"My parents have moved into Regency Newcastle. I chose it because it was close to me and I enjoyed the people that work there. I talked to a lot of them. My parents' room is large. We got a two-bedroom, two-bath. It's a beautiful room. All the employees there were very supportive. With my mom, it's been rough trying to switch her, and they've all been just great trying to help her through the big change. They have a therapy pool there with a physical therapist, and it would be really good for both of my parents. The dining area is absolutely beautiful, but it was shut down because of COVID. I only had a hamburger there and my parents have had nothing but sandwiches. There are a lot of activities, but again, it was shut down. We haven't had a chance to do any of those. I did love that they have a fireplace downstairs in the bistro that they could go down. There's water and coffee for them throughout the whole day. I loved the outdoors. There's seating for them with umbrellas over and they could go there and get outside and enjoy listening to the birds. There are walking trails close by. There's a beautiful park right across the street."

"I visited Patriots Glen, and the staff was very nice. The person who showed me around was wonderful. I really liked the front office gal and the community relations person. She was very helpful and kind. The rooms were fine. The parking area, which was right in front, was very convenient, with lots of spaces. They had activities, but I don't remember what they were. I don't believe that they would take my dad to church. Also, it seemed much more like a nursing home, and I didn't feel like it would fit my dad. "

"My mom ultimately picked Sunrise over others. She likes this place. Everything is great there. I think the staff is awesome. They really care about the people there. They're working very hard to get my mom back involved in doing things. I like them. They also have tons of activities for their residents. Their rooms are fine and very comfortable. "It was clean and the people were friendly. They can handle dementia patients. The exterior of the building was a little older but the inside was in good shape and painted. The rooms were adequate but you have to bring furniture in for the dementia patients. "

"We placed my father at the Village Concepts of Fairwood. My father liked the fact that it was on the golf course and a little bit on the newer side. The rooms were bigger. The staff is kind, courteous, and willing to help. The food is pretty good. They take them off-site weekly and to appointments."

"I toured their independent living section of The Watermark at Bellevue, and it's very nice and very high-end. As a matter of fact, up on the top floor, they have a penthouse there for $12,000 a month. The lower floors are cheaper. For people who like city life, it's like living in a big city where you have to pay for parking, and that's not my cup of tea. I want something more rural where I can drive in, drive out, and not have to pay for parking. I'm just more of a suburban type. It was very nice, though. I've been there twice, and their food was excellent. The facilities were very nice because they're new, so everything was perfect."

"Covenant shore is right on the water and a lot of our church people are there. It's a nice place, the staff is excellent but we are not ready yet though. The food is a lot better there than we have here. You have to go outside to go eat and that would be the only negative thing. "

"We went to The Bellettini. It feels like kind of a high-end hotel. It reminds me of when you go and you're checking into a high-end resort. I don't recall her name, but the staff is helpful in explaining to us the process and services available, different facilities, events, and things that are available to my mother at the location. We walked into two different restaurants. There's like a casual restaurant and then there's a fancy restaurant. We only walked through the restaurants, we didn't try any of the food. They have a rec room. They have a movie theater, and a library and they have a couple of different rec center areas. They had a space in the back for doing your own gardening and having your own garden box and stuff like that. They're by far the fanciest facility in the whole Bellevue area."

"My stepdad will be moving into Island House. We toured it three different times. Living in a place on Mercer Island is the first priority for him. It's just a lot more comfortable to me compared to the other place that we looked at. It just had the right feeling to it, and very nice people. We enjoyed going through it. The person who was leading us through the process died suddenly, which was a huge shock. So, part of my problem with this is that the person that we were dealing with before my stepdad decided to move is no longer there. What the situation was, is that we felt very comfortable with him, who is the sales director for the place. The things that we tried there on our tour were very well done. The facilities look nice. It's right in the middle of downtown Mercer Island, so it's very convenient and it's something that my stepdad already knows all about. It's comfortable surroundings, and that was important. We looked at three different apartments at three different times. We settled on the one that was closest to the elevator, which wasn't available initially when we first had the tour. So there are different sizes of apartments and in different locations in the building. Because my stepdad is using a walker, we wanted to make sure that he was in a place that was very convenient. The unit that he ended up selecting is just right off an elevator. They had big calendars full of activities that we looked at. They were offering exercise, which is good, and the meals were very nice. When we were there a couple of days ago, we knew that they had a men's outing once a week. That was something that might well appeal because my stepdad is not a very social person. My stepdad asked a friend who lives there who moved in with his wife what they thought of it. They didn't have strong opinions about it at first, but the last time we were there, they encouraged him that it would be a good idea for him to move there. My husband and I have been back there many times because we're helping get stuff ready for move-in, and the people have been very helpful and very responsive to our needs. We tried the food, and the meal was excellent. We were impressed with the food. In terms of the facility and the buildings, there are probably newer facilities, and there's no freight elevator. It felt like they had the right combination of plenty of things to offer, but not so much that you feel like you were overpaying for it."

"Redmond Heights was a beautiful facility in a beautiful location. They had games going on. It was an interactive facility where the clients had something to say as to what they wanted to do during the day. Everything was great. I found the scenery to be beautiful and eye opening. I found it to be a nice place that an elder person would want to be. The staff was very cordial and very open to any of my questions. They were almost like family there, and I really appreciated that. "
