My husband is in Desert Haven Adult Care Home I and it is be working really well for him. This was the only one we toured, and we agreed that it was the best suited for him. I like this place. The woman who's running it is very nice and very helpful. They seem to be very clean. He is getting taken care of. The staff has been really good. They've been seeing that he's clean and bathed and getting his meals on time and his medications. The meals that I have seen have been really good and hot. He asked for special cereal, and we bought it and brought it to him, and they're making sure that he gets that every day. The hot meal at lunchtime looked good, and he said that he's eating it. When I spoke to him yesterday, he seemed well. He seemed like he was fitting in and more comfortable. He's bedfast right now, so he's in a room with another gentleman that's in the same situation as he is, as far as care. They have a common area with a big screen TV and recliners, and people who can get around in wheelchairs are wheeling themselves around. They have a dining room where if you can sit up and eat, you can sit at the table. They have an open kitchen and people working in the kitchen, and everybody is talking and laughing, and it has a good atmosphere. He's not able to get out of bed. They're going to start working on that and getting him, maybe, into a wheelchair if he can be more comfortable. It's really nice and very clean. Everybody there seems to be taking real good care of themselves, and people who can get up and around are interacting. It's just like a private home. Right now, they have my husband under hospice care, and they have a nurse that's coming in, but they're starting to set up a companion for him that can come in and visit with him at least once a week, someone who has the same interests as him. As soon as they can get him up into a chair, he can go into the common area and be with the other residents.

Desert Haven Adult Care Home is a home structure, it's a house with multiple rooms in it, a large kitchen area, a large living common area, lovely landscaping around the house, very homey, and just very warm and comforting. It is not a building that you can call a community inside but I'm sure it is a senior community because they have 8 to 9 residents in this home. It is a freestanding house, set within an urban setting, like other homes just like it, but it has multiple residents rather than just a family. The staff is capable and caring. The residents are given 3 meals that are in-house, home-cooked, I guess you can call them home-cooked meals. I was there the other day with my father and there was a gal there in the oven cooking up this wonderful dish of eggs and stuff, so it looked delicious. They have great landscaping for relaxation. They have TVs in every room for the guests to sort of just disappear into television. Great rooms where they can commune with each other.
