"Mom is in Handmaker Home for the Aging right now. She’s been there about 5 days. It’s a Jewish facility; it’s very nice and very clean. It has good care and they do rehab which is why she is there. The staff is excellent and very responsive. It’s a single room and they share a bathroom with one other individual who’s nearby. They have a small dining room for the residents. It’s off a courtyard so it’s very pretty. They have religious services if people are inclined. It has bingo and a book cart; they do field trips for the long term residents. "

They offer one dinner meal a day with a variety of food. They also give out food boxes. They are operated by volunteers and donations from the communities. They have an affordable membership package as little as $25 a year. if you choose to become a member for more benefits or a volunteer. Among volunteers are professionals from around the state. Because of their widespread members, they are able to offer a large variety of resources for seniors free of charge. They have an RN on staff. Among the resources available are home care agencies,referrals for various assisted and senior living, and convalescent centers to best fit the needs. They have counseling services, physical therapists, financial assistance referrals, assistance for obtaining various medical and prescriptions,and many others. They also assist with continuing education, job placement, spiritual needs, and many other classes for seniors. They do transport and offer recreational activities as bingo, senior dances, arts and crafts, yoga, and water aerobics. They do planned events from various seminars to trips and outings to community and state functions. This is definitely a great resource to check out. "

They have nurses on staff and they have a lot of employees who sit one-on-one with the seniors if they need assistance with their card games or dominoes, or help with their food. They have a large open area and then a large nursing station where you can see everyone in the area. They have small rooms if you want to have some quiet time to read. Their dining room is like a restaurant. "
