Victoria Place does not have a memory care unit and as my mother progresses in her disease, I'm concerned as to their ability to keep her there because I have known of other people who've been moved from there. I love it other than that. They're very sweet and they've taken good care of my mother. There's been no hint of Covid or anything, so obviously they're doing a good job.
She has a 1-bedroom apartment, so she has a bedroom plus a little living room. Because it's not memory care, she has a very small refrigerator in the room and she has "pull thing" in the bedroom, the bathroom and the living room, but they also have all their residents wearing medical alerts.
It would only have 30 people. It's a 1-story building, and it is secure. My mother can get out to the garden, which she loves. It's like a big square and then the center of the square is a small garden kind of arrangement. The only little disconcerting thing is she's only been there a year and a half, and they'd already been through two or three directors. There's a lot of change there, but a lot of the regular workers are pretty steady and there's one that's been there seven years.
They seem to really take good care of her. I haven't been there since last March. Because of Covid, they won't let us in, but they are helpful. If I call and say she's not answering her phone, they'll go check the phone or they'll tell her that I'm trying to call her or they'll set up a computer with her, so I can do a Zoom visit. I didn't like the staff changes that cause communication gaps and you have to keep resetting. There are new people, so you have to reestablish. Some of the new staff I haven't met personally, but those I have were very caring and sweet. The food is not too good; it had a lot of room for improvement.

Too much change in staff. Remaining staff seem overworked, frustrated and looking else where. Have had 4 directors since my mom moved in who knows why. The last one seemed fine trying to make it better for folks. but now she is gone too.. The caregivers are worked till they quit in exhaustion. Maintenance person is rude and the only nurse seems nice but is locked in her office all the time.. The only real positive has been the food and that has only been the last year or so. They also have large price increases at the end of every year. but the building and service continue to deteriorate... Would love to move my mom but not much to choose from in the area..

The patient was in assisted care at Victoria Place for about two days. Overall, it was a poor experience. The staff was inattentive, and the food was below average. They need to improve the food and answer calls quicker.

When we checked Victoria House out in 2012,we were very pleased. Very qualified nurse, manager and a staff that had been there along time. Mom really liked it,made friends quickly. But, that has all changed. They fired the nurse, the director and several of the long time staff have quit. No letter of explanation to the famlies .The food is bad, full of sodium and processed. Activities are pretty much non existent anymore. New director has made some poor choices.I think it's interesting you can email Enlivant. I am not impressed with this out fit at all!!!

My husbands mom was a resident at Victoria House and this was the best thing that ever happened to our family. We were really suffering caregiver burn out and we all know this is a labor of love. Victoria House was able to provide all the things she really had to have like assistance with giving her the medications and personal care. She really started to thrive right away. The food was a Godsend as well. She had lost a considerable amount weight before living there and with the meals there she actually put some weight back on. The menu is prepared by a Registered Dietitian. We always went once a week on Fridays at lunch and got our own special table with her and the food was awesome. We feel like were all a part of one big family there. Thank you Victoria House, You're awesome.

I visited this facility
I would describe Victoria House as very adequate, but it does not have all the amenities the other place has. It's a very small place, very limited on what they can do. It's seemed to be fairly nice, but more or less a scaled down type of place compared to others. I thought the accommodations were a little bit small. I didn’t check the food, but the menu seemed limited. They have a very good nurse there. The manager seemed to be a very good person, too.

I am a friend or relative of resident
My mother was a resident for almost 3 years, but in recent months had broken her hip & went to nursing home for 3 months before we moved her back to Victoria House. For her first 2 1/2 years, caregivers were very good, but was understaffed with no full-time nurse on premises, cooking/cooks inconsistent, either no activities director or minimum hours per week. Mom was happy because we managed to put together a group for cardplaying which she loved and the assistance she needed was minimal. After her 3 mos. in nursing home, we were going to move her to our home with hospice and private caregiving or back to Victoria House with private caregiving. Victoria House told us that they had increased their staff and had an on-site nurse 40 hrs per week as well as on call 24/7. After assessing Mom and reviewing her med chart, they assured us they'd be able to care for her without private caregiving. We moved Mom back and although she passed away shortly after, we've never regretted moving her back. She felt like she was home; was surrounded by people who loved her and they were diligent in their efforts to care for her and keep her comfortable. Their nurse was incredible, every step of the way and I would highly recommend Victoria House at this time. The reason for only giving them 3 stars is because I've had no experience with their activity level and director since their staff increase. Since Mom was bedridden, she was not in a position to take part. But for quality of care and a warm, homey atmosphere, they get top honors from us.
