"Mom is at Samaritan Health Center. It's close to where I live, so I get to see her every day. It's where she had her rehab, too. Their food is OK. I've tried it before she's eaten some, and it tastes pretty good. They have activities, but Mom isn't participating right now."

"My husband was at the Heritage Nursing and Rehab Center for six weeks, and I can't say enough about them. They were very, very good to him. We were going there for therapy to get him to walk, and to get his throat muscles back so that he could eat. He was on a feeding tube, so he could not take anything by mouth, which was difficult -- not even water, and he was doing pretty good with the exercises and trying to talk, and he was doing good with his walking. He had to have a walker, but he was doing pretty good until he took a turn for the worse. He shared a room with another man who had Parkinson's, so it got a little crowded from time to time because of the machinery that they needed. They needed a lift in order to get the other gentleman out of bed and get him in a wheelchair and stuff. So it wasn't that the rooms weren't spacious enough, it was just that between the wheelchairs and everything else that they had to use for both men, it became a little crowded and we had to keep moving the chairs out. But the nursing home itself, the help, the nurses, the doctor, everybody was super. I can't say enough about them. "

"This place was a lot better than the previous facilities I stayed in. The social worker help me switch my medicaid plan over so I could stay long term. The administrator was extremely helpful and addressed all of my concerns. The building is not as new as some of the other facilities in the area, but the care was excellent. Sometimes they were short staffed, but I have seen this at every home I've stayed at. I am younger than most nursing home residents but the staff made me feel comfortable and well cared for. My room is currently private, but I will have to transition into a semi-private room. The rooms are basic but have a phone, TV, hospital bed, and a bathroom (no shower). Again it is not the fanciest place, but it works. The nursing home is located in a safe area with lots of parking for visitors and lots of windows. They have activities and just started allowing in person visitation. "

"My sisters and I chose this facility because it was clean and close to all of our homes. We had also never heard anything negative about it. I visited my father 2-3 times a week-unannounced. We had purchased him some clothes, but most of them were stolen by the staff-even though we put his name on them with black markers. Even his new underwear were stolen. There were activities for the residents and the food looked reasonably healthy. The staff seemed friendly, but it seems they had a high turnover rate with the certified nursing assistants. I sometimes visited on 1st or 2nd shift and rarely saw the same CNA's. When my father became more ill, he went into the hospital. We went to his nursing home room to get his clothes because we were told by his doctor that he was too ill to be returning to the nursing home. When we arrived, they had already had his clothes packed and someone else was in his bed when we went to his room. I was disgusted by this because it showed me how important money was to this facility and that they had no consideration for his family. "

"I picked LindenGrove Menomonee Falls because it was recommended. Also, it's in Menominee Falls, so it was close by. My sister could come and visit me and take care of things for me. It's a very clean facility. The staff is outstanding. I can't say enough about them. They treat us very, very nicely. I think it deserves a 5-star rating. It's an awesome facility. I would recommend it to anyone. They are an outstanding staff. They really care about you here. Their food is obviously made in large quantities, but it's good. There's nothing bad about it. It's very clean, and the staff is always right here. The maintenance crew is good. It's a nice place to rehab, and their therapy department is outstanding. They have bingo once a week, and they give out prizes and stuff when you get a bingo. That's always fun to get out of the room, where it would last for about an hour or so. Today they had Shetland ponies come, so it's pretty cool. They also do a Vegas day, and that's like once a month. They play poker with cards, and we play as a group. They also have live music come, too. They try to get the residents all involved. It's worth the money for the care you get here."

"Linden Grove rooms have 2 bedrooms, and the residents were fine. The food looks good; my relative likes it. "

"My mother has been staying at Glendale Care and Rehab Center. Her care was very caring and impeccable. The facilities are clean. They always smell fresh. The people in here are caring. My mom's room is good. The trash is always empty. The CNAs are very attentive. They do listen. They play bingo and puzzles. They have a church service."

"My experience with Colonial Manor was a poor one. My mother was a resident there for about 5 months or so. The receptionist was rarely able to answer any questions when she was there to answer the phones. Calls to the nurses stations frequently went unanswered and when they did answer, they were usually reluctant to give information. My mother would be left in bed for hours at a time and her calls for assistance were ignored at times. There was one particularly disturbing incident in which my sister went to pick my mother up after my mom had returned to the facility from an appointment and my mom's wheelchair was missing. When my sister inquired about it, the staff claimed to have no knowledge of its whereabouts. As my sister was leaving, she noticed a patient in the lobby sitting in my mother's chair. One of the care providers had entered my mom's room while she was gone and took her chair and gave it to another patient. The caretakers were often rude and would say things like "I'm not going to keep coming in here to help you!" "

"We had my father in Luther Manor when he needed nursing home care, and they were wonderful. The place never smelled bad. They kept him clean; he always had clean clothes on. They took good care of him. The food was good. We have nothing but glowing reports for them. My father was there eight years ago, but we visited again because we wanted to enroll my brother. We talked with the representative who took us on a tour of the facility. It was beautiful. She was very professional, very thorough, answered our questions, took special time out to give us face-to-face information, and toured us through the entire facility. She told us what the different plans were and how they would handle somebody who needed more care by graduating them to the next level of care. If they seemed like they were fine where they were, they would give them as much independence or as much care as they needed. They were very accommodating. He would've had a room with as much privacy or as little as what he required, and they had people who would come in for his special needs, like personal grooming or laundry. They had everything very organized and could answer a person's every need at any level. We've had a good experience with them in the past and our visit was a very positive experience again. The staff showed us the cafeteria, and it's very nice with tables where people could sit and converse and have their lunch. I was very impressed."

"Cedar Community was very nice and clean. My mom was there for rehab a year ago after being in the hospital, and she was thriving. The nurses were wonderful, which is why it was the first place we looked at for assisted living for her now. Unfortunately, she doesn't get much with Social Security. My husband and I are unable to help with the other costs, so there's just no way at all that she can afford to live there now. I have not tasted their food, but my mom loved it. They had amenities. If she had wanted, she could have utilized any of them. They have walking trails, a pond, and all kinds of events throughout the year. They even have their own shuttle service for the residents. It is an older building and looks like it needs some updating. Other than that, we loved everything else about it. I guess their independent senior living is very reasonably-priced. When you go into assisted living though, that's when it gets very pricey. I understand that because there's nursing and other things to pay for medically. Our state of Wisconsin just doesn't do much to help seniors. Social Security is very little, and our state insurance doesn't help with any assisted living situation. For her stay in rehab and the amount of time they allowed her to stay there with the insurance though, I would say the value was good."

"The Dickson Hollow had a first floor room available. My husband would be in another area of the building, but we would be closer together. I only looked at the two apartments that were available on the first floor. One of them had a sun room that led out to the patio, which was very nice. The other one had a walk-in closet with a master bed and bath. They were not too large, but they looked big enough and had plenty of storage. The place was very light and sunny. Everyone appeared to be happy. They had food services, a very nice chapel, and a theater. "

"We visited several facilities all around this area. We were so impressed with the Congregational Home because it was so friendly. During our visit everyone greeted us - residents, custodial, nursing, and other support staff. Everybody and everything seemed clean and well cared for. There were activities offered all day long, including an additional program especially for socialization and memory. We also liked that there is a chaplain there. Very impressive! "

"I had my on-the-job training at the East Castle. It was the nicest place. I didn't smell anything. The meals looked very nourishing too. The rooms were not overcrowded. There were some rooms that were small but I was amazed at how some of them were so large for just one person being there. What just I didn't like was that they don't have the pull up exercises in the morning, but I wasn't able to ask why. Still, if I had a chance and something happened to me, I would rather be there. "
