"We have just moved into the Cascades of Tucson. So far, it is excellent. If we need greater assistance, it is right here. One of the big pluses is that we didn't have to move to a different location. It is very centrally located. All the staff members that I have met have been more than friendly, more than accommodating, and all wanted to go out of their way to help. The apartments are not gigantic, but still quite spacious which is a plus too. The cost goes in with the rest of the facilities. It is not cheap, but you get what you pay for. We just got here and we have not been to any activities yet. Yesterday was our first day that we got off quarantine, so we were able to use the dining room. The dining room is large. I would not say food is 5 star, but it is very good., It is sufficient in quantity so that is good. The staff members are just fantastic. The facility seems to be well maintained."

"I have visited my grandmother multiple times at Fairwinds - Desert Point in Tucson, Arizona. It is quite a drive from her original house and sits fairly alone in an undeveloped area. There is plenty of parking for visitors as well. Once inside the building that my grandmother resides in, I was impressed. There is a huge dining room where my grandmother hangs out with the friends she has made. There is also a bar area to watch sports or the news where I had a delicious panini that was reasonably priced. The residents are given a meal card that they withdraw funds from for activities and meals in the dining area at a discounted rate. My grandmother's room was down a very long, very narrow hallway that did not have railing for assistance. The room was nicely sized and my grandmother would complain, "It was still way too much room for just her." For example, her living room had enough space for 3 chairs and a large entertainment center containing her television. Her patio led straight to a nicely landscaped courtyard that got just enough shade for being in the Arizona heat. Overall the residents seemed very happy. My only sad experience was when a family member and I were playing pool and watching a football game on the television upstairs. A resident came in bewildered by the fact that we were in the room since she used it for her personal television room at that time, despite the fact that an unused entertainment area was in the next room. It was awkward and very sad. The staff did not seem overly pushy or micromanaging, which I think is a good thing. I would recommend Fairwinds - Desert Point. "

"I toured All Seasons Oro Valley. They were rude, snotty, and a complete turn-off. The room size was adequate. The place looked fine, clean, and uncluttered."

"We live in a facility now called Splendido. It is a first rate CCRC. We are very happy here except that she has very difficult food allergies that she has to manage. We were having some difficulties between them providing meals and providing the wrong things with her food allergies. They have two segments, one we affectionately call the Big House. That is where all the activities take place, and there are several hundred apartments there. They are split between the apartments in the main building which we call the Big House. There are villas which surround the main building, and then there is the assisted living which is part of the whole complex. The assisted living includes everything from temporary care after surgery to where you can't remember to take your pills, or if you can't remember anything then you're in the memory unit. I'm in the independent living. This place is unique because I don't know if you can replicate it in the country. Our members are organized from the very beginning with what they call a college course program. It is taught by the residents. Our people teach these courses. They are taught by us and independently planned by us. My wife has terrible asthma, and we are better when we lived in a desert community. I think this is the premier location as far as facilities go. Our villa is 1800 square feet, and they go up to 3000. If there is any place more than that, I don't know where it is. We just did a complete study thinking that we could get something different, and we couldn't find anything that would improve this. "

"We moved to Mountain View for seven months. We loved it. It’s lovely, and I can’t say it was elaborate, but it was very nice. Everything is taken care of just like a lot of retirement homes are around here. It’s a lovely place. The staff was fine. We can go in and talk to the general manager any time we wanted to. Doors were opened. The food was surprisingly good. People were very good. "

"Amber Lights is a retirement community, and it is a very nice one. They have wonderful staff, and that is the best thing of it all. They are very good. The apartments are small, but they have a good housekeeping staff. They make everything in order for us. All of them have balconies and pretty grounds. It is nice. The dining room is huge. It is quiet and formal. It has chandeliers and things. That is probably the best feature that they are most proud of. The food is good. The services can be slow, but that is the only complaint I have. They have theater, movies, happy hour where they bring in live entertainment, exercise classes, and weight rooms. They have a very good reputation in the area. "

"The Fountains at La Cholla was a beautiful facility. We liked that everyone there seemed very happy. Meals and housekeeping were included. It's kind of like a daily check-in, so it gives us a lot of peace of mind. They had well-kept grounds and the places to sit looked comfortable. It's very roomy and everything was laid out well. The staff during the tour was very kind, thoughtful, and helpful. The food smelled and looked good. The dining looked great, very accessible, and welcoming. Everything was in good condition and functional. They had swimming, miniature golf, a library, movies, crafts, and bible studies."

"My 96 year old father has gone to The Hacienda at the River twice for respite care. The first time he spent 6 weeks there while he was recovering from a broken leg (he was hit by a golf cart on the course!). Because he could not navigate crutches he was unable to fend for himself at home alone. He went to Hacienda where they not only fed him but also helped him with bathing and dressing. He really enjoyed his stay. He loved the food and activities including the equine programs even though he isn’t a “horse person”. The second stay was while he was recovering from a fractured pelvis. My brother and I are very happy he got the care and attention he needed both times. He still raves about the Nayas (what they call the caregivers)!"

"I've been in Carefree Village Estates. It looked very friendly online. The staff member that I worked with is fantastic. They've assisted me with trying to get into the place and worked really hard with me as far as finances. The whole moving experience was made easier by them. They've gone out of their way for me and really, really helped me out. They're not serving food, but they have activities here. There's arts and crafts, a pool, and a billiards rooms. There are some fun activities. They try and get people involved. It's a really good experience. The whole property is very well kept and really, really nice. I have a beautiful home for $1,150, which is huge, with washer-dryer hookups. It's a two-bedroom. It's really, really nice."

"We are residents of Del Webb at Dove Mountain. It's a single-family home. It's all independent living. We've got activity rooms, a library, and a huge heated saltwater pool. We have a tennis court and pickleball. There are very vigorous activities, programs, and all kinds of things around the gym. I love the community director."

Club House, active Activities Board, daily coffee and newspaper, fenced heated pool and hot tub, well-kept secure grounds, dog park, garbage pickup at the door twice a week, two potlucks a month, monthly Koffee Klutch, flat enough to easily walk, native plants and wildlife, plenty of parking, convenient location, inexpensive."

"I have lived at Hacienda at the Canyon for 3 years. This home offers me peace of mind, an incredibly warm social life, fantastic food and more activities than I can possibly partake in. The additional benefit of on-site health care wasn't something I thought I would need but life being what it is, I did need it and got superior and immediate care. There is a welcoming, inclusive and supportive culture here. I would live anywhere else at this time of life. "

"It's a wonderful place to recover. The bathroom is close to the bedrooms and nursing staff are more than willing to help you to and from your room. The food is delicious and plentiful. The staff is friendly and helpful, kind and caring. "
