"We toured the Cascades of Tucson. Everything that we looked at was nice, and they had absolutely wonderful views of the mountains, and it just felt very comfortable. The person that took us on a tour, we're very satisfied with her. The facility was very nice. It had a library and a gym, just like most places. They also had a pool and hot tub. The view was beautiful. The upkeep from what I saw was excellent. It was very nicely landscaped. The room sizes are very adequate."

"I have chosen Woodland Palms Memory Care for my husband. Everything that I saw was clean. There were still some residents in the dining area still having lunch, so naturally, there's going to be still food on the table and stuff like that, but overall, it was very clean. They showed me the private rooms and I could even take his old furniture in and everything. I was pleased with that. I interacted mostly with Meredith, who took me on the tour. She was very informative. She answered all the questions that I had about the facility. She was very knowledgeable. I met a staffer, and I have also met with the lady who is in charge of the total facility and she was very informative. She told me about how she could assist me in the process of actually getting him placed possibly before all the paperwork is finished."

"Park Senior Villas - Houghton had kind of a villa-looking thing and then you go inside the building and they had individual rooms. They had double rooms if you wanted a roommate. They had some activities. I didn't see as much going on or see the people running around as I did at the other place, but it was very nicely kept up. The people were nice. A few days later, I came back, I even told them that I had decided on the other place. They still said, "Come and get that desk." They got the desk out and told me where is the closest was to get it. They're very nice there. The place was clean. I checked out both assisted living, plus memory care. Based on how clean they were and how nice I thought it was, it's a five. I liked the layout. I thought it was convenient. They have a little closed-in patio area. It's all on one level. One gentleman was sitting out there when we were there. When I went back and picked up the desk, I saw more people. It could have been the time of day and maybe people were in activities when I was there visiting. I saw their little cafeteria area for that building and mom can have her cat there. The staff I saw was very nice and very obliging because when I came and got the desk, one girl helped me bring it out to my car. She was very polite and very nice."

"My mother is in Avista Tucson. They said she stopped yelling at people and she's eating better. Right now she's in assisted living level three. Everybody there is so polite and so helpful. I had some things I couldn't get together, they put them together for me. They go out of their way to help you with your parent. I like their attitude. There are so many activities for her to do if she ever leaves her room, but if she doesn't, they bring her meals. She's just happy, I guess, now because they said she's eating more when she was barely eating. After the first week, she stopped yelling at people who would come into her room because they checked on her every two hours. She could have her cat there, but she didn't think it was hers, so I had to take the cat back home. They have a little gambling area. They can play cards. They have a little slot machine. They have a little movie theater with big recliners you can sit in. They have their little restaurant or cafeteria where everybody can go to eat if they choose to. They had singers one day I was there with my mom when I brought her there. They have karaoke. They have all kinds of different things and they're always trying to get you involved. Even though you don't want to go, they still come and ask to see if you want to. They encourage you to get out and be more social. If you want to go outside, you can go outside. Other people I've seen go outside. She has a studio apartment. They pretty much have the freedom to do what they want. Memory care has a locked door because people forget, but they still come out and do the activities. They get them together as a group, take them out, and let them be involved in the activities. She is eating more and she's very picky. I've seen the food and it looks nice. The first day she got there, they brought her a plate and I said she loves ham sandwiches, so they gave her a ham sandwich. They had a Boston cream pie. She ate it because she loves Boston cream pie and it's been ages since she's had one and they said, "OK, if we ever have Boston cream pie, we'll make sure we get it on her plate so that she gets it for her meals." They're very accommodating. They're all very friendly and knowledgeable. It was reasonable for everything you were getting. It's not that big of a jump if she needs memory care. They have an onsite doctor. I've seen them making repairs. All the time somebody is working on stuff, so they keep that place up. They're working on the floor and that's important, you don't want people falling. I saw the residents running around. I saw the guys that were in charge. The guy in charge of all the maintenance people set up my mom's TV for us and got one of his guys to put her bookcase together for us."

"I toured The Hacienda at the River. The atmosphere, it's beautiful. The staff was good. The person who I worked with listened to me and everything I had to say, and she answered all my questions really well. It was just a pleasant experience. Each area has a kitchen and it was like going to a hotel. It's very clean and it's nicely decorated. There's a garden, and it's like going on vacation."

"Brookdale Tanque Verde was excellent. I was very impressed with the person that I talked with and the facility. It was clean. It didn't have a bad smell. They have a lot of activities for people and an interesting varied menu for them. I thought it was great for somebody with significant dementia. The staff seemed very good and caring. I saw them talking to some of the residents. The room seemed nice, and they had nice showers with handles and stuff to help elderly folks. It seemed like they had several activities for the people. The atmosphere seemed excellent to me."

"The units were beautiful with a lot of natural light, in fact, they were the best we've seen. We had lunch in the dining room. The food was excellent. We did notice a lot of interesting conversations going on around us. Everyone seemed to enjoy being there. There's a great vibe. The common areas were very nice. I specifically noticed the furnishings. In the common areas appeared to be very new, even though the facility itself isn't, but it is kept up extremely well. Also, with a lot of high ceilings and large windows, which you don't often find in assisted living facilities. We spoke with several of the employees they were all pleasant and all seemed to enjoy being there. They were able to answer any question that we asked our tour guide. Vicki, it was really great. She was very patient with us and answered all of our questions, and we give this whole experience. an A++!"

"Arroyo Gardens was nice. It was confusing though. It was really big. It's easy to get lost. The staff was very pleasant. The rooms were just like the others, size-wise, and they were nice. I saw the menu and it looked really good. The atmosphere was very comfortable. Everybody was nice. I didn't see any activities, but I know they have a movie room and an area where they had puzzles they were putting together. There were lots of different things. They had a piano. It just wouldn't be easy for someone that's going to need memory care to remember which way to turn. They had a beauty shop. It was very pretty."

"My mother-in-law is on the memory care side of The Villas at Green Valley. It is beautiful. We love it. It is a very wonderful place. The staff has been wonderful to her. The dining area is absolutely beautiful; it is like a great room. They cook right there and residents can see them cooking. It is a beautiful place. They have a television, sofas, and tables there. It is also clean. My mother-in-law does zumba and listens to music, they have dominoes and bingo, and there is also a day that you can bring your pet in for visits. They also watch movies with popcorn. The staff members are all kind; my mother-in-law loves all of them."

"San Judas Adult Care Home has very nice people. It's a private home with only 10 residents at a time. There are 2 caregivers 24/7 plus the owner, and she runs all the medical stuff. It's a very nice place and very well kept. Out of all the places I've seen in Tucson, it's by far the best. It's more personal because there's not a whole lot of people. "

"My mom will be moving into The Villas at Wilmot. They are small little casitas with eight people in each casita and two caretakers per unit. They're small and quaint. They have a happy dog that's friendly. It's just perfect for my mom. My mom's got a room with a closet and a community bathroom. It's got a big shower and a little seat. It's just enough for my mom. When you walk in, the first thing you see is the kitchen and a great big island. The people are greeting you. They're friendly and welcoming. And then you see one big dining room table that seats eight. Everybody sits at the dining room table to eat; unless you don't want to get up on your bed, then they will serve it to you in your room. There's a big family room where there's couches, chairs, a great big TV, and an activity area. There's a back patio. To the left, there are four rooms, and to the right, there are four rooms. We actually walked in during dinner, and I got a chance to look at what they were serving. It's what you would cook at home. The staff was an angel sent from God above and was amazing. They've got fruit trees, like peace trees, lime trees, lemon trees, orange trees, and apple trees. The residents come out and eat right off the tree. It's just amazing. The way they have it all laid out is so peaceful and really nice."

"My brother spent the last month of his life at Plum Tree House (one of the Groves 6 houses), and for all of our family, it was by far the most positive experience of the last 6 months of his illness. The staff was so kind and went out of their way to make both my brother and I feel welcome and cared for, right from the first day. The environment is very cozy and home-like, and Dave felt comfortable right away ~ which certainly isn't something I can say about other places he's been. I would most definitely recommend the Groves to anyone. Thanks so much, all of you, who were there for Dave on his final Journey. You guys are the best!"
