I am moving into The Manor & Manor Court. I'm so happy because it's in a great area. It's a wonderful place. It's so clean and so friendly. You had to put money down for this, but only $20,000. Gloria Dei is a HUD property, but the waiting list was a lot longer. It's seven minutes from where I live now. I can still shop in the same place that I go to, and that will take me no time to get to. It's gorgeous. The neighborhood is just beautiful. I only took a studio because that's really all I can afford. You have to put down way more for a one-bedroom. It is the cleanest place I've ever seen in my life. They have game rooms and exercise classes. They run bingo every week. They do a lot. The only setback is that when they built the place, they didn't have parking cause it was built a long time ago. I have to wait, and it's a two-year wait for a parking place. I have to park in the lot, which is fine, but I have COPD, and it's a walk for me. It's the only thing, but you can drop off your packages in the back using a shopping cart, and bring them upstairs, and then park your car. It's not like I have to walk with bags or anything. The person who gave the tour was great. They don't serve food there. It's totally independent. I was very disappointed when I pulled up, but as soon as you walk through the door, it's a whole different ballgame. It's beautiful inside. They have a beauty salon, a snack shop, and a little grocery if you need milk or eggs or anything like that, but what I loved was that the utilities are all included, including Comcast.

The Manor and Manor Court was nice but too far away. It's also not in my price range. It's an independent living and that's what I'm looking for. It was very nice but I had to take 2 buses to get there. I would also have to take 2 buses to go see my mother and the one bus that dropped me off there, it doesn't run every 30 minutes. It runs every hour so it would complicate my life and that's not good for me. I would have to take a bus to go shopping or wherever I wanted to go. I don't want to do that because I can't walk a lot like I used to. Other than that, it's a very nice community and I would highly recommend it. The room that I saw was the studio. That's the room that the staff showed me and I loved it. The only thing that I didn't like was the electric stove because I'm used to gas cooking. Other than that, I liked the room. The person who gave me the tour was nice. I was just hoping that she got back to me but she never did. There's a book room and there's a little store inside. They take you on trips and when shopping for groceries but you have to pay for that. It's a $45 charge and I think the staff said that it's every 6 months. I didn't try any food and they don't have a dining area but I prepare my own food because I'm very fussy about food.
