with another resident. They have bingo. They watch movies. They have a creative director, and mom is interested in art so she enjoys doing that. "

"A very nice place it was clean and attractive. The staff were friendly. The residents were enjoying a music program. "

"The staff at University Park seemed very nice. The people who live there had a very good relationship, were very friendly, and seemed to know one another. It’s all suites since it used to be a hotel. The rooms were all of the same size and shape. It’s kind of small for the price, but I have visited others that were way more expensive. They offer three meals a day. "

"My dad has Alzheimer and they have moved him six times since his stay less than six months. And Dixie the coordinator never returns any of the family calls "
