"My mother lives in the independent living section of Stapeley for over a year. It is a very good place for her and she has found activities and friends that are wonderful. The staff are friendly, attentive, and effective. The dining room is quite the gathering place! And every month there is a detailed and comprehensive calendar of events circulated to all that displays activities ranging from shopping trips to on-site movies; from day trips to local attractions to live afternoon music in the parlor; from manicure days to lectures on history, art, and world culture. Her apartment is large and light, and the services are very good (such as weekly cleaning service, and quick repairs when reported.) I highly recommend Wesley Enhanced Living at Stapeley! "

"We got Mom over at the Riverview Estates. She loves their food. It's gorgeous. It's very clean. The maintenance is good. They just had a whole bunch of renovations. It's pristine. The view of the river makes you feel like you're on vacation versus in a senior living home. They have this beautiful atrium with rocking chairs so people can sit and just look at the river. It's a beautiful ambiance. She's very happy there. They have religious services six days a week, which my mother loves, and bingo, which she loves. They bring in a lot of entertainers, like a lot of singers. On Christmas, they brought in a choir. She hung up on me the other day to go play bingo. She's happy that they have the Hallmark Channel in their TV room. They have a giant screen TV with a bunch of chairs and that makes her very happy, even though she has a small TV in her room. They're very attentive to her needs. When she misses a meal, they come up and they try to get her down for meals. If she can't make it down because she's in too much pain, they bring her her meals. Whenever I called the facility during the first couple of weeks when she was getting acclimated, they called me back very quickly. They work to get her needs met. I think the value for the money is great. I wish she would call staff more often, but that has nothing to do with their rating. She has a habit of not wanting to ask for help, but they know to come look for her, which I find important. I'm very happy there."

"My Grandfather lives in the Quadrangle. I typically visit him once a week and spend about 2-3 hours there, so I have a good feel for the place. The rooms are average size and very comparable to a college dorm room. There are personal bathrooms in each room, which is certainly a plus. All furniture is ours so nothing is provided by the Quadrangle. The campus is large and houses several different units. The on my grandfather is in, as a dining room, community tv room, and a library. The dining room is nice with round tables that fit 10 people per table. The food in my opinion is not the greatest, but it may be because alot of the food is watered down or made softer for the older population residing there. The library is small but is suitable. The staff that I have seen have always been very nice and polite. They are very attentive and seem very sincere about helping older folks. Overall I am very impressed and happy with the care and quality of the Quadrangle. "

"I was really lucky to get my father into St. Marys. I know that he is safe and I don't have to worry about him in any way. I went there on Fathers Day and was so happy to share a beautiful crab cake meal with him... It was actually delicious. The employees are all very professional and kind. The activities department keep him busy throughout the day and I am so thankful for that. "

"My sister moved up to Phoebe Richland Community. It was very welcoming. They gave her all the physical therapy she could handle, which was great. She had physical therapy almost every day and occupational therapy almost every day when she got there. She still gets it quite frequently. The staff is very nice. She enjoys the other residents there. She says she has a wonderful time getting to know them and they're very caring also. I was there one Saturday when the director himself was helping someone move into their memory care area. He was moving the clothing and stuff in himself on a Saturday. They're just delightful. There's an exercise class of some kind every morning, wheelchair volleyball, chair, or tai-chi. There's at least one activity every morning and one or two activities every afternoon. Every day I call or when I talk to my sister, she'll say, "Oh yes, we had an exercise this morning." It's a smaller place, so they can't offer the diversity of activities that a larger facility might offer. The assisted living has a beautiful lounge area when you walk in. The dining room is lovely. You couldn't ask for anything better. I get no complaints from my sister except there's no salt, but she can bring some herself. That's for health reasons. I saw two small library reading areas, a game room, a big lounge, and a dining room. She's in a temporary room right now because there were no rooms available, so it's a little small but very nice and furnished. It has a dresser, a wardrobe, a chair, a bed, a little kitchenette, and a beautiful bathroom that's handicapped accessible. It is less expensive than others for definitely something better. Their staff is especially caring. This place is much more consistent with their staffing, which means the staff gets to know their people better."

"The staff at Luther Woods makes it very special. My mother gets wonderful, compassionate care there. We feel like the people there really care. The nursing staff is excellent, the aides are so attentive, we feel very comfortable with her being there. Foid and facilities are also top notch. "

"I was at Powerback last year after my stroke. I visited them at the beginning of October and stayed there for about three weeks. They had CNAs and they were very lazy. The food was great. You get to pick what you want. They have journaling, music and bingo. They had other things for people to do. We're not to get lazy there. "

"I am certain that a lot of people would expect to hear horror stories from the care received while in any care facility. Might I first start off, by saying that when I arrived at Garden Spring center, I was just recently declared dead. Again. The previous facility I was in went through this with me on more than one occasion, in the same stay. Please note.. I have a nasty attitude towards authority, and anyone who thinks they know me, better than I do. Of course, when unable to fend for oneself, this becomes exactly the environment I found myself in. From day one, the focus was on recovery. Yes, some of the instructions I was given seemed beyond my capabilities, and I gave them a hassle trying new things for the first time. After all, my confidence was at an all time low... I could not speak correctly, nor could I properly put pen to paper to express my needs. They helped me not only recover, make new friends, and learn how to aid myself in a bad situation (should it arise again), they also watched me WALK out of the facility. They provided me with aftercare specialists, and made sure I had medication enough for the transition to my primary doctor. While in the facility, I noticed each staff member working as hard as they could to get things done. While conversation was not always available, it was because the staff were busy working. All I can say, is I went in dead, and walked out...... without so much as a personal hassle inside. When I call back, I get friendly responses, and many staff remember me, even if I forgot some of them, either due to being near dead, or just a time lapse in my brain. Their conflict resolution is above average in my opinion, as I had many an issue (see above authority issues). They are willing to talk, and negotiate with the needs of the residents, rather than saying it is their way or no way. I can't say how much it means to me, that I went in a lost cause, and now I have life, and the ability to be confident, if I should find myself in a position to be cared for again, that this facility has the means, and the attitude, to send me happy and healthy back to the world I came in from. "

"My parents spent their whole lives in the Detroit area. They didn't want to move too far away if and when they needed care. After my mother passed and my father needed care I found a beautiful place called Renaissance Gardens in Dearborn, Michigan. I started using their respite care to give myself a little time and my dad a little social interaction. Their programs are reasonable,easy to enroll in, and are enjoyable for the residents. The grounds are well cared for and beautiful to look at. When it came time for my father to need help he couldn't receive living at home, he was still active enough to not want to just sit around in a room all the time. The wonderful staff at Renaissance Gardens put him at ease by showing him the apartment style accommodations. He loved the community areas such as the pool and hobby shop. I was put at ease when I learned more about the way they would meet his needs and make sure he got the health guidance he needed. You don't trust your loved ones to just anyone. I trusted Renaissance Gardens with the man I love most. "

"My sister is moving into Southampton Estates. She's going in with independent living, but it is total care. She wanted a place that had total care so she would not have to move again. It is a beautiful place, and everyone is friendly. She is looking forward to moving in. The staff are very, very nice, very friendly, and very helpful. They have a one-bedroom and a two-bedroom. They're renovating two efficiencies into an apartment for her. They have a whole list of everything that they offer there. They also can take her to the doctors or food shopping. They get one meal a day. She'll have her own kitchen, bathroom, and laundry room, and it's all very, very nice. They have doctors and specialists that come in periodically. They also have doctors on call. She is free to come and go, and free to have anybody who wants to come and visit. They could not have been more accommodating. It is very easy to get around the facility itself."

"Christ Home is a new facility, which is only about 3 years old. It's beautiful, and the people were extraordinarily nice. It's pretty small, and it's very nice for somebody that requires one-person transfer for everything. "
