"My father is moving in at Covenant Living at the Shores tomorrow. They have been wonderful. We have several family members and friends who have lived there for a few years. My dad is joining them, so we're happy. It's beautiful. It's on the lake. He is moving into a lakeview apartment with full care options, which is everything from assisted living to hospice. So, we're hoping this is the last move for him. His apartment is beautiful. They completely remodeled it with new carpet, new appliances, and new paint. The food is very good. My father is very excited to just be cooked for, so he doesn't have to cook himself. He said the food is very good, and that's what he's looking forward to most. They have a separate lodge with the dining room for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. They have a beautiful workout room with a view of the lake. They have music programs. They have committees. You can join a committee and have a voice in the activities and the community. I think there's over 300 residents, and there's always something going on all the time. They have a program that if you run out of funds, they will let you stay there. They have a scholarship program that you can stay there till the end of your life. You do pay upfront, but then you get a percentage back. It's expensive, but it's absolutely worth it. He can stay there indefinitely."

"Aljoya is a lovely community with many varied activities for residents, such as exercise classes, Current Event presentations, concerts, art classes, and more. It is within walking distance to Luther Burbank Park, as well as grocery stores, Starbucks and many restaurants. Our apartment is bright, the rooms are spacious, and the staff is very responsive and knowledgeable. We love not having to cook if we don't feel like it, and the food is good!"

"This is a friendly and talkative community of people from a cross section of cultures and interests. While you can remain in your apartment, it’s quite pleasant going down, sharing stories , and having a bite to eat. On most days, I take both exercise classes, moderate and high level. My other favorite activity is artistic creations where I discovered I can paint.."

"In March 2024, our Dad passed away, rather suddenly, in our parent’s home in Bellevue. Our Mom expressed a desire to move out rapidly, and we discussed the option of a premier senior living community. My Mom’s hope was that, during this acute period of grief, that she would not have to part with her two cats. “We will cross that bridge if we have to, she said.” I told her that our family would take care of the cats if necessary. These were searing, early conversations. I assumed responsibility for our parent’s estate and became personal representative for our mother. I live in Southern California, but I am fortunate to have two siblings who live in Washington State. We felt that time was of the essence for Mom, so we moved swiftly. My brother and his spouse began to look for a potential community. Based on referrals from a network of friends, their top choice to evaluate was the Gardens. After identifying a wonderful unit that was available, they called me. My brother’s first quote was, “this isn’t just a place to live, it is a community; the residents are friendly, and it feels like a warm environment.” They brought our mother to the Gardens, and she gave it a big thumbs up. We moved her in, and the cats settled in rapidly. During the past seven months, I have spent a great deal of time at the Gardens. I have enjoyed breakfasts, lunches and dinners in the dining room and have had extensive conversations with other residents. Given that there is an on-site continuum of care offering, should Mom’s needs evolve over time, I take solace that she is settled. More importantly, given my geographic distance from her, the thought that there is a caring and competent Gardens team looking out for her provides additional comfort. I think that our Dad would be pleased and would have wanted the best that we can do for Mom."

"I'm moving into the Bellettini. It was in the right location, in a city. I needed an urban setting. It seemed far above the others, although it was a lot more expensive. At the time that I signed up for it, the meal plan was better, but they've consequently changed their meal plan. It had air conditioning and it had a gas fireplace. The gas fireplace is what attracted me to it. Very efficient, very friendly staff, and they kept in contact with me at all times. I loved the food. They had a range of activities, which appealed to me. They have a gym, hair salon, and two different restaurants."

"Aegis Living Madison had absolutely stunning grounds. The building, the art, the different things around and such were very, very nice. They had a little movie theater and a lovely dining room. Anybody would enjoy living there. It was a beautiful facility. They have some lovely areas just to relax and chat or talk. I saw an interaction with someone who was leading a group in some kind of activity there. The food was very good, and the menu was impressive. The rooms that I was taken to see were very nice and beautifully done. One thing I was struck by was the beautiful art that they had on the walls, and it was really tastefully done with obvious care. For most people it's surprisingly expensive, but overall, it was an absolutely wonderful facility. The residents that I encountered seemed to be very comfortable and happy where they were. I saw someone with a couple of little dogs. I played the piano there. I had a fair amount of interaction with the guests and they seemed very clearly at home. It wasn't over the top either. It wasn't like everybody was all dressed up or anything. They were very casual."

"My tour of Patriots Glen Assisted Living & Memory Care was excellent. That was my preferred place, but we chose another place that was more convenient for the family. Nevertheless, they're wonderful. The units were very nice. They had one-bedroom apartments. They have full activity schedules with trips to the grocery store. They have all kinds of wonderful things."

"My mother has severe dementia, and Merrill Gardens at First Hill is able to accept both of my parents. They have a really nice balance, and it’s been going very well for my mother. It’s been amazing, so far, and I think it’s because they have a fantastic staff. They have been very gentle and very reassuring for my mom. This has been a good place for my dad, too, because his biggest concern was my mom. As for the activities for the memory care unit, they have exercises and live music almost every day and also have art activities and watch movies together. For the assisted living unit, they have more diverse activities, like cooking demonstrations. Sometimes, they’ll have people come in to talk to the residents. The food seemed good. The thing I like most about this facility is the fact that they have a very bonded and attached staff who really care about the residents. They really connect to them as individuals, which I think is really valuable. The facility is very flexible to be able to accommodate a pretty broad range of individuals. "

"My mother-in-law is expected to move into GenCare The Lodge at Eagle Ridge assisted living. I have toured the facility and I like it because they have a long-term staff so people have been there for years. They have systems in place that are tailored to individual resident's needs. The director also knows each resident by name, as far as I can tell, and the residents themselves are happy and engaged. They have exercise and personal trainers, their food is delivered to them, and they're also given personal care. For activities, they have a library and a salon, and they have trips."

"Brookdale West Seattle was a terrific facility. It was almost brand new. They had great staff. They had lots of open spaces and 2 outdoor gathering places that were really nice. They had wonderful activities going on. The residents were very, very friendly and welcoming to us. Lindsey assisted us with the tour and she was just focused on finding the right needs from my mom and assuring us that they can provide the care she needs. She showed us studios, a 1-bedroom apartment, and a 2-bedroom apartment. We did eat there and it was very good."

"I really liked El Dorado West. It's a very lovely facility. It was very warm and welcoming. They have a large dining room where people sit and be by themselves, or they can sit with somebody else. There were a ton of activities. I liked the fact that they come in and change the linens on a weekly basis, and my sister doesn't have to purchase food or prepare food. The staff members weren't communicating very well with each other because I gave them the deposit and I called them to get the deposit back and I asked them if I could get the medical records that the doctor's office had sent them and the staff said, "Yes, I'll make sure you get those." When I went to pick them up, they had been shredded, so they were not having good communication. I was not very happy. We had lunch there, and it was very good. They had a lot of different facilities. They had a game room and a large theater type thing with a very comfortable theater chair, so they can watch movies or watch ball games. They also have a hairdresser onsite for those who want to have that."

"Brookdale Admiral Heights was on a really busy street. There weren't any balconies, and there was a small garden, but it wasn’t cared for, so it didn’t look inviting. It was in too busy of an area for my mom to feel comfortable in with too much road noise. The staff was excellent and spent a long time talking to me about everything. I was very impressed. "

"Sunrise of Bellevue really appealed to me. It reminds me of an East Coast home. It has high ceilings and artwork on the walls. It's sitting up on a rise, overlooking nice ground. They have lovely people. They are dog-friendly. They have big porches outside to sit on. The facility is very clean and bright. It's just a very, very pleasant place. I thoroughly enjoyed our visit. We looked at a small studio, which was quite nice. This is on the fourth floor, which is memory care, so it's overlooking some woods and trees. It was very quiet. The director of sales is outstanding, very helpful, informative, and just a lovely person."
