I visited this facility

Where the Heart Is was very dated. I didn't like their setup. They don't have a dining area or separate activity rooms. They don't have a theater room, or sitting areas for residents. We ran into one med-tech. She was pleasant. We spoke with Jennifer and Patty. Jennifer was very nice. I think she was the director, but the front desk lady, I think her name was Patty, kept repeating things and didn't know -- I guess she's been there a while, but she kept forgetting where she was going. She couldn't answer many questions. She kept saying, " You'll have to ask somebody else. I think it's in the brochure." She was the one we originally started touring with, and she kept wanting to show us rooms that were completely identical. It's not like she was showing us a variety of different types of rooms. It was the same room, but a different room number. It was a long, drawn-out, and unnecessary tour. The tour was not productive. We saw the food. They had a kitchen downstairs, and then they served it hospital style, where they had covered trays, and then they would bring it up to each floor, and it was laid out in this weird plateau, open kitchen type thing, and then the residents would come and grab their tray, cafeteria-style. It was very informal. It was the least expensive place that we saw for good reason, but for what we saw, we thought it should have been cheaper. The room that they showed us was available, but the one that they wanted to place my mom in had massive dead bugs all over, and it was deemed move-in-ready. Lots of spiders, it was very cold, sanitary, hospital-like, very tiny, and granted, this was a studio, this wasn't a one-bedroom. The bathroom was a nice size. There wasn't much of a kitchenette area whatsoever, either, very cramped, not inviting; it was sterile and very hospital-like. Like, when you walked into a private hospital room, it basically looked like that.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mom moved into Where the Heart Is a few days ago. We chose this place mostly because of the location. So that it'd be easy for us to visit her. The staff had been really helpful. They had an art class. They have a lot. We just moved her there. So, I don't know yet, but I know they had some art activities and exercises. I haven't tried it yet, but they have a salon, activity rooms, and just like gathering rooms. Everything looks really clean.
