"I toured Sunrise of Bellevue, and what I liked best was the environment and welcoming attitude, and the least I liked would be the price. The bedrooms are sufficient, but the living spaces are small, and maybe the living spaces within the rooms seemed like an afterthought."

"It was very attractive. It was a nice, clean and well-decorated place. They had different things for the residents to do. The people there had a sense of energy. It wasn't like you were just with a bunch of old people. I liked the very positive attitude of the people there especially the staff. They were the ones who showed me around and they very good. It would be something I would be interested in and had to fit with my insurance plan and budget. "

"I visited Overlake Terrace. The facility director was wonderful. I was impressed. I'd probably give the facility itself a five and up because it was very nice. The memory care portion was a little bit dull and dreary looking, but the non-memory care looked very nice and inviting. I would advise that they do something about the memory care level. It looked like a prison. They need to either bring more light in or color or just something very vibrant. It's all in one building. I did find the apartments much smaller than what they have at the other place, but they're decent and it would suffice. The facility was very clean, well taken care of, and roomy, and they have a lot of amenities to offer the residents. They have a library and a huge, beautiful dining room. They also said that if the residents do not like the food, the chef will go all out to make some adaptations for them because they know the importance of having good meals and a good experience for the residents. They have a mini movie theater so residents can enjoy films with a true movie theater type of experience. They have bingo. They had a piano or two so people could play. They have a huge crafts room and an exercise room."

"Aegis Living Lake Union was perfect for my husband. It was just a month of respite, but he didn't want to come home. He had a lovely accommodation in that it wasn't down a long and dark hallway or something that looked like a Holiday Inn. It was just such nice accommodation. I would have to say it was expensive, but for the eight years that I haven't had any kind of respite for him, where I could go away, I figured it was worth it. Aegis Living Lake Union was great. My husband would love to go back, but it was maybe more expensive than we can afford. I like how professionally they brought us in for the initial moment we arrived. It was family-oriented. They were caring about me, and they were caring about him. The whole entryway of the place is conducive to that. It's very welcoming. It's kind of like a special hotel as opposed to just a desk where you walk up. It was lovely. More than one person came from the office and met with us and asked us what we were interested in, and they listened. The most important thing was that they clearly listened instead of just putting on a sales pitch. My husband stayed there like a resident. They gave him an apartment. He had his own bathroom and a place for a refrigerator. They showed us three or four rooms that he could have, and we chose the quieter one. So, he had a lovely room that looked out on trees and everything. It was good for him. They went overboard with any accommodation. Like he couldn't use the television remote very well, so they got one that had big numbers on it, so he could see it better. They facilitated it within minutes of our asking or mentioning that he had difficulty with it. They made calls, and in two days, it arrived. That's the kind of service it offers. It was truly amazing. Overall, my husband thought everyone was fantastic. Whenever I was there, I would say the same. They have a very special chef from the Metropolitan. He was a chef downtown in Seattle in a restaurant everyone knows. He is probably one of the best. The food was so good. He had his choice of whatever. If he wanted a sandwich, he could have it. He can have anything, and they said that 24 hours a day, he could order from the kitchen. The building looks brand new, but it's been there for a little while. It's a LEED-certified business, so everything is up to the standards that they have for recycling water. They recycle all their gray water. It's amazing. It's super clean. It's exceptional. I've visited a couple of others, and I saw what their activities were about, and what a difference! Here, they have a grand piano in the foyer as you go in there. There is a sort of common area. It's very welcoming. They have a cafe where anyone can walk up and get espresso, regular coffee, and tea. You can just go up, and you don't have to ask anybody. It's not hard to find, too. The way it's designed is that they have big windows, so that the nature, the trees, and everything reflect right into the space. My husband is not someone to come and listen to music, but in the afternoons, they have a variety of live music throughout the week. Someone either plays the grand piano, or people come in and play violin from the symphony. It was amazing. Every day, they have these games and things that you could participate in if you want to, or you could just sit there and read the paper. They have Jeopardy games, and they were fun and easy for people to do. A lot of participants came down. Another feature about this is that it has 51% men, which is unusual. They weren't necessarily impaired. Some were, of course, but many of them were widows who didn't want to keep up their homes anymore. They knew they were getting into their 80s and wanted to make sure they didn't fall or whatever, and so here they came, and it was great. My husband made a lot of friends, which was amazing."

"Cogir of Kirkland only has assisted living, they don't have memory care. It's a lovely place. They showed me a studio apartment that was quite lovely. The place itself was very nice and the staff was nice, but they couldn't provide what my husband needs. I would like to have a swimming pool and they don't have a swimming pool, but they have everything else. I'd go there myself. The room they showed me was a corner room. There was a bed, a couch, a TV, and a very small kitchen. It's large enough. The dining area was probably 25 steps away. The people that I talked to were charming and wonderful. They were great."

"We toured Cogir of Queen Anne. I like the common areas and the courtyard. It was very bright and very welcoming. The one-bedroom apartments are nice. They're good. The staff who toured us was very friendly, very welcoming and very sincere. Food was good. We had lunch there. The dining room was open and spacious, and service was good. The food was decent, too. There's an activities room and there's lots of scheduled activities throughout the week every day. They go on different outings. They have socials. They offer all that."

"Empress Senior Living was amazing. It was more expensive, but I seriously considered it. It's just that the rooms were kind of small and a little depressing. They didn't have carpet in them. Also, there's only 17 people there right now, so there's nobody in the memory care. They're still trying to fill up the place. They're really new, so they don't have very many peoplel, which made it not a good fit, but again the people were absolutely fantastic. I really, really, really like them."

"We met several people at Brookdale West Seattle and they seemed very happy. They were very welcoming, nice, and very helpful. It's an old building and it reminded me of an old hotel, but it was clean. There's a grassy area around the building, but you'd have to go across a busy street to get to the park, which does not suit me at all. The food was pretty good, but the dining area (again it's an old building) has the color that I call kind of institutional, between beige/brown/tan. It was clean, too, but I like something that's a little brighter and whiter."
