My mother is living at Boone Ridge Senior Living Community. She's in memory care. I like that it's open, bright, clean, and cheerful. It has caring caregivers. They obviously care about what they do, and management is easy to talk to, so communications are also excellent. When it comes to food, you don't really have too many choices in memory care. You get what you are served. I think the food is satisfactory though. Once a week they have a bus tour out in the country. They usually stop somewhere, and the residents get a treat. It is included, so it's not out of pocket for each resident. They have a type of bingo game that they play a couple of times a week. They have coloring sessions where they sit and color various things from big coloring books or handout sheets. They have discussion groups, and they have music that comes in once or twice a week. They had a car show last week, and the residents went out for a while and looked at that. They have exercise classes every day and chair yoga maybe twice a week. Then they have the general outings where they'll take a group of the memory care folks for a little walk outside. All the activities are excellent. My mother never stayed anywhere else before, but I would say the value for the money here is probably competitive.

I actually had all 4 of my grandparents at Boone Ridge at one time! It was wonderful to have the option of assisted care and memory care under one roof. The building is nice and new. There are many things that are truly great about Boone Ridge. However, we’ve had many, many issues with both care and cost of care. I would like to give them the benefit of the doubt that they are new and still getting the hang of things, but the disappointments that should have been addressed continued with time. For the cost, we really believe the care should be better. It’s one of those situations that you just have to trust that they are caring for your family and unfortunately, time and again they have proven to be unworthy of that trust. The amount of times we have discovered my grandmother sleeping in a soiled bed or dressed in clothes from the day before in appalling. It’s actually heartbreaking. I don’t know how many other options are available in the Salem area, but please do your due diligence and look around before choosing Boone Ridge. We regret not doing so.

My friend seems to be very content at Boone Ridge. We're very happy with the facility. He seems very happy there. He has a room with a private bath; it seems very nice. He's got his bed, he's got a loveseat, he's got a TV, and a bookshelf. It's very comfortable. We were only allowed to help him move-in on the first day he was admitted. We have not been able to visit because of COVID. We have visited him through the window, so I can't tell you about the amenities. I feel like we've made the right decision. He appears to be content, he is sociable, and I think we've made the right decision. I'm happy for him.

Both my father and mother have lived in this wonderful place, my father in memory care and my mother in assisted living. The care they both received was loving, gracious, respectful, and kind. They truly love their residence. I have also been impressed with the amount of staffing they have on any given shift--when a cord is pulled for assistance, they are there within a minute or two. I don't know how they have done it but they have hired people who offer love and help to their residents and as a daughter, I could not ask for more. I feel blessed to have had both of my parents at Boone Ridge. (as a side note--food is always hard--we have seen this in every place we have visited--Boone Ridge's food is comparable to others. So that washes this out in my book. Again, it is the true love they have shown my parents that shines.
