"I am currently at Santa Rosa nursing home...yea nothing is perfect I don't know one facility that is...Staff trys thr best here but thrs also patients here with thousands of problems physically and mentally....I personally don't report people cuz wats it going to do make a bigger mess with so n so said this n that....I personally don't have a reason to be upset with the workers here but I personally think if you have a issue with one CNA ask for another one or a nurse.They r still humans to NO ONE IS PERFECT workers basically go through wat us residents do bcuz they take care of us.So instead of complaining about certain things then maybe the complainers need to take care of thr own family members them selves or try to do something besides talking crap... Thank you.. N yes I'm a coherent resident here ..."

"My mother was here for rehabilitation after breaking her hip in late 2024. She was in this facility from Chrictmas eve through the end of January 2025. The facility looks to have been built in the late 1950's and it shows its age here and there but it is well maintained, it didn't smell like a nursing facility (I can't say that for some other places I visited), most of the staff was really good (of course there were a couple there just to get a check). They diligently worked to get her better and back to us. One interesting thing was I was walking the hallways to leave the facility one weekday evening and I ran into an elderly man walking too and we struck up a conversation. Turns out he is one of the owners and after talking to him and the staff after our encounter I found out that he is out almost every week from Chicago & spends about half the week onsite staying current with how things are going from the residents. I was skeptical at first look (especially after being in a different facility of approximatly the same age) But I couldn't have been happier with the outcome. These are good people that care. "My wife was in rehab with these wonderful women caregivers who truly love to help these poor elderly and handicap men and women to get better and my wife is moving around better because of the Pueblo springs rehab center yes the place is clean "

"I recently got discharged from Sabino Canyon. When I arrived I couldn't walk couldn't talk had absolute no use of my left arm whatsoever from being mauled by a vicious dog. I was so impressed with the pair the love that compassion the kindness the unity of all the employees. But most of all the dedication that was shown to me and the uplifting happy positive energy I received from housekeeping all the way up to the administrator. The doctors and surgeons informed me that I would probably be there for about 3 months doing physical therapy before I would even be close to being able to walk or use my arm. I was there two weeks and I walked out using a cane talking just fine and having the knowledge of body mechanics that they taught me that I will use the rest of my life. I went from 0 use of my arm to 50% use of my arm thank you Sabino Canyon. In conclusion I accumulated a wonderful little family there with other residents as other residents families and employees. Nurse CLIFF, Cna-Yvonne, Occupational Therapist Marsha thank you all for believing in me when I didn't believe in myself. The positive uplifting happy energy there was my medicine thank you Canyon I will never forget any of you and thank you Ernesto from the kitchen for your kindness and compassion and respect."

"My mother was a resident of this retirement home for five or more years. I would go there several times a week to visit her and to work in her "garden." The staff is very pleasant to both the residents as well as to their relatives. In fact once a year there is a BBQ held for the residents and their families. It is truly a special time and definitely was marked on my calendar way in advance because I could go around and talk with the families of my mother's friends all withing the same day. There were songs to be sung while banjos and fiddles were being picked. It was and still is a very festive time. There is so much to do at MerryWood and my mother was always involved "going and doing" with many of the other folks who lived there. At times, I think, she was busier than I was and I had three children to raise and keep up with. Just to name a few of the many activities that my mother enjoyed were; a mission group, this is where group comprised both of men and women would get together and roll bandages for the people with Leprocsy or would fix goodie bags or sandwiches for a local church mission or soup kitchens around Charlotte. There is an exercise group that meets two or three times a week to "workout." (Of course, the YWCA is right next door and MerryWood residents receive a special rate.) There is a group that will put puzzles together, a book club, and a couple of bible study groups. Church services for all denominations on Sundays mornings and evenings. Of course, there are nights that people gather around to play games like, One Eye Jack or Bingo. There are good prizes to be had if you should have the winning card. There are bridge clubs and there is a pool table on the third floor for the men to gather and play until their hearts are content. Mother had a garden which I tended to. Even my children at the time enjoyed planting vegetables and the dahlias we would gather from the garden would put into vases to sit on the tables in the dining area. Let me tell you about the food. Now you couldn't find a more varied menu than what they had at MerryWood. One night it would be a Mexican theme and the next would be a French theme of course the meal followed the theme of the day. The one day that was your special day, like a birthday or an anniversary, the staff made you feel very special and my mother said she felt like a "Queen for the Day." Even the chef had his own herb and vegetables which he cooked and shared with the residents. The residents enjoy the special entertainment that will visit every month. I believe most weekends there is some singing or tap dancing group that comes to entertain. If there isn't a special group the residents will have "a movie night on their huge flat screen TV, I really mean big it is probably the largest TV made. It really feels like you are at the movies. Of course, there is popcorn and drinks available for all who come. Let's not forget the twice a week ice cream socials everyone and his brother will show up for. MerryWood is still a great place. I go back now and again just to visit with some of Mom's friends. She is not with us anymore for she passed away a couple of years ago. But she always commented that she wished she had gone to MarryWood about five years earlier than what she did. It is a wonderful place and I am so glad that she was able to spend her last years enjoying herself and others there at MerryWood. Isn't this what we want for all of our parents? "

"Room was a nice size and well-worn, somewhat like a motel room that has been well-used. There was no reading light for my wife at her bed. One was torn off the wall, the other did not work. Staff such as nurses, nutritionist, PT, OT did a very good job and were caring and professional. The management was neither. The head "case manager" was not at all patient oriented, and not interested in the least in involving family in the decision-making process. The social worker was for the most part invisible. Surprisingly the food in the dining room was better than most corporate chain restaurants such as Olive Garden and Cracker Barrel. The selection for patients was very nice and the quality of food provided in the patient's rooms was very good in our experience. The dining room is a very comfortable place to eat with your patient. Do not expect an individual program plan to be provided to patient or family members or any transparency on the part of management. The true professionals such as PT and OT do very well in that regard and communicate regularly with patient and family. Kudos to them."

"My mom stayed at the Avalon (shadow Mountain) facility in Scottsdale, and the staff was very helpful. The nurses were great. The facility was clean and pleasant. A good experience after she broke her hip. "

"mostly pleasant . somewhat cramped if long term. staff very pleasant and very accommodating . a variety of activities, depending on your ability and willingness to participate. wonderful , well prepared meals. like home cooking. pleasant patio shaded. my son was a resident here for 2 weeks. the care was excellent. nursing staff pleasant. house keeping and all other support staff, very efficient. "I am staying in Sandstone of Tucson, and I like the accommodations here. I don't care for the food, though. It's unimaginative. The staff members are good. I partake in activities like bingo, and now and then we have a field trip, but I don't get enough exercise. There's not much in the way of activities. The facility is plenty clean. They do a good job with it."

"I am the daughter of a past resident. My mother has spent approx. 6 months, off and on, at Mountain View. In that time she has been from acute care, MRSA care, post surgical, dementia care to going home. She loved Mountain View. The last time she had surgery she made me call two weeks before the surgery to have them save a bed for her! Really!, who does that? The rooms are fairly plain and rather typical of nursing home rooms, but there is room for one to decorate and make it your own. The staff is what makes this facility so wonderful. The nurses, Dr.s, cleaning staff, kitchen staff, laundry staff etc. They all care. Really care. The last time my mother was there, when she arrived nurses and other staff heard she was there and ran to give hugs and welcome her. New staff were dragged in too, to introduce them to her. All this was done not by us but by the staff that knew her. Staff that remembered her from 2 years ago. My mother was never really able to enjoy the activities that were available as she was bed ridden most of the time. How ever the PT/ OT group kept her stamina up and made sure she was ready to go home when she was supposed to. My mother has since passed away but I will always be thankful to the staff at Mountain View for making her part of the family."
