The Best Assisted Living Communities in Yuma County, AZ

"Emerald Springs was a nice facility. It was much larger than where my father is. It was very beautiful. The yard and the grounds were very nice. However, the food and the meal service was nowhere as nice compared to where he is. It's much more expensive, but they have more activities, and more places where the residents can get together and do crafts. From an activities standpoint, they're better, but from a meal standpoint, they're nowhere near as good. The staff was nice. I didn't have any problem with them at all. We saw a 1-bedroom and it was OK. The common areas were quite nice. They have a lot of small meeting rooms where they do crafts and puzzles. It was set up quite nicely. It was just way too expensive for our budget and we were not impressed with the food situation at all."

"It was a wonderful facility. It had big grounds and you could walk around in different buildings that had different apartments. I saw their kitchen and the laundry. Overall, it seemed like a very nice place. The staff was very knowledgeable, knew everything, and they answered all my questions. It was a great experience. I saw a studio room that had a kitchenette, a microwave, and a bathroom with safety bars installed. Everything seemed to be clean."

"My mom is currently at River's Edge Assisted Living. It's very good. I recommend it. It's a lot more reasonable than other places. The staff is very good there. They take good care of her as far as I've seen. I'd recommend it for anybody that has a certain lower budget to fit in. Other places I was looking at were almost double compared to her place. They've done everything that I've asked them to do and they maintain my mom's health by trying to check on her about every two hours to see how she is doing. They have a nurse that's there eight hours a day. They were able to bring in hospice for us and sit down and we went through all that. They have a doctor through hospice. You don't have to go looking and searching for all this information. They were able to get it and got a social worker for my mom, too. The food is not the best, but the care is good. It's very clean, nice, and updated. It was a hotel before they converted it to an assisted living there, but everything is new inside the room. The rooms are small, but bathrooms are a good size. They have wheelchair capability with the shower on one level, you do not have to step in or step out. You can roll right in with a wheelchair and scooch onto a shower chair. They have activities, but they're limited right now due to the coronavirus. They've never had the virus there. Every place here in Yuma other than this one, I've heard, has had the virus in their location, even the high-end ones."

"BeeHive Homes of Yuma is different from most of the facilities I visited because it's smaller. Their food is nice, down-to-earth, and nothing fancy, but it's very good. The place is very clean. They have private rooms with half-baths and assistance for showers and everything. They keep the place spotless and homey-feeling. For activities, they have holiday celebrations and birthday celebrations. They've got my mother to play bingo, which I never thought I'd see. There are only 11 people that live there, so you have a better one-on-one relationship with the caregivers. They're more attentive and everything. They're very friendly and very helpful, too. It's a nice experience when you go in there. It's a little expensive but I think it's better than the larger facilities. You pay just about the same for the larger facilities, but you don't get the care, so I'd say you get higher value for your money there."

"I am very pleased with the care my husband received during the 3 weeks he was in rehab after complications from heart surgery. Every question, concern and request was met with respectful listening and real results. I give it 4 stars only because the doctor on staff seems to be something of an invisible force but I suppose that is par for a Nursing Home. The facility is older but clean and being systematically upgraded. Food is decent too. The time of admittance was during the summer, the "slower" season for Yuma. "

"My mother stayed at Maxi's Loving Place. It's a very nice place. I wanted her to go back there, but she chose another place. It's a home and they only take six patients. I liked it. I liked the people there and everything, but for whatever reason, when my mother got out of the hospital the second time, she wanted to go to another place, so that's where I put her. They're very nice there. The rooms were very clean and bright. They had somebody there 24 hours a day. The woman who runs it, Maxi, was a very, very nice woman. I would recommend it to anybody. My mother was there for not even a month and she had to go back to the hospital. The staff was all very nice. They take very good care of them. Maxi, who owns it, is there during the day then she has two women that come in at night to help the residents with whatever they need. The place was spotless. They have a family room there where they can watch TV, do games, and things like that. They have a fenced-in back porch where if they want to go outside and sit or read or whatever they want, they can go out there."
