"We toured the Cascades of Tucson. Everything that we looked at was nice, and they had absolutely wonderful views of the mountains, and it just felt very comfortable. The person that took us on a tour, we're very satisfied with her. The facility was very nice. It had a library and a gym, just like most places. They also had a pool and hot tub. The view was beautiful. The upkeep from what I saw was excellent. It was very nicely landscaped. The room sizes are very adequate."

"My mother is in Avista Tucson. They said she stopped yelling at people and she's eating better. Right now she's in assisted living level three. Everybody there is so polite and so helpful. I had some things I couldn't get together, they put them together for me. They go out of their way to help you with your parent. I like their attitude. There are so many activities for her to do if she ever leaves her room, but if she doesn't, they bring her meals. She's just happy, I guess, now because they said she's eating more when she was barely eating. After the first week, she stopped yelling at people who would come into her room because they checked on her every two hours. She could have her cat there, but she didn't think it was hers, so I had to take the cat back home. They have a little gambling area. They can play cards. They have a little slot machine. They have a little movie theater with big recliners you can sit in. They have their little restaurant or cafeteria where everybody can go to eat if they choose to. They had singers one day I was there with my mom when I brought her there. They have karaoke. They have all kinds of different things and they're always trying to get you involved. Even though you don't want to go, they still come and ask to see if you want to. They encourage you to get out and be more social. If you want to go outside, you can go outside. Other people I've seen go outside. She has a studio apartment. They pretty much have the freedom to do what they want. Memory care has a locked door because people forget, but they still come out and do the activities. They get them together as a group, take them out, and let them be involved in the activities. She is eating more and she's very picky. I've seen the food and it looks nice. The first day she got there, they brought her a plate and I said she loves ham sandwiches, so they gave her a ham sandwich. They had a Boston cream pie. She ate it because she loves Boston cream pie and it's been ages since she's had one and they said, "OK, if we ever have Boston cream pie, we'll make sure we get it on her plate so that she gets it for her meals." They're very accommodating. They're all very friendly and knowledgeable. It was reasonable for everything you were getting. It's not that big of a jump if she needs memory care. They have an onsite doctor. I've seen them making repairs. All the time somebody is working on stuff, so they keep that place up. They're working on the floor and that's important, you don't want people falling. I saw the residents running around. I saw the guys that were in charge. The guy in charge of all the maintenance people set up my mom's TV for us and got one of his guys to put her bookcase together for us."

"I toured The Hacienda at the River. The atmosphere, it's beautiful. The staff was good. The person who I worked with listened to me and everything I had to say, and she answered all my questions really well. It was just a pleasant experience. Each area has a kitchen and it was like going to a hotel. It's very clean and it's nicely decorated. There's a garden, and it's like going on vacation."

"Park Senior Villas - Houghton had kind of a villa-looking thing and then you go inside the building and they had individual rooms. They had double rooms if you wanted a roommate. They had some activities. I didn't see as much going on or see the people running around as I did at the other place, but it was very nicely kept up. The people were nice. A few days later, I came back, I even told them that I had decided on the other place. They still said, "Come and get that desk." They got the desk out and told me where is the closest was to get it. They're very nice there. The place was clean. I checked out both assisted living, plus memory care. Based on how clean they were and how nice I thought it was, it's a five. I liked the layout. I thought it was convenient. They have a little closed-in patio area. It's all on one level. One gentleman was sitting out there when we were there. When I went back and picked up the desk, I saw more people. It could have been the time of day and maybe people were in activities when I was there visiting. I saw their little cafeteria area for that building and mom can have her cat there. The staff I saw was very nice and very obliging because when I came and got the desk, one girl helped me bring it out to my car. She was very polite and very nice."

"My dad moved to Inspirations of River Centre. They were extremely responsive to my questions and needs. The people are competent and nice. The facilities are very clean. I like that it's one story, so there's no elevators or stairs. It's been a very positive experience. I like the layout a lot because it's on one floor and it's just a big loop with an outdoor courtyard in the middle. I haven't tried the food, but my dad so far says it's quite good. So he's happy. It was less expensive than some of the other options, and I liked it better."

"The units were beautiful with a lot of natural light, in fact, they were the best we've seen. We had lunch in the dining room. The food was excellent. We did notice a lot of interesting conversations going on around us. Everyone seemed to enjoy being there. There's a great vibe. The common areas were very nice. I specifically noticed the furnishings. In the common areas appeared to be very new, even though the facility itself isn't, but it is kept up extremely well. Also, with a lot of high ceilings and large windows, which you don't often find in assisted living facilities. We spoke with several of the employees they were all pleasant and all seemed to enjoy being there. They were able to answer any question that we asked our tour guide. Vicki, it was really great. She was very patient with us and answered all of our questions, and we give this whole experience. an A++!"

"The Ranch Estates of Tucson was a great facility. It was very clean. The person who took me on the tour was very knowledgeable. She introduced me to quite a few staff. She introduced me to the nurse who was in charge of the memory care unit. She was very nice. I got to see that particular unit and see how it's set up and everything. It was excellent. I had lunch with the lady who took me on the tour. The only drawback that I have about that facility is its way up north. It took me probably half an hour or more to get there. I wanted something kind of central to where we already live. The food was very good. She allowed me to choose from the menu that they had for that particular day at lunchtime. The cleanliness was great. Each area that I visited was very clean. They have a courtyard, which amazed me that residents will be allowed to go outside and sit up on the trees and that kind of thing."

"Oak Haven Assisted Living was wonderful. I just loved this place and my husband can hardly wait to move in. He will have his own room and they're going to allow him to bring a small refrigerator to put in his room so he could have his snacks in there. It's very homey and it has a very loving and warm feeling to it. The staff seemed very interested in learning about my husband and what he likes. They did in-depth questions about how best they can care for him and it made me feel confident that they care about him. I was there while other people were eating, and everybody looked happy."

"We're at The Country Club of La Cholla. They tell us we can stay here as long as we have caregivers and so we're going to stay here. This has been home now for five years. They're very friendly. It's very homey. There's no institutional feeling about it. The staff is very good to us. We have an enormous number of activities. If there's an activity that you'd like to do and it's not there, they say, "Go ahead and set it up." We have a huge list of activities every single week. The food is OK, but it's not the best. We have what we think is the best apartment they have. It's called the Ascott, and it's a two-bedroom and it's the largest one, outside of the casitas. We have a fitness center, a chapel, a hair salon, and fingernails and toenails can be done. We have a ballroom where we can dance. They have happy hour. We have music over and over again and they take us out to outings and all kinds of places. I couldn't ask for anything. Nobody wants to pay this much rent, but it's worth it."

"My friend was a resident of Family Loving Kare. Its run very much like a house that you would live in with a family member. There were 8 to 10 residents per house, it's a family-owned place. The staff is good, caring, and loving towards their residents. The grounds were nice, trimmed, and nicely kept. The house was always clean and good. It was a little old fashioned, but that fits the style of the place. There were two beds to a room since they were shared rooms, and it's nicely accommodated with everything that you would need. The house has been converted into a residential care house, so there are parts of the house that weren't really bedrooms and converted into bedrooms. Overall it's OK."

"My grandfather moved into Family Loving Kare S3. They do everything from bathing and showering to feeding. The staff members are wonderful, very attentive and on top of it. They're very family-oriented, so they're super nice to us, as well as my grandfather. It is a house, so the rooms are not ginormous. The main area is a lot bigger where they come together and eat. The living room is spacious. They can sit out there and visit. Everything is very well kept. The living atmosphere is very warm. They always decorate for every single holiday, which is fun. The facility owner lives right behind the facility, so she's always present. They try to make sure they have juice or water for them. They try to rotate the food to give them a variety. They have an outdoor sitting area where the residents can go out if they like. They can watch TV or read if they want."

"San Judas Adult Care Home has very nice people. It's a private home with only 10 residents at a time. There are 2 caregivers 24/7 plus the owner, and she runs all the medical stuff. It's a very nice place and very well kept. Out of all the places I've seen in Tucson, it's by far the best. It's more personal because there's not a whole lot of people. "
