Assisted Living Communities in Grand Prairie, TX

"My mother has moved into Morada Cedar Hill Assisted Living. It looks really nice. The only thing is that they're so pricey and they've just raised the rates. She's already paying more than she did when she was last there. The facility is very nice and very well kept. The room is fine. The staff is nice and caring. The food is probably C plus. She really likes some of it, and some of it she doesn't. They have a Bible study every evening. They have bingo, dominoes, a little exercise class, like wheelchair exercise."

"Lynridge of Arlington Assisted Living and Memory Care was nice. The staff was very friendly. The only thing we had a problem with is that it is right on the highway. It has a little bit of difficulty getting in and out of it, just the way the roads are set up over there. They have a sales person that took us on the tour, and she didn't have a lot of the information that we wanted to ask about. That was one of the drawbacks. She's more of a sales and marketing person. She would have to find other people to get answers to a lot of the questions. The dining area was nice-looking. It was all clean and well-kept. It was a little more difficult finding your way around the building the way it was set up."

"It was our second choice. It was bright and cheery with light yellow and white walls. The eating area looked very pleasant. The room we were looking at was a corner room and was slightly larger than the others. They're a smaller facility. One of our main concerns at the time was they do not have as much extended care. They didn't have a wing where you're not well enough to go home and you need extra oversight. They can handle therapy. Everything was clean and it was neat and looked very nice. We met two or three of the staff. They were pleasant and answered questions. The staff was helpful to the extent they could be at the time. They have someone on staff who's very knowledgeable about all the financing options. They interacted well with residents. They had permission from a couple of residents to let us see their rooms. There was one room we passed that we smelled a strong fecal odor in. We know that can't be helped, and maybe they just hadn't had a chance to remove it, but that was on our way to the dining room and it was just one room. "

"Beautiful facility, the staff is amazing my mom absolutely loves it there she brags on the food all the time. Greatly enjoys the church service that terry put together. she says it makes it feel like she's at home. front desk is always so helpful bobbie terry and alice have made the move in nice and effortless thank you guys for taking such good care of mom"

"We visited Brookdale Mansfield. It's a smaller community and there are only 37 rooms. It's very secure. It had activities. They had a small formal dining room where all the residents ate and it had a large room for activities with big-screen TVs. She told us that men who lived there during baseball season gathered in the community room. They watch it, make popcorn and hotdogs, and just make it like they were at the game. Gracie, the executive director, is the one who showed us around. She's very knowledgeable about VA benefits. They were offering a promotion. She made sure she brought up the promotion where we could save $1,000 a month and it's not for one month, it's for the duration of the stay."

"I did like Sterling House of Cedar Hill. I also like the people that I spoke to thus we decided to put my mother-in-law there. The caregivers have been very sweet, kind, and compassionate. The rooms were not bad. You could have a choice wherein you could get a small or a larger one. We got a two-room apartment which got a separate sitting room from the living room. My mom-in-law is in a wheelchair so she does not get involved with many activities, but I know they have exercise programs, they have various people come in for spiritual thing. My mother-in-law has not been very happy with the food and she said sometimes it not identifiable food. She thinks probably they bring in already prepared food and they just heat it up. There was one time when she had an upset tummy and she asked for a soup in the kitchen but the caregiver said they didn't have any soup. The food does downgrade my rate for them somewhat and that is the reason why I would not recommend them strongly to somebody. "

"I toured here. I met several of the staff, and they were very helpful and very inviting. When you first walk into their community, they have a very warm and inviting entrance, and the feel of it is very, very nice. It's a beautiful place, and walking through it, there are so many different things that I know my parents would be able to take advantage of like meeting others and having things to do to keep them busy and things like that. They had a very nice variety on the menu. The living spaces were very nice, too. They're going to be smaller than what they're used to, but they would be sufficient for a couple. Because it would be for my parents, the unit would probably be a deluxe model with a kitchenette. It would be very helpful because they can still have their own snacks, and if they want to have lunch there, they can provide for themselves and still feel like they're in their own place doing their own thing. The cleanliness and condition of the place was awesome. They were very clean, very bright, very open, very spacious as far as the hallways and elevators and things like that. It was very easy to move around in. From everything I saw, it was very nice, very clean and neat."

"My parents moved to Highlands Village Senior Living. They got the second to the smallest room, and it's very roomy. The ceilings are high, so it makes it feel bigger. We're able to get both of their queen-size beds in there with the little loveseat. So far, their services seem great. They've only been there since Tuesday, so there's a little bit of adjustment and growing pains type of thing, but they've been very kind and tried to go out of their way to help however they can. They have bingo, card games, puzzles, and exercise. They have prayer services, church services, a movie theater for watching movies, and more. The dining area is top-notch. It is beautiful, and they have assigned seats. So, they're familiar with where they're going to eat every day, and then they get to select their own menu for the next day. So far, the food's been good."

"Deer Creek Senior Living was a really nice facility, but my friend doesn't have enough money to pay for it. I saw ladies playing cards. It smelled clean and fresh. The dining area looked clean and spacious, it had several tables, and it was clean."

"It had all three levels of care, but I visited the independent living. They told me that it was only built five years ago. It was good, but the rooms were probably average. I saw the dining area. They had three meals a day and there was a snack area where you could pick up snacks any time of the day. For the size of the facility, the dining area seemed to be small, but they told me that if you would go for independent living, you can eat in the assisted living dining room as well. I met one staff member, and she was friendly. She knew what she was talking about. It looked like an apartment building. It's four stories. It seemed to be clean."

"At Brookdale Eden Estates, they kind of mingled the retirement with the assisted living, and that is something we weren't looking for. It was very clean and a little older. It's nothing bad; it just wasn't for us. "

"My mother has moved into A Daughter's Care - Shennandoah House. Everything is very nice, clean, and well-kept. The staff is very friendly and courteous. The owner is exceptionally wonderful. So far, I've only noticed that they have someone come in and sing with them. They have other activities. I just haven't seen those yet because she's been in there just a week. The food is great. They prepare three meals a day. They have two kitchens, and they're fine."
