"This was one place that I like a lot, but at that time, they didn't have any opening. It was a very nice facility. They have a quota of Medicaid/Medicare and they're already filled. I got to see some rooms and they're all fine. The staff was very nice people. Some of them were good, though some were not. "

"Olympic Place by Bonaventure is excellent. My room is small and clean, but no storage space. Overall, the staff has been great. The food is institutional but edible. There's just no seasoning so it's bland, like hospital food. They have two activity directors who stay busy."

"Spring Creek by Bonaventure does not accept Medicaid. It's a nice facility, and you got everything from retirement to assisted living all the way to memory care. It has a great dining hall, a good menu, and a nice chef. They have a movie room and a beauty shop. It's a really nice facility, and it's large, but we can't afford it. I didn't even know where I was part of the time in the building. "

"I liked Cascade Valley Senior Living. It was very clean. People were having fun, and they were all quite presentable, and they seemed pleasant and happy. I like the staff there. I like this place very much. It's just farther from home. They were dining when I was there and it looked pretty good. They had a church study group, a lot of different games and crafts. The staff was wonderful. The rooms were small, but they were nice and they had nice patios. It's almost a country-like setting because it's on the outskirts of town. They offered a lot of activities. They had a game room, a library, a music room, and a piano. They were very good. The place was very small, but it was very nice. My mom might like it because she grew up on a farm and outback you can see deer and stuff. There's a little wildlife and they had a garden."

"Fields Senior Living at Smokey Point is beautiful. The food is delicious, and many options are available. They are welcoming and caring. The apartments are very big and well-appointed. They have different floor plans, but what we toured was a one-bedroom apartment. They also have memory care, which is good for the future. The staff is excellent. They're very friendly and very helpful. You could tell that they love and care about their residents."

"My mom moved to Avista Ferndale. It's all on one level. It's very easy to navigate and clean. The staff was very helpful and compassionate. They are very willing to assist you in any of the needs of the new resident. Their kitchens froze out this winter, so they're about five weeks out of getting their full kitchen back up and running. So they've been pretty limited on what they can provide, but it's not any worse than any other place she's been. They have happy hours. They have outside people coming in for entertainment. They have crafts available every day. They have a courtyard in the middle of their facility, and they provide flowers for planting. There are bird feeders. They can go out, sit outside, and watch the birds. It's very, very nice."

"Victoria Place seemed clean and well-kept. The woman who gave us the tour was very friendly. The place seemed cheerful. We liked the staff during the tour. There was a woman at reception who wasn't very engaging, although I did see when somebody from one of the residents came up, she did engage with that person, but she didn't seem inviting to us. I don't know if she was distracted by something else or what, but that was the only negative thing we had. The person who was leading the tour told us that sometimes they would use the favorite recipes of the residents in the meal planning and my friend liked that."

"I toured the independent living of Creekside Continuing Care Community. They have all three levels there. It's a beautiful facility. It has a lot of gardens, and it has three courtyards. The neighborhood is top-rated. My mom and I both love that neighborhood. It's a place to walk your dog, your pet, or whatever, and they have a pet play area. However, the rooms were just too small. The staff who gave me the tour was very good. They have a beautiful dining room. They have a private dining room, too, for the family members when they come over. It's a newer place. They use high-quality windows, I noticed, and some of the other things were just nice. It's the only place that offers cottages, which was pretty cool for some people. They have a garage attached to the unit. It looked like a duplex with two garages."

"I toured Mountain Glen Retirement Community. They have all three levels of care, they are pet friendly, and they have good-sized rooms. All the staff were great. There were no problems whatsoever with any staff anywhere. We had a couple of meals there, and they were okay. Activities were the same average activities that everybody has everywhere else. That wasn't one of our biggest concerns, so I didn't pay a lot of attention to that. But they have a whole list of activities. As far as I know, it's our favorite one. It is a large community. It's like three stories high and probably has 80 units."

"My brother-in-law is at The Bridge at Mount Vernon. It's been excellent. He's been there for a year and a half now, and he's very happy after having a really tough time. The staff is very caring. The rooms are nice."

"My father was in AshleyGardens for 63 months. He passed away April 2018. My mother and I are forever grateful to the amazing staff at AshleyGardens, from Helen to all of the daily staffers including Racquel in the kitchen who gave excellent care and concern for my father his entire time he was there. Katie and the various staffers over 5 years have the utmost of respect and gratitude from my mother and I. We recommend Ashley Gardens to anyone looking for a new home with dementia issues. "My sister-in-law moved to Lilac Gardens Adult Family Home. What I like best is that they only have about four residents there. So, she gets a great deal of personal attention and assistance when she needs it. The staff is great. They're very friendly and they're experienced at handling someone who has memory issues like my sister-in-law. She seems to be pretty happy there and the attendants take good care of her. When we visited yesterday, one of the staff members was African-American and she was teaching me some Swahili. She baked some kind of bread that was like a Swahili recipe. She gave me a piece of that and let me try it. Cleanliness is excellent. I have no issues at all with that. I like the way the building is set up because, for one thing, they have a large fenced-in backyard, so she can go outside whenever she wants to. There is an alarm on the front door so if any of the residents try to leave, it sets off an alarm and one of the attendants is immediately there to take proper action. They have a TV viewing area, like a living room area, where the residents can have the option to meet with their family. They also have a stationary bicycle and some other exercise equipment in the patio area. We took my sister-in-law out yesterday for lunch and when we got back, there were two people who appeared to be musicians of some sort in the recreation area, and they were taking down their equipment, packing up instruments and microphones. She likes to walk and one of the attendants there is always ready if she wants to go for a walk around the neighborhood. Compared to where she was previously, she is getting excellent care at Lilac Gardens Adult Family Home. I like it."

"We are so grateful for the care that was provided for my grandmother at La Conner Retirement Inn. The staff is especially attentive to its residents, very caring, and skilled at their jobs. My grandmother enjoyed the friendships she was able to establish with both staff and residents while she lived there. When I visited her, the staff knew my family and me by name and greeted us warmly. My grandmother enjoyed the activities put on by the facility, such as card games or weekly pedicures. The meals cooked on site are delivered to the residents in the dining room by waiters and waitresses. My grandmother had a kitchenette in which she could make her own meals if she so desired. The assistance she was given by La Conner Retirement Inn was just enough so that she was still able to live as independently as possible. We could not be happier with her care there and we are so grateful that she spent the last years of her life in such good hands. "
