My mother went to Assumption Village. They took Medicaid, and they didn't have to do a spenddown. She's only been there a couple of weeks, but she seems to like it. It was very bright and airy in there, and they had games for her to play, like bingo and stuff. She went from a one-bedroom to a studio, and on Medicaid, they have to have a studio. There is a microwave and a refrigerator because they can't cook in there. The rooms had nice little views of the outside and the courtyard. Everybody seemed to be really nice when I met with them. She seems to like it, but she hasn't been there long enough for me to be able to say anything about the staff or the food. I've only had one meal there. They don't have a pool, but they do exercises in a group. They have places for them that have books, and they have an area for puzzles and bingo and that kind of thing. They encourage them to go down to the cafeteria to eat instead of eating in their room, just so they get to socialize. Her room was very clean when she moved in, and had new flooring and new vinyl blinds. When I was leaving one day, I saw the staff out there mopping. The caretakers have been very good to her. They had a changeover in staff when we first moved in, from one person to another. It took longer to move in than anticipated, but the gal was really friendly. My mom likes her caretakers, the people who come in and help her dress and stuff. She says they're very friendly. She did have to have a trip to the hospital because she had some bleeding, and they called me and told me what the situation was and where they were taking her, that kind of thing, so they've been very helpful that way. I did have dinner with my mom the first night. It wasn't my cup of tea, but it was like an open-faced turkey sandwich with vegetables and potatoes. My mom enjoyed it. You sit at your table, and they come out there and bring your food out to you. Since it's on Medicaid, she's only paying like $600 or $700 a month, which is great. It probably wasn't the area she wanted to be in, but it's clean, they feed them, and they take care of them. The other residents I've talked to have been there a while, and they really like the place. They don't go on any outings or anything, but they have plenty for people to do.

Assumption Village was spotlessly clean. It really smelled lovely. The people that we talked to as we went through looked happy and were able to relate with us. The rooms that we looked at were really lovely, too. I personally liked the studio space, which was the cheapest, better than the one-bedroom. They have a wonderful courtyard in the middle, and they have access to masses on Wednesday and Sunday. They're still under COVID restrictions, so they're only having lunch communally, but the lunch room was bright and pleasant, and they just had two people at each table. It was really quite nice. In the assisted living area, the cost of getting into it seemed very doable. It was less than $3,000 for the three meals a day, the activities, and care. All of the staff looked happy and perky. The assistant supervisor who took us around was lovely and really nice. She spent a lot of time with us. The people working there looked like they were being very diligent. They were young and energetic and they definitely did a good job of keeping the place clean. The number of activities was just great.

We had a brief tour of Assumption Village. It was a smaller community, but they didn't have a lot of extra activities. It's a very religious based center, so there were church services three times a week and some rosary activities. At the time, the dining hall was closed because of COVID issues, so they did not have people coming down for meals yet. I only met the lady that gave us the tour, and she was very polite, very nice, and very informative. The place was clean, modern, and nice. It just seemed a little empty and not active, but that is because of COVID. It could be totally different some other day.

My father is in Assumption Village. It's really nice. His room is a 1-bedroom and he has a little kitchenette with a mini refrigerator, a microwave, and a little sink. He has a small living room and a separate bedroom with a bathroom. They have three meals in the dining room. He's happy. I've only eaten there a couple of times with him. Everybody's been really nice and friendly. The facility is about 15 years old, so it's fairly new.

I often visit my grandmother at Assumption Village and absolutely love it there! The grounds are always beautiful and we often take walks to the Farmers market which is only a couple of blocks away to get fresh produce so she can keep it on hand in her apartment. The staff is always so helpful and we hope she can live out her life here. As a family it has set our minds at ease knowing she is and will be well cared for.

What a wonderful community! Family of friends reside here and I'm always impressed by the cleanliness and friendliness of the staff. The facility itself is really beautiful and the staff is all wonderful. It is a faith based community, but that's not the only aspect. The activities director is wonderful and the residents always rave about the wonderful activities. If my own grandmother was still alive, I'd love to have her move into Assumption Village!

The people who are the true heroes here are the caregivers. My grandmother spent five years in their care and the caregivers make that place happen. They will go out of their way to support their patients. When my grandmother ended up under the care of hospice, they never left her alone. They stayed by her side and made sure she knew they loved her. That meant more then anything to me. If I had any complaints about this, it would be the administration. The admin of the facility was hard headed and hard to deal with. They tend to overwork their staff, and staff has been injured more then once.
